Well we know Grant has that…

Well we know Grant has that Kaytron Allen speed, so that seems like a legitimate option.

Know thy enemy, we play…

Know thy enemy, we play Texas 9/7/24

Thank you for everything Jim…

Thank you for everything Jim. This university is beyond lucky for everything you've given us throughout your life. Now go get your Superbowl!

P.S. After you've won it all, can you come back as the AD and lead the full scale deconstruction of the NCAA, starting with revenue sharing?

Unless he wanted to keep…

Unless he wanted to keep today's celebration focused on Team 144.

After a long and successful…

After a long and successful NFL career, I really hope we get to see Kris in front of the camera full time. This guy is as charismatic as they come.

We were at the game and had…

We were at the game and had the same observation. Maybe it was coincidence, but there is no denying that after playing Mr. Brightside the energy in the stadium shifted. Destiny was calling.

Sorry to be that guy, but…

Sorry to be that guy, but shouldn't Will Johnson and Kris Jenkins have shields since they were both named to at least one All-American list? I doubt many UW fans read MGoBlog but in case they do, let's maximize the FFFF intimidation potential.

Edit: Also wanted to give a huge thank you to Alex for the excellent work he has done since joining the blog. It's been a pleasure to read.

Michigan beats up on…

Michigan beats up on cupcakes for nine weeks and "they haven't played anybody". Anybody else beats up on cupcakes and "they're playing their best football".

This is why I never thought…

This is why I never thought the A&M discussion made any sense. It's hard to see how he wouldn't have the same problems there that he has had at OSU.

What I love most about this…

What I love most about this win is that for all those within the OSU fan base who bought into the narrative that "they only beat us because they cheated", they just suffered the emotional turmoil of losing today while simultaneously losing 2021 and 2022 all over again!

Self-delusion is a dangerous thing to mess with.

I like to think that in 25…

I like to think that in 25 years all the young men on this team will be thriving personally and professionally. They'll look back at the shit storm that has been the past month as a reminder that even when everything is stacked against them, they still have to fortitude to find success.

Meanwhile in 25 years no one will remember who the fuck Pete Thamel was.

If we establish a two score…

If we establish a two score lead in the second half this home crowd is going to be screaming for blood. It's only going to get louder and more difficult for McCord to think. I see a repeat of 2021 but without the third and fourth down heroics by Stroud and the OSU receivers to sustain drives. Michigan runs away with it in the fourth quarter to win 42-17. Ryan Day walks home.

I can't think of anything…

I can't think of anything that captures the difference between these coaches more than when Harbaugh said they were going to beat OSU or die trying.

He knew Michigan was down in the rivalry but instead of making excuses he challenged his team to give everything they had for a year to take down OSU - and it worked.

That's why I like our chances in this game. If OSU legitimately believes they lost the last two years because of the actions of anyone outside of their locker room, they're in for a rude awakening.

There

The last two years I've put my phone on airplane mode and gone for a long hike with my wife. After the hike I give my wife the phone to check the score but tell her not to say anything. I then anxiously drive home trying to guess what she is thinking. I don't finally check the score until I get home. It's weird, but it seems to work.

I foresee a future where…

I foresee a future where Ryan Day never reaches 100

Anyone know what George…

Anyone know what George Helow is up to these days?

This is the problem with…

This is the problem with preseason rankings, they continue to influence people's perspective long after they've become irrelevant.

Klatt dropped a crazy stat this week on his show: Texas A&M has only had two double digit win seasons since 1998. This idea that they were a good program on the cusp of breaking through was essentially fabricated by the preseason polls. I wish they didn't have any polls before week 7 at the earliest.

As Brian said in his HTTV…

As Brian said in his HTTV writeup, Blake Corum is " 'do the right thing', the person". What an exceptional young man, and such a great representation of the culture that's been developed these past few years.

Get this man his Broyles!

Can revenue sharing only…

Can revenue sharing only occur if the NCAA approves? If not, what's to stop Michigan from going independent or forming a new conference - the first conference with revenue sharing? We could kill two birds with one stone, leave this circus of a conference and accelerate the demise of the NCAA.

Agreed. Hit hard but don't…

Agreed. Hit hard but don't go for the big hit, fight for extra yards but protect the football. Stay focused on executing your responsibilities with intensity.

I doubt we'd even have to…

I doubt we'd even have to travel. We're everywhere. This week I learned I have two coworkers who read MGoBlog. I live in the SF Bay Area.

Anyone know of an…

Anyone know of an alternative to the ESPN gamecast play-by-play feature? I do find it convenient for following non-Michigan games when I'm my attention is elsewhere.

Typically just search …

Typically just search "Michigan vs [opponent] live".

FYI every Michigan game so…

FYI every Michigan game so far has been live streamed on YouTube on at least one channel. You don't need to wait until later to watch it.

Amazingly it's same quality as the TV broadcast (same commercials too). I guess Stalions has a guy in the press box.

They started dropping this…

They started dropping this stat a few weeks ago, maybe against Indiana, and I can't recall a time since that an opponent has gotten within the 10. I think the streak still holds.

Somewhere in one of Tolkien…

Somewhere in one of Tolkien's writings there is a description of one of the good guys charging at the enemy, his eyes ablaze with the righteous wrath of the Valar, and the enemy cowering before him, attempting to hide their faces, before turning to flee.

Every time I think about Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, and the rest of the defense playing mad the rest of the season, this is the picture I have in mind.

Personally this is exactly…

Personally this is exactly what I want in a head coach of a rival team. Give me a guy who is incapable of introspection, constantly makes excuses when they lose, and is so insecure he keeps getting in his own way. People characterize Harbaugh as being stubborn, but he was able to recognize the entire staff he built needed a top to bottom shake up after 2020. As long as Ryan Day thinks the problems with OSU's performance lie outside the program, I like our odds.

I was planning on attending…

I was planning on attending the Stanford - Washington game in my Michigan apparel with a Groucho Marx mask but something came up. Please somebody do this.

Serious question though,…

Serious question though, what is to stop any fan base from doing what this guy did and independently bankrolling the entire operation? If one of those fans just happened to have a personal connection with someone on the coaching staff and informally communicated their findings, at what point is it cheating and how do you prove any of it?

Let's say hypothetically…

Let's say hypothetically they did send staffers to another game, it's not like the staffers would be wearing Michigan gear. I agree this seems next to impossible to enforce. I'm sure staffers at Michigan have friends and family connections to other big 10 schools. If they go to another game and take a selfie with the sideline in the background, is that a rule violation?

I want both these teams to…

I want both these teams to win the bare minimum amount required to ensure their coaches are around for a few more years. I think a 10-2 James Franklin is safe, but I'm not so sure about a 10-2 Ryan Day. Give me OSU in the type of win that everyone knows should have been a loss, something along the lines of PSU only having 10 players on the field.

I bet a lot of the guys…

I bet a lot of the guys playing for Cristobal realized this week that their HS head coaches weren't that bad.

This. I don't have the…

This. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but if memory serves correctly we had plenty of explosive plays last year against the teams we clearly took most seriously: PSU, OSU, and TCU.

I really think Harbaugh and…

I really think Harbaugh and this entire coaching staff have been taking the long view this season in terms of rotating players and clock management in order to keep guys healthy. Michigan is currently averaging 59.7 plays per game on offense, whereas Penn State is averaging 80.6. Meanwhile due to their suburb ability to get off the field, Michigan's defense is averaging 52.3 plays per game whereas OSU is averaging 65. In a year where we have so many veterans on both sides of the ball, I'm personally fine with forgoing a few in game reps if it means we get to the hardest part of the season with less wear and tear than our opponents. Let Frames Janklin and company worry about padding their stats and proving their toughness. We have bigger goals.

I'm pretty sure he has a…

I'm pretty sure he has a ring case with a spot for a national championship ring. I remember him mentioning it in an interview.

I wouldn't put it past…

I wouldn't put it past Harbaugh to have Ben Herbert act as head coach for one of the games.

I love that their giving…

I love that they're giving some of the younger and lesser known players a spotlight in these videos.

Do we currently have an Alex…

Do we currently have an Alex Orji goal line package? If not, do you think there'd be any benefit to adding one?
