Olympic rooting interests are a lot like fantasy football. You have your favorite team that you root for (USA! USA! USA!) but then you get a guy on your fantasy team whom you also want to do well because it makes your fantasy team do well (Go Amene!).

Baseball on the radio is so much better than TV. All 4 of my kids are baseball and Tiger fans because they grew up with the game on the radio every night during the summer. My 2 older girls both got MLB subscriptions when they moved out of state just so they could continue to listen.

As fun as that would be, it doesn't seem likely. They saved, what, $75 million on the Tuck contract? I didn't read this article, but another one said Tracy is planning to sue MSU for $75 million. If she was a plant, then she magnificently turned the tables on both Mel and Staee.
Although this sort of outcome would be par for the course in EL.

A Bears' fan I work with asked: "Would you rather have the Lions' receiving corp or the Bears' receiving corp?" I told him it was the wrong question. Would you rather have the Michigan cohesion or the OSU mercenaries? JJ McCarthy is a winner who raises the level of everyone who plays with him.
And yet Michigan has beaten OSU 3 years in a row and just won a national championship. Joel Klatt commented yesterday that the cohesion of the Michigan football team was like nothing he'd ever seen before. These guys truly love their teammates and would do anything for them, as opposed to mercenary football. Maybe this is just weeding out a mercenary.
This isn't quite the argument to make. It impacted actually getting him on the field for USC. If USC was giving houses to recruits' families but other school didn't because the rules didn't allow it, would the USC recruits have chosen other schools?
OSU backers are quietly coming to the realization that Michigan losing Harbaugh wasn't as impactful as they hoped, and Michigan poaching Alford was quite impactful.
This is so spot on. I work with two Sparty grads. We rarely talk sports because it's gotten quite heated in the past. But their little digs are usually in the same vein as "bad tattoo, dude." They've got nothing else. Even Michigan basketball's implosion was so complete that there was no meat on the bone for them.
As a former sports writer who cut his teeth taking calls from coaches to create high school basketball box scores - girls' names are the worst as far as spelling variation. Jenni, Jenny, Jennie, Ginny, Ginnie...Kathy, Kathi, Kathie, Cathy, Cathi, Cathie, Cathey...etc. God forbid if you spelled someone's precious daughter's name wrong in an agate type box score.
If that happens, I don't know if Michigan wins a national championship. Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and LSU were just at another level through that stretch. Michigan would have made waves in the playoffs, but they didn't have a QB that could win it all. Playing this out, would Harbaugh have left for the NFL earlier after 4 years of banging up against historically great teams?
Despite the agony of those seasons, I'm happy with how things turned out. Falling, getting up, falling again, getting up again, etc - the reward is so much sweeter after fighting through such adversity.
I think the Edwards 75 yard and 85 yard TD runs were two of the greatest plays in Michigan history, but I'd give the game ball to the 2021 win. That set the stage for everything that followed.
NCAA: "OK, that's settled. Now on to Connor Stallions. Since you should have been on probation, which we've made retroactive to the time Coach Harbaugh bought the cheeseburgers, when this most egregious violation took place (think of the safety of the players!), the penalty for signgate is DEATH!"
