Sherrone Moore

Sometimes it’s running more, sometimes it’s throwing more, and sometimes it’s SHERRONE MOORE!

The best thing that happened from yesterday's game was OSU now worried about UM just running the ball all game and gashing them. Ryan Day having a nightmare of Haskins over and over again. OSU knows their D is not as good as PSU's D and UM still ran 200 plus yards at a good ypc.

Prepare for that OSU. Harbaugh and Moore are going to do anything they can to steamroll OSU.

Very happy for the man, but there is no excuse for shutting down the passing game.

You've got the best QB to ever wear the maize and blue, a heismann candidate no less and you don't allow him to throw a pass in the 2nd half?

That sequence inside the 10 yard line was inexcusable.

There’s a difference between being conservative and being one dimensional.

At what point did the game feel in doubt? The scariest moment was when JJ threw a dumb pass into a crowd while being pulled to the ground.

There will be games when we have to take that risk bc we need passing yards and more scoring, but this wasn't one of them. Michigan was in control the whole game. Penn State had to have trick plays, Michigan penalties, 4th down conversions, and uncalled holds just to get one drive down the field. Also, I like the fact that whatever pass plays, motions, and formations Michigan has for big games and gotta-have-it situations, all got kept in the bag to use against OSU.

Moore put up the shield wall, protected UM from a season-ending disaster, and gave Barnhart+OL less to think about and more to destroy, all within the bounds of what Moore knows well - OL.

They were a little rattled by Petittys coaching-tampering and Moore put blinders on our horses and let em slice through the flames.

It was the right call to play this game conservatively vs that PSU defense. Keep the ball away, burn clock, impose will, survive possibly the worst emotional/mental circumstances these boys will have to face this year.

We are good with him sticking around although your premise for if he is primetime or not is crap. Dude had 3 duties. Tackles we're getting rolled over.

Defense was playing extremely well. He did what he needed to do to win. You know what Patriots used to do with Brady. There are games where Brady will just hand the ball over and over again. They cared about winning. Not the stat line. Moore can and will improve but looking around the college landscape, Moore cannot be that bad if Franklin can coach at PSU for this long.

He is an excellent leader and it shows.

How can you be so sure?

One interception makes that a whole different game. JJ getting his head taken off by their pass rush makes the end of the season very different, or at least kills a drive completely. You want rushed throws into tight spots covered by future NFL DBs when the team hasn't had to really do that all year?

What you suggest comes with inherent risk and winning that turnover battle was key to winning that game.

Experienced professionals that know the team and players were present and watching from a booth above.  I trust what they were seeing, you know better because?

I’ll be curious to know why we ran it so many times in a row. Were there concerns with JJ’s throwing arm (doubtful), concerns with not having enough time for pass pro (plausible but I doubt it), or did Moore just want to take this whole sign stealing situation and throw it right in Penn State’s face. That reason is my personal favorite.

Michigan is going to telegraph for you exactly what it wants to do. You won’t even need to steal, decode, decipher, or whatever else you want to say with our signs. It’s not going to even bother passing the ball, and you are still going to lose.

Yeah that's where I disagree.

I'm fine with calling 30 runs in a row because we have such an incredible O-line that we could rely on it . . to a point.
Just because it worked, doesn't mean it was 100% the right decision.

Not being able to get a 1st down was not conservative.
Being predictable was not conservative.
Having to punt it back to the other team multiple times isn't conservative.
Not being able to keep running clock because you have given PSU the ball back certainly isn't conservative.
Or I guess by another definition, too conservative to be 100% logical.

It worked & I'm thrilled but Moore did have JJ try that nice long (risky!) PA that ended up in a PSU PI.  by accident, he wanted that pass play.

A teensy bit more balance and we wouldn't have had to keep punting (which can be risky).
It's not like PSB defensive backs were having errand JJ throws slip through their fingers lol.

Like I said, I was fine with 30 runs, the O-line and the incredible D made it possible.  Just would have liked to see our D with a bit more r3st as we marched down the field.

Umm, that field goal drive for UM took up 8 minutes and nearly the rest of the third quarter that was left. It was a great strategy and although the scoreboard doesn’t show it, that was a total beat down of a top ten team, on the road, in a loud and hostile environment, with Harbaugh on the sidelines. All things considered, it was a more dominating game than the scoreboard showed and a more thorough win over PSU than OSU had.

I agree with you and I agree with JabberWock as well. He did what was working and why go away from something that worked. It was conservative and looked like a Harbaugh game and he learned from him. Who am I to challenge a coach who learned from Harbaugh with so many accolades in his lifetime.
