Recorded then tuned into the MSU spring game to see what they are all about with a new coach. First 20 minutes on B1G Network was basic pre game line stretching then passing drills. The Spartans are so weird.
I follow our special teams players pretty closely. My son was an all state kicker a few years ago and is playing at a small D1. Samaha is not going to cut it as our kicker. I'm sorry to say that but he's not an accurate an kicker, is not quick to the ball and being a lefty kicker is not ideal for a bunch of reasons that are highly debatable. I hope they have someone from the Portal because we'll need it. Tommy is a serviceable kickoff and punt guy with a strong leg in both capacities but has shanks more than most kickers or punters you will see at this level. Special teams will be a big question in my mind until I see otherwise.
Jason Benetti announced a schdule announcement during the 2nd. quarter of the Spring Game. I'm guessing they are playing someone a neutral site. Or maybe we will spot the PAC teams 10 points since they all suck.
Impossible to not sound like a homer but I think he's the least likely to bust of the top 5 QBs along with Jayden Daniels maybe who I would probably take first. Caleb Williams seems like a diva and I think he is the most likely to be a bust/non-leader (but probably has the highest ceiling if he grow sup) but I don't see that happening. Maye seems like a decent journeyman.
The worst thing about our team being so bad is not caring or having any emotion about the game because you know that the other team, any other decent team, is going to pull away late.
The most obvious tells of bad coaching are the inability to make half time adjustments, hold a lead or respond to the other team making a run. And this team can't do any of that. I think they could have 10 more wins if someone else were driving the bus.
Kind of reminds me of Alan Trammel managing the Detroit tigers in the early 2000s. He lost 119 games in his first year (nearly an all time record), and we kept him around for two more years just to watch him lose 90+ again, and again. At least Juwan had some success early on with John B's players, and he can probably go back to being an assistant in the NBA as Trammel landed as a special assistant for the past couple of decades. Best thing for everyone right now is to rip off the band aid.
57 years since they finished last in the conference and perhaps the worst team in my lifetime. Move now before the program becomes a perpetual embarrassment.
The Big Ten and SEC hold the cards and have no reason to share revenue in any sport with mid majors like Butler, Gonazaga, South Florida, Marquette etc etc. Leave the NCAA and drop a handful of turd programs on the way out... Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, come to mind easily. They can form new leagues and the new D1 formed by the Big Ten and SEC can let a set number of at larges in from their new league and the mid major programs-- but the days of cupcake schedules and auto bids for program that wouldn't compete in a power 5 are going to be over. Too much money at stake. Conferences like the ACC, PAC, Big East, Big 12 become defacto Division II programs and everybody else shifts down. If some program grows or declines, they can deal with them
IMO the Hoops tournament would be more interesting because the initial week would be way more competitive. I get the underdog appeal but it only goes so far and those teams never win it all.
He was never staying in AA and the success of that team was 3 pro level arms and Chris Fetter. I think this team will win about a quarter of its games and the trajectory is not looking good
OP's prior opinions aside, I tend to agree that Warde should be replaced within the next 6 months by a top notch experienced AD who has firgured out NIL.
Its tough to keep highly successful coaches with options to move to arguably better programs in better places to live, with better compensation options. Harbaugh leaving was inevitable and we should all thank him for sticking it out 9 years to see it through a National Championship. But that all happened despite Warde Manual not because of him. He just happened to be the AD at the time Harbaugh was here and his presence didn't win or lose us Harbaugh.
You mentioned baseball. Bakich was always going South after he had success (then the pandemic happened). I follow that program pretty closely and he clearly stopped seriously recruiting about two years before he left. He basically offered anyone from OLSM and a bunch of mediocre in state players and said some weird things about team diversity and playing games in the summer. But lets face it there are usually like 50 people (mostly parents of players) at our baseball games and no one really cares.
That being said, yeah, Warde needs to go but mainly because of the crash of the basketball team, issues with Howard and inability to figure out NIL not because of Tennis and Soccer coaches, or even his alleged lack of a relationship with Harbaugh.
BTW, Warde lived in my hall in South Quad and while I knew and hung out with a lot of football players, who were by and large good guys, he wasn't one of them. Guy seemed to have a massive chip on his shoulder and eventually that is going to show up in the wrong way.
Lets get someone in who has a business background.
I don't know about first or even first round but I would not draft Caleb Williams or Pennix before him. I know that sounds crazy. Just a gut feeling that they aren't going to make the transition as well as some other guys. Time will tell. I hope I'm, wrong.
Spent 5 years in LA. It’s a demographics thing and just plain hard to get to anything under 2 hours. Vince Lombardi couldn’t build a fan base. Not sure it matters in todays world.
Price of success. Top programs reload and improve on players and staff. If SM and WM can’t do that they are not the guys and will not last. If they can they will. It’s football it’s sports. It’s business It’s Life.
As much as I hate the NCAA, the Tranfer Portal and NIL will ruin college football. Start profit sharing with the players (in revenue sports) and end this madness or college sports will die a slow death.
It seems like a single or double vs a home run hire. Washington was overrated playing a VERY weak PAC. Harbaugh out coached him at every aspect of the game. Will be interesting to watch him play in the Ess Eee Cee. I don’t think it ends well.
Juwan seems like kind of a tool. He doesn’t do interviews. Cant keep players. Fights with staff and other coaches. Let him go get healthy and be an NBA asst. that seems like his ceiling.

Not to mention 24 years old

Third base is also white and soft
NW probably should not be in the B1G 10 or future super conferences. Just like Vandy in SEC. It's entertaining but not good for anyone.
Only goes to Schools with a Mr. Spots.
Huh?
Or a Porn Star.
Gimmick ball. Currently it’s illegal screens. Shaka is a fraud.
Better than Jizzos
Warrants a serious look
Clemson looks good. UM not so much.
But not their brother in law please.
5-10 with several bad losses and no power and no depth on the mound.

I would rank them ...
Daniels
JJ
Maye
Williams
Nix (too old)
His staff isn’t the problem. He is.

Here's how I see it playing out.

15 parents and a few stats nerds at home games. Break the bank /s
Caracosa gonna Caracosa
My favorite RBs…Jamie Morris, Mike Hart, Blake Corum. From the same mold. Michigan Men

Hutch and the other Lions aside The “pro bowl” is unwatchable battle of the network stars meets American Gladiator garbage.
Any decent coach will be coaching in March. But yeah fire him now.
Gimmick coach. They figure him out everywhere he goes. And Marquette may be a better job anyway. It’s all they have there.
He shouldn’t be coaching his kids. I suspect that (and his arrogance) are the cause of the locker room cancer.

It's time. He needs to take time off to focus on his health... or whatever.

Perhaps it’s because he has no other options.
No big loss.

The quintessential Spartan.
I am putting in a CB to Staee for Dante. Watched him play a lot in HS. He makes a lot of mistakes.
Booger is my here. Not that Booger
