Totally agreed. Although the Tigers did needlessly mess with their traditional smoothed English D that they always had for their home uniforms and changed it to the classic English D that's on their hats. Not a huge deal but I just hate it when teams mess with their classic uniforms and colors.

I hate the new uniforms. The…

I hate the new uniforms. The classic blue and grey is awesome and shouldn't be messed with. I hate it when franchises needlessy mess with their classic uniforms/colors. The worst is definitely in the NBA where it's hard to tell what a team's official colors are anymore because they have so many alternate uniforms with colors and court colors that don't match their traditional colors. So stupid. Anyway, I am going to be upset if the Lions wear the black unforms for more than 2 games this year.

As a Lions fan, I'm very happy to see Fields go away! He was a constant pain in the ass to the Lions.

Great post, loved the analysis.

Rob Parker is the worst. He…

Rob Parker is the worst. He is such a Michigan hater. He said that Michigan shouldn't be celebrating their "tainted" championship. Several years ago he said that Michigan is such an overrated program because they had only won a split NC since the early 1900s, completely skipping their NC's in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Fuck him. He's a troll.

I love Larry David, but I…

I love Larry David, but I strongly disagree with him here. Football without field goals/extra points just ceases to be football anymore.

Actually, I think it would be fun to move the field goal posts back to the front of the end zone like it used to be back before the mid 70s. Watching players run into the posts and passes bounce off the posts would be fun. I'd enjoy the chaos.

Fire Sherrone and hire Lance Leipold before it’s too late.

Dumbest mgoblog comment of all time? Fire a coach before he's even started? lol!

I hope one of the reporters…

I hope one of the reporters will ask Jim Harbaugh at some point soon "do you feel like you set Sherrone up for success given that you took most of the coaching staff with him which will lead to mass exodus in the transfer portal?"

I don't put any of the blame on Sherrone. The blame goes to Warde for not having locked these guys down.

Ugh, YES, Trouble with the Snap. How could I forget that??

I thought about putting the Luke Hancock game, which was heartbreaking, but for some reason didn't rise to the levels of the other ones I mentioned.

JJ passed as a freshman…

JJ passed as a freshman because McNamara was a limited passer. There was no need for Orji to pass, since JJ was a stellar passer. Seeing Orji's high school highlights, he sure looks like he has the arm talent to be a good passer.

Am I the only one that didn…

Am I the only one that didn't want Taulia as a potential transfer QB to Michigan? He could make some great throws, and has good mobility, but it's not worth all the game-changing terrible INTs/fumbles/avoidable huge sacks that happen when he's the QB.

Can somebody explain what a …

Can somebody explain what a "show cause" penalty is and why it would screw Michigan if they agreed to Harbaugh's contract demands and then the NCAA gives Harbaugh a "show cause"? I googled it and the language is confusing, so I thought maybe somebody could dumb it down for me?

Hey, idiots...give the ball…

Hey, idiots...give the ball to Montgomery for God's sake! Gibbs can get explosives but doesn't have the power and gets stopped for only 1 yard too often. Stupid play calling.

I'll never ever understand…

I'll never ever understand why the Lions always go away from Montgomery for long periods of the game. The guy is good for at least 4-5 yards on most runs! Gibbs is great and can get the explosive runs but he also has a lot of runs for loss that ruin drives. Gotta keep mixing Montgomery in.

I used to live in Huntsville…

I used to live in Huntsville and I agree, it is a cool town. I enjoyed living there. Apparently most Alabamians don't consider Huntsville to be part of Alabama, so that should be your clue that it is actually a cool city.

Is there a reason why…

Is there a reason why everyone calls him "Pete" Finebaum when his first name is actually Paul? Some kind of inside joke?

So the WSJ is still sticking…

So the WSJ is still sticking with their story that Harbaugh's contract offer was rescinded, when everyone said that that was completely false?

I don't know anything about…

I don't know anything about this guy. Is he any good?

How much you wanna bet that…

How much you wanna bet that the Pistons win 2 games all year and still wind up with the 5th pick due to the NBA's idiotic draft lottery?

Are we really down to the …

Are we really down to the #20 overall class for 2024? Weren't we #1 earlier in the year? Have we really fallen that far??

(No subject)

This is an intriguing and…

This is an intriguing and simple idea. I like it. It guarantees a true conference champion and prevents playing your rival again in the championship game.

The conference semifinals…

The conference semifinals replace the traditional 9th conference game, and any teams that don't make the semifinal would instead play a showcase B1G conference game against a B1G team that they hadn't played yet with a similar record. So, regardless of your record, you'll still be playing that 9th conference game... 4 teams will be playing that 9th game in the semifinals, while the other 14 teams play the 9th conference game as a showcase. In other words, there are no added weeks/games to the regular season.

The conference semifinal…

The conference semifinal wouldn't be an extra game. It would replace the traditional 9th conference game, and any teams that don't make the semifinal would instead play a showcase B1G conference game against a B1G team that they hadn't played yet with a similar record. So, regardless of your record, you'll still be playing that 9th conference game... 4 teams will be playing that 9th game in the semifinals, while the other 14 teams play the 9th conference game as a showcase.

Huh? The same Washingto team…

Huh? The same Washingto team that beat Oregon twice and is undefeated in the best conference this year is worse than PSU, LSU and OSU?? If you're going based purely off of recruiting rankings, maybe... but based off of how good the "team" is, you're way off.

Wow, that was an insanely…

Wow, that was an insanely stupid play call for 4th and 1. Slow developing run with Gibbs??? Are you fucking kidding me?? Where is Montgomery??

Did he actually say that or…

Did he actually say that or are you just joking?

Why are you mentioning the…

Why are you mentioning the BCS? That hasn't existed for years.

Anyway, with the wildly unbalanced schedules that adding 4 teams creates, how can we fairly determine a B1G champion? There may be years where 3 teams go undefeated in conference play, resulting in 1 team being left out. There will likely be other years where one team has an incredibly difficult conference schedule and loses 2 of those difficult games, while another team avoids most or all of those difficult teams and only loses 1 game. How is it fair that the team with the much more difficult schedule and 2 losses doesn't make the B1G title game?

I think the only fair way to do it is to create 4 mini divisions and have the B1G championship determined through semifinals between the 4 divisions winners and the winners of those semifinals meet up in the championship game. To make room for this extra game, reduce the official conference schedule by 1 game, and then the teams that don't make the semifinals are matched up that week.

So you'd like to burn…

So you'd like to burn everything down and start fresh with an outside hire, and risk another Rich Rod/Brady Hoke type experience and mass exits from recruits instead of sticking with the continuity of the recent amazing and consistent success of our program by having Sherrone Moore take over when Harbaugh leaves? For me personally, I would love to just keep the current train rolling instead of starting from scratch with an outside hire.

Looks like Aaron Glen has implemented the "leave everyone wide open" defense for the 2nd half. Let's see if it pays off for them.

Saban is going to use the "nobody thinks we should be in the CFP" ploy constantly over the next 4 weeks to motivate his team, even though it is patently false.

I'm probably the only one…

I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but I was hoping Georgia would win because I really wanted to see Michigan play Washington in the last ever traditional Rose Bowl. But Georgia ruined it for everyone.

As unfair as it is, I think the committee leaves out FSU.

1. Mich

2. Wash

3. Texas

4. Bama

Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and…

Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and the celebrity guest picker all picking Iowa to win. A 22 pt underdog and they're all picking Iowa to win. All I can say is LOL. Remember that McAfee picked Michigan to lose to Rutgers earlier this year. These guys are all jokers.

Yes, I saw that too and was…

Yes, I saw that too and was very disappointed to hear that. Why do we have to wait for the investigations to play out? That could take months to years! If there's a clause in the contract that says that he can be fired for cause if the NCAA finds that he committed wrongdoing, then why wait??

The funniest part to me are…

The funniest part to me are the OSU fans that are pissed off at the B1G for even allowing the game to take place. They think that Michigan's season should have been ended and the games forfeited to OSU and others that Michigan was supposed to play. Just think about how delusional that is. Even if Michigan committed something incredibly egregious, like hacking into a website to steal practice footage of OSU, do you think for one second that the TV execs would allow Michigan games to be cancelled, particularly the OSU/Mich game?? Yes, it was cancelled in 2020, but those were extraordinary circumstances. To think that the B1G should have cancelled the rest of Michigan's games for a Level 2 or 3 violation that provides a "minimal competetive advantage" that many other schools apparently do, and we're not even sure that Stallions actually broke that rule, is just mind-boggingly insane. Not to mention how much even more of a wussy OSU and their fans would be trying to avoid playing Michigan altogether.

I think there's a very good…

I think there's a very good chance JJ stays. He loves playing at Michigan and wants to leave a legacy as one of the top 3 players in Michigan history. He also said during his Freshman year that he will be staying all 4 years, and I feel like JJ wants to live up to that promise.

Kirk Herbstreit and others…

Kirk Herbstreit and others were trying to argue that a 1 loss Alabama/1 loss Georgia should be in the top 4 over an undefeated FSU because it's about the 4 "best teams" not the best resumes. Isn't it supposed to be about the 4 most deserving teams, not necessarily who you think the 4 best teams are? I think it would be bullshit to leave out a team that won all their games in favor of a 1 loss team.

Take it for what it's worth,…

Take it for what it's worth, but Balas has also been saying that recruits are being told that Sherrone Moore is going to be the next head coach "in waiting" after Harbaugh leaves some day. I know many here will not like that and would like some new, experienced, big-time coach to come in, but to me it makes sense. It provides some "stability" to our coaching situation so that recruits can know what to expect if Harbaugh does bolt at some point... plus, with all the success over the last 3 years, why would we want to deviate strongly from the current coaching and culture paradigm and effectively start all over again with a brand new outside hire and risk another Rich Rod/Hoke era, when we can instead keep our current identity and most of the same coaching staff and also likely not get a bunch of recruits backing out of their committments to Michigan? Moore may not be as great of a coach initially as Harbaugh, but I have confidence that he would grow into the role and do well. I for one would not want this program to start from scratch again. Let's stick with what's working until it stops working!

Completely disagree. If Bama…

Completely disagree. If Bama wins, there's no way a 1 loss non champion gets in over over 0 or 1 loss champions Wash/Oregon, Texas and FSU. Georgia would need help. Imagine the outcry if a 1 loss non champion Georgia got in over an undefeated conf champion FSU or Washington. Would never ever happen.
