Linguist leaves Buffalo for Bama

The Saban retirement domino effect has now created four FBS head coaching vacancies.

Most interesting for Linguist - he’s leaving Buffalo to take the same position at Bama that he originally left Michigan to assume at UB.

Kudos to Bama. They’re giving DeBoer all the support a new HC could possibly ever want.

Bama gonna do what Bama does. You can hate them, but they will throw all the $$$ in the world to give the coach what he needs.  They aren’t pretending to be anything other than they are. I respect the Hell out of that.

Harbaugh just won the National Championship and you want Michigan to take notes about what the team they beat in the semi-final is doing?

They last two times Michigan tried to emulate Bama by hiring their OC's - Doug Nussmeier & Josh Gattis - it didn't turn out so well.

I am seeing a lot of posts that are in the nature of "Michigan won it all therefore no one can think that anything they have done is anything but the best and there are no areas that need re-examination and improvement."  First, that is dead wrong.  There are areas that need improvement.  Second, even the national champion should evaluate everything in its program to figure out what can be done even better, what can be improved.  Do you think there is nothing Michigan can learn from the things that Alabama had done just because we beat them in the Rose Bowl?  Preposterous.  Borrow the best ideas and practices that are out there.

I am in absolute agreement that Michigan should evaluate each and every year what they are doing. Did Bama rest on their laurels and think we won a NC so we can just keep doing the same thing? No! Saban changed coordinators and coaches more than some change underwear and he wasn't afraid to change his offense or defense either. More than any other coach in history he was able to adapt and change to the flow of CFB. The results speak for themselves: 6 national championships, 10 SEC championships, multiple coach of the year awards, and his coaching tree could likely fill 4 coaching staffs. Do we want to be like Bama the school? No. But we can sure learn a lot from Bama the football program. If not, 20 years from now we will still be talking about that one championship we won back in 2024. The Michigan football program just won a NC and if they allow that momentum to slow down they will once again get behind the likes of OSU, Georgia, Bama and other national programs.

Come on.  This isn't just any team that lost in the semi-finals.  Alabama is a team that won SIX national championships over the past fifteen years.  How far back would Michigan have to go to accumulate six national championships?

Not saying Michigan should copy everything they do, but dismissing them out of hand because on of one game this season does not make sense.

Bama will regress to the mean! It may take a couple years but in the end Debora (name check) will be fired within four year!

if Jim leaves for the pros he will also be fired within four years and will look back with regret to what he had here, a potential lifetime contract!

the pros (Alabama) is an unrealistic standard to replicate
