Some positive vibes today

Submitted by TK on October 26th, 2023 at 7:22 PM

There’s been a lot of buzz today about the meetings with the NCAA being positive overall and there are people breathing a sigh of relief. Seen from some different places there’s been to proof of other coaches involvement.

Here’s a paywalled discussion on the Fort if anyone is interested but it appears things have moved in a positive direction at least at this junction. There’s a long way to go, but rivals thinking that Michigan would be reduced to a smoking crater might be disappointed in the end. Let’s hope.

I’m honestly trying to figure out what the new positive stuff is from today? NCAA came in and met with some group within the University of Michigan. It wasn’t the coaches. They didn’t clear Michigan of wrongdoing or say the investigation is done. The timeline never matched up for Michigan to be hampered this year because of the 90 days. The Bigten and the CFP are still the ones who ultimately decide Michigan’s fate this year. Did I miss something that really changed the outlook today? Twitter is all over the place with articles and information, no different than the last several days.

Which is huge because the way the media is running with it they made it seem like there was some a avalanche of evidence out there that the NCAA was going to use to “bring Michigan down.” And the way the meetings went today made it seem, from what I’ve read, that there isn’t anything close to a smoking gun just yet.

There's no way the B1G and CFP would ban Michigan from the conference championship or CFP until the NCAA investigation is done. Can you imagine the blowback if they were banned and then it turns out that they did nothing wrong? In addition, the TV networks would never allow that. Michigan is a hugggeee TV draw and that = $$$.

The CFP has already said as much .  Apparently the head chair starts off every meeting reminding the members of there charter/ mission statement or whatever.  Which basically states that they are not a governing body or any kind of moral enforcement committee. Every team eligible to be ranked is to be treated the same and only if a team were to be directly under a post season ban would they consider adjusting there vote on said team.

I think the positive part is that nothing immediate is likely to happen, such as Harbaugh being suspended or the team receiving a postseason ban for this season. Granted, these things were unlikely to begin with given the information that we think we know ( a lot of borderline dishonest journalism has been presented so far).

But as far as future penalties and what else the NCAA may uncover, that’s up in the air.

There wasn't much new there so I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted. Positive vibez from the coaching / staff interviews, but thats about it.

Anyone that can do math and knows about the 90 days already knew nothing was going to happen before the end of the season, so that isn't exactly breaking news.

So, anything good is behind the paywall. Anything negative and sensational is on free websites which relies on clicks.

Glad it went well. Dying to hear if lawyers were involved.

Random thought. I was on State St. last week for the first time since late spring. M added new, much taller, shielding around the outdoor practice fields abutting the road. Perhaps they were worried about someone recording practice? The new screening has to be 15’ or more.

Some other positive news… Fanatics and lots of sites are offering large discounts on Michigan Apparel… good time for early holiday shopping

I deleted a sappy paragraph about loving our school and teams no matter what… instead I want to know where our Peaky Blinders of the Law Quad are at? Who’s the computer engineer Al Capone? I hope to Bo that people are meeting about how to create wrath parallel to the  ending of all The Godfather movies and make those that leaked, those that conspired, those that threw the mud… pay beyond imagination .  I’ll be quiet now, as I have lost too much sleep over this… but yeah, light the beacons, rally the troops… please, to the people smarter and more able, let me see them pay!!!

My positive vibe is that connor has not been fired. All the outside noise is claiming we are going down in a fiery crash because the evidence is damning. If that was the case he would be gone.I have no doubt his days at Michigan are probably numbered. But the fact that it didnt happen immediately gives me some hope.

NCAA should put a stop to this immediately.  Is this the new thing?—sponsor investigations to dig up dirt on your opponents?  UM alumni body is the largest in the world and very affluent.  Do all the Buckeye coaches, staff and players want to be looking over their shoulders all the time?

Isaiah Hole basically confirmed that OSU hired the investigation firm. That's my interpretation because be literally said that the truth is being discussed and the people that are correct are speculating and don't know they're actually very correct. He says a few more details will come out that look bad for Michigan, but hold fast. Michigan will come out okay in the end.

That's all good and all but it doesn't change the fact that this whole investigation was orchestrated and leaked to cause maximum damage to the image of U of M. Even if everybody is cleared or at worst a wrist slap, the 2023 season is tainted now in the eyes of the public. A Michigan Big Ten or national championship will always have an asterisk. And that is the goal of this investigation. Always has been.

Who cares. The only way this would even matter is if you care what other people say. Football still has to be played and players still have to execute. If we do that the best this year and win a championship then we deserve to be crowned the best team. Who cares what other people say.
