Texas has lost a lot. There stud DT’s, both stud wr’s, stud TE and stud rb. Yeah that got Ewers and talent in the wings but I think Michigan wins this game at home and should beat USC and Washington. The season comes down to Oregon and OSU and frankly 10-2 should still get them in maybe even an outside shot at a home game
I like Orji but there will be a lot of eyes on the spring game and if none of the QB’s stand out there will likely be a talented qb from a lesser program looking to transfer

This is great. I’ll be honest I was a little underwhelmed early in the season but dude was a straight beast down the stretch. This dline could remain the best in the country which is amazing. If Minter and safety’s stay I see know reason this defense can’t repeat its dominance. Key players will be missed and it will be a talll task for the youngsters to repeat last years depth but Benny should slide into Jenkins snaps and Mikey is obviously a unicorn but keep in mind that position is typically a safety/ corner hybrid spot and he was talented enough to make it a corner/ safety hybrid with emphasis on coverage ability. I know people like McBurrows but I’m kind of expecting Sabb or another safety to fill that spot keeping all 3 on the field.

You can feel however you want about his decision. However if you don’t think another year would improve his draft stock your subconsciously saying he won’t be very successful in the NFL. Players improve from year to year. Older experienced qb’s tend to improve by leaps and bounds. That moment comes when everything slows down back there and you can see what defenses are trying to do to you before they even do it. There’s a reason all these elder qb’s are having so much success across college football. If you think he would come back and just be the same player it’s pretty hard for you to flip that argument into him developing into a great NFL qb.
I’m a total NFL draft wanna be scout geek and yeah I’ve been wrong as much as the next guy but I don’t think he’s ready personally. Right off the bat guys that are 20/21 years old and only play 3 years of college ball have an extremely low success rate in the NFL. He still needs to develop a lot imo. He misses a fair share of reads and doesn’t always do a great job going threw his progressions. He can obviously make the wow throws from time to time and fit the ball in very tight windows but accuracy is about consistency and he is not consistently accurate.
Just simple stuff a lot of the times when the average mgoblogger says pass completed move the sticks what else matters. That’s not how nfl scouts watch film. That 15 yard crossing route when the receiver has to slow down and reach back for it can be a pick at the next level. His struggles on the deep ball have been documented as well. He is also slight of frame and I think that will worry some scouts. A lot of these 200 and under guys aren’t panning out. He’s what Zach Wilson’s size? Probably similar athlete with a little less pure arm strength ? Not saying he’s ZW but some scouts mite make the comparison.

All seemingly highly unlikely mess aside. With some tackles that are probably elite run blockers and suspect pass blockers. Potentially still elite defense. You can win a lot of games playing this football

I don’t think this is true. I’d think most of the core would stay to play for Moore. Probably seal JJ’s fate to the NFL. I also don’t think it’s possible that the players “know” what he’s doing. Even if he told them his heart is in trying to win a SB it still takes the right offer and situation that he mite not get. On the other hand if he’s telling them 100% he’s staying it makes no sense not to get it over with. So there’s obviously variables that could change what he does in either direction. He may have gave them some word salad, or things like planning and scheduling for the future/ spring are being interpreted as he’s staying.
If he does leave it seems like Moore is the next in line which I’m good with but torn about at the same time. Minter just feels like he’d be the bigger loss which is subconsciously telling.

It’s a bit of a 2 sided coin. Proven ability to develop mid 4- 3 star talent into champions and nfl draft picks. On the other side the fruits of that success should ripen with a few more 5 stars. It’s complete apples to oranges so no one take this the wrong way but I’m somewhat reminded of when RR came in and seemed to be content recruiting the same caliber of player he had so much success with at WVU instead of taking full advantage of the brand.
Washington for me. It’s two big 10 teams going forward beating 2 SEC teams for an all Big10 championship. I think we fair better against them as many have noted. More likely to be able to get the run game going on offense but on defense although both teams have elite wr’s I think our corners match up better with UW’s bigger wr’s as opposed to Texas ultra fast wr’s. Texas having hoe field advantage is just another piece.
Texas on the other still gives its own level of awesomeness. Particularly if JJ and Ewers both come back. If that week 2 game next season has the billing of a national championship rematch as well as a JJ vs Ewers potential #1 draft pick potential Heisman showdown we could literally be talking about one of the most hyped non conference games in modern college football history. We won’t get to see it but maybe there will be practice rumblings? The coaches are going to get a hell of look at what they have in Orji over the next month as he plays the roll of Milroe against the starting defense. If the defense contains Milroe you can expect to hear just about everyone from the coaches to the players make mention of Orji as an unsung hero in there preparation. Heck if he plays good enough they’re likely to expand the Orji package for the game.
I mentally preparing for JJ to leave in think it’s more like 80% he comes back. Someone will come threw with a sizeable nil package for him. I mean a few times a game you get Wilson/Loveland/Edwards with a 1 on 1 google straight down the field and JJ just cocks back and bombs it. You see Ewers/Penix/ Daniels do this all the time. I’m rewatching the game right now. Oline was not great but JJ is holding the ball on a lot of these sacks/pressures. He’s a great talent and I’m so grateful he’s Michigans QB. I don’t just say this for selfish reasons but he is still very young and needs to work on processing things a lot quicker. He needs another year. The stats back this up very few are truly ready after a 3 year college career

I found this kind of interesting. Norm and Phil Parker are not related. Phil Parker was Norm Parker’s successor as defensive coordinator at Iowa. Both were/are almost oddly extremely loyal to Iowa and great at there jobs. Norm Parker also coached Phil Parker at Michigan State.
Iowa pays Phil 1.4 mil a year so he is getting very good money for a DC. I’m somewhat surprised MSU hasn’t attempted to open up the checkbook to bring him home.
For whatever reason for the longest time our receivers seem to be able to get separation against very talented OSU corners but struggle to do so against other good defenses. Having a true elite #1 wr really has seemed to be one of the big keys to unlocking these modern beast mode defenses. Personally I’m conflicted . FSU has an absolutely elite defense when motivated. NFL wr’s , good oline and good rb. Would also get there 2nd string qb back for playoffs. But if I’m being honest I also think Texas and Bama are better than FSU and I mite even feel that way if Travis was healthy.

It’s a bit of a 2 sided coin. Proven ability to develop mid 4- 3 star talent into champions and nfl draft picks. On the other side the fruits of that success should ripen with a few more 5 stars. It’s complete apples to oranges so no one take this the wrong way but I’m somewhat reminded of when RR came in and seemed to be content recruiting the same caliber of player he had so much success with at WVU instead of taking full advantage of the brand.

Washington for me. It’s two big 10 teams going forward beating 2 SEC teams for an all Big10 championship. I think we fair better against them as many have noted. More likely to be able to get the run game going on offense but on defense although both teams have elite wr’s I think our corners match up better with UW’s bigger wr’s as opposed to Texas ultra fast wr’s. Texas having hoe field advantage is just another piece.
Texas on the other still gives its own level of awesomeness. Particularly if JJ and Ewers both come back. If that week 2 game next season has the billing of a national championship rematch as well as a JJ vs Ewers potential #1 draft pick potential Heisman showdown we could literally be talking about one of the most hyped non conference games in modern college football history. We won’t get to see it but maybe there will be practice rumblings? The coaches are going to get a hell of look at what they have in Orji over the next month as he plays the roll of Milroe against the starting defense. If the defense contains Milroe you can expect to hear just about everyone from the coaches to the players make mention of Orji as an unsung hero in there preparation. Heck if he plays good enough they’re likely to expand the Orji package for the game.
I mentally preparing for JJ to leave in think it’s more like 80% he comes back. Someone will come threw with a sizeable nil package for him. I just don’t understand the complete lack of deep shots all season. I’m not talking about the scramble and throw for 20-30 yards. I mean a few times a game you get Wilson/Loveland/Edwards with a 1 on 1 google straight down the field and JJ just cocks back and bombs it. You see Ewers/Penix/ Daniels do this all the time. I’m rewatching the game right now. Oline was not great but JJ is holding the ball on a lot of these sacks/pressures. He’s a great talent and I’m so grateful he’s Michigans QB. I don’t just say this for selfish reasons but he is still very young and needs to work on processing things a lot quicker. He needs another year. The stats back this up very few are truly ready after a 3 year college career

I found this kind of interesting. Norm and Phil Parker are not related. Phil Parker was Norm Parker’s successor as defensive coordinator at Iowa. Both were/are almost oddly extremely loyal to Iowa and great at there jobs. Norm Parker also coached Phil Parker at Michigan State.

For whatever reason for the longest time our receivers seem to be able to get separation against very talented OSU corners but struggle to do so against other good defenses. Having a true elite #1 wr really has seemed to be one of the big keys to unlocking these modern beast mode defenses. Georgia’s all time defense got wrecked by JaMo and OSU was giving them all they could handle before MHJ went down. Some of this fronts, Michigans now included you can’t expect to just line up and run them over

Who even is that ? Idk. I kind of feel like we best matchup with Washington as they feel like the one team we could potentially really enforce the run game on. Bama really feels like a bad matchup although the the D could tear up Bama’s qb if he’s having one of his off days I feel like there D is essentially Penn State with more beef and better lbers. There corners can man up our wt’s without help and there speed on the edges will be a nightmare. Much of the same with FSU although I feel much more confident UM’s D would dominant that matchup.

Personally I’m conflicted . FSU has an absolutely elite defense when motivated. NFL wr’s , good oline and good rb. Would also get there 2nd string qb back for playoffs. I hate the idea of leaving out a team due to injury especially an undefeated acc champ with an out of conference win over LSU to boot. But if I’m being honest I also think Texas and Bama are better than FSU and I mite even feel that way if Travis was healthy.
My guess is the Travis injury gives the committee an out and they will take it because choosing between Bama and Texas for a last spot is a nightmare.
