Corum's Speech/Interview after the PSU Game
Just watched the PSU game for the second time. Every bit as enjoyable!
I was really struck, this time, by Corum's emotional speech/interview at the end. Watch it here.
I'll call it the "Keep Fighting" speech.
The transcript:
(he was asked what he thought about how Coach Moore had done to begin)
"I expected nothing less. I expect nothing less from any of my Michigan Men.
We did this for Michigan.
What are you going to do when your back is against the wall?
When you feel like everyone's against you. What are you going to do?
Are you going to cower down?
I was taught to stand on all ten.
Keep fighting. Keep fighting. Keep punching!
Keep going! Keep going!
I'm so proud of the University. I'm so proud of my guys.
The coaches... you know, Coach Harbaugh: this is for you, baby.
Everything that's going on right now, it's just bringing us closer together.
I love my team. All praise to God."
Gave me chills. Corum is a gem. Go Blue!

exceptionally high character kids achieving equally high quality results.
love these kids, their coach, and our school.
it really is michigan vs. the relevant football world
go blue!

Incredibly well said.
There will be endless goal post moving this week by pundits whose opinions mean absolutely nothing. Those people do not deserve your attention.
What this team accomplished in the face of unprecedented and completely undeserved adversity cannot be praised enough, just an incredible response. They stacked the deck for Frames/PSU and it. did. not. matter.
To quote one of Blake's teammates: We are the storm.
Beat Maryland.
GO BLUE!

This would explain what bothers some of our other key competitors in the Big Ten the most. More the pity.

We are blessed that he came back this season. It's almost unfair that we got a guy that should've won the Heisman a year ago (had he not gotten hurt) to return. And stats plus individual awards had nothing to do with the decision.
November 12th, 2023 at 10:07 PM ^
It still grinds me that he got injured last year. He would have been the difference maker in the playoff.
November 12th, 2023 at 11:11 PM ^
Maybe Allan Hallers comment about player safety was due to the knowledge that Ryan Walters having our signals last year led to the injury. I think they should be investigated.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:20 AM ^
You don't need an investigation to apply "justice" any more - Illinois football should be banned for 2 years. (It hurts the eyes anyhow)
November 13th, 2023 at 8:10 AM ^
Edwards not being healthy had a lot to do with that as well. Remember the start of the TCU game he broke out for a huge run with a bad knee. Michigan is up 7-0 if he's not hurt.
November 12th, 2023 at 11:04 PM ^
Eh, another team got a guy that actually did win the Heisman last year to return, and they're not doing nearly as well.
November 12th, 2023 at 9:32 PM ^
i didn't want to start a thread but I think this would be the right place to ask. Corum's turkey drive is next week, I looked and couldn't find if it's a Charity or if he forks the bill. If someone knows and has a link , I'd love to donate..
Corum's post game interview should be on display anytime someone ask " describe a Michigan man".
go blue
November 12th, 2023 at 10:26 PM ^
I think those have all been out of his own pocket. NIL money and maybe personal connection donations, but I don't think there has been any public donation effort for his turkey drive.
November 13th, 2023 at 12:51 AM ^
Our family friend in Ypsi received a turkey last year from Corum and said he was beyond generous, compassionate, and empathetic. What an awesome guy, and love that he does this!
November 12th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
The last few years have produced some all time great wolverines. Aidan Hutchinson, JJ McCarthy, Mikey Saintristril. Blake Corum might be the greatest out of them all.
November 12th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Barrett, Zinter, Haskins, Donovan, Wilson, Keegan, Johnson, Colson…….the list goes on and on. Go Blue!

"You don't compare things. You don't compare, especially you don't compare great to great."
- Jim Harbaugh
November 13th, 2023 at 6:42 AM ^
But he's compared JJ to himself...Great to great.
November 12th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
He's a better man than he is a football player, and as a football player, he's one of the very best!

Can’t wait to see what this class becomes in 20 years. World class character.

To all recruits (and their parents) considering M:
Any chance this is the type of camaraderie that might be a positive thing for you?
For further consideration, review the Sherrone Moore postgame as well. There is a bit of a pattern.

Disgusting what the B1G is doing to these kids.

I truly became a Michigan fan around 2006 but didn’t start really following until around 2011. I’ve endured some rough stretches of Michigan football so to see what Jim Harbaugh has built is pretty amazing.
I love Michigan football because I know what the football program stands for. It stands for hard work, character, and turning boys into men. Might not be perfect, might trip and fall along the way, but Michigan has always tried to take a relative high road in comparison to other programs and to instill life lessons in addition to playing good ball. It was about more than a game but teaching how to be successful in life.
Screw Freep and ESPN and all the naysayers. Regardless of whether we win a national championship this season and whatever happens with signgate, I am proud of this team and program. Tarnished my foot. To overcome the challenges over these last few seasons from the Anderson scandal and media frenzy about Jim on the hot seat in 2021 to proving Michigan’s win against OSU wasn’t just a fluke in 2022 to how they have handled the distractions this season is something else.
That’s life lessons, man! Life hits hard, life can be unfair, everything can seem stacked against you. But that’s what separate the men from the boys – fighters versus pretenders. Men, true fighters, pick themselves up and push forward. Pretenders talk but stay down when the going gets rough.
Go Blue.

I was in school in the mid 80s when JH was our QB. The guy has the "it" factor as does Blake and JJ and team.
We didn't ask for UM vs. Everybody but Ohio, MSU and perhaps PSU got into the year of a clown (Peter Principled) commish.
GO Blue ALWAYS!

As Brian said in his HTTV writeup, Blake Corum is " 'do the right thing', the person". What an exceptional young man, and such a great representation of the culture that's been developed these past few years.
November 13th, 2023 at 1:02 AM ^
People keep calling that blood, but I think a fuller context is deserved. That’s “only blood” insofar as blood is inside us and this is showing us everything beneath the skin of Blake’s nasal bridge. Let your eyes follow up toward the accordioned tape of skin at the top.
This guy basically had his skin ripped off like some price tag that you only bothered to scrape to the edge, and it still can’t manage to hit the top five list for things on Blake Corum’s mind.
Focus; toughness; leadership.
#2 may be the consummate example of all Great Things About Football.
November 13th, 2023 at 6:09 AM ^
I am so proud of this team. Everyone is against them. Some are even poking fun their emotions. It’s beyond pathetic. You cannot even begin to understand what they were going through leading up to kick off. I’m so tired of the narrative. You cannot control or be aware of what someone is doing 24/7.
hopefully part of this clip makes it to the stadium intro for OSU game.
November 13th, 2023 at 6:49 AM ^
He showed much more class and poise than coach Moore. I didn't like how Coach acted I his interview with the bad language to the lady intervening him. Blake is a man of class and integrity!
November 13th, 2023 at 8:00 AM ^
Look, none of us know the intense pressure Moore was under the past 2 days. He had essentially 24 hours to help prepare the team for the biggest game of the season to date and anybody with a pulse could see how much that win meant to him. He didn't even have time to process all the pressures that came with this game and he let it all out when it was over.
If anything it was on the network not bleeping out the words because they're on a delay.
Franklin is 0-1 against opposing OCs. Moore earned those F bombs.

She is a big girl, she'll be okay. I promise.
(as a sidenote, that "lady" said that she was moved to tears seeing how emotional he was...can't blame her, I was too. You could also hear her say, "so good to see you" off camera, after interviewing JJ...she knows these guys a heck of a lot better than we do)
November 13th, 2023 at 8:08 AM ^
When I heard the Corum interview...I immediately thought.
"That was the Florida/Tebow speech. They're going to build a statue for this team."
It was raw. Powerful. Perfect.
I want the Coach Herb photo of Corum, with the words of the speech over it. If I have time, I may have to make it myself.

You can tell the team is focused and the chemistry is unbelievable. That will take them far this season.
