Haven’t posted for awhile…

Haven’t posted for awhile but I’m on here every day during season.

On Field: Also Blake throwing up the 65. Special mention to Kenneth Grant for tracking down PSU RB in the open field. 340lb men shouldn’t be able to do that.

Anger Moment: Normally this would be easy but we went 15-0 and won the NC so true anger moments were few and far between. I’ll go with Semaj muffing the punt in the Rose Bowl. Had strong here we go again vibes at the time.

Surprise Player: I’ll pick on Seth and say the pass rushing improvement of Jaylen Harrell. A man once thought to have zero pass rush ability made the game-sealing play, along with Rod Moore, when we needed it most.

Favorite Feature: this year it became FFFF. Alex had me amazingly prepared for what was going to happen against Bama and Washington.

Cheers to all. Go Blue. They Did It!!

Those are the options if we want to be competitive.

Not sure how much to trust…

Not sure how much to trust a metric that has PSU at 4th.

Washington’s ratings were…

Washington’s ratings were bonkers. Anywhere from 1-21. Quite the spread.

I’m glad to be with you…

I’m glad to be with you fellow Michigan fans, here at the end of all things...

I think the logical…

I think the logical conclusion is that there is assuredly something behind the scenes that hasn’t been made public yet and that it’s not flattering to say the least.

I live in Ohio. I watch OSU…

I live in Ohio. I watch OSU games almost as closely as I watch Michigan games. My opinion is that this will be a war. The OSU defense is much improved. We beat them the last two years because their defense couldn’t get enough stops. I don’t see us putting up 30+ on their defense. I predict a fairly low-scoring, very close game.

Well done

Well done

I have no doubt Portnoy…

I have no doubt Portnoy would employ him to do this.

Here’s a question I have:… Here’s a question I have: how could Stalions have done this without CMU knowing? Some of those pictures show him close to coaches and he has some sort of sheet in his hand. It sure does look like he’s helping out.
The sheer amount of…

The sheer amount of diversity of sources that have now provided “commentary” on this topic is impressive.

Heck why not be generous? At least give them a full 3TDs in 2022 and 2TDs in 2021.

My OSU buddy sent me what I…

My OSU buddy sent me what I believe you were sent as well. It would be very very bad if true.

This is a well organized…

This is a well organized thought. I think it’s likely that the NCAA is somewhat caught off guard by the orchestrated nature of all of these leaks. If Michigan were to find out that the NCAA was the ringleader of the media drip drip, it would further damage the NCAA’s already crumbling reputation and most certainly lead to some kind of litigation. Plus, as much as some in the NCAA don’t like Jim Harbaugh, it’s not in the NCAA’s nature to want ongoing investigations to play out publicly.

100%. Day would be an…

100%. Day would be an absolute fool if he didn’t create plausible deniability.

Wise words Don.

Wise words Don.

I think the positive part is…

I think the positive part is that nothing immediate is likely to happen, such as Harbaugh being suspended or the team receiving a postseason ban for this season. Granted, these things were unlikely to begin with given the information that we think we know ( a lot of borderline dishonest journalism has been presented so far).

But as far as future penalties and what else the NCAA may uncover, that’s up in the air.

It doesn’t seem all that far…

It doesn’t seem all that far-fetched given how much sense it makes.

Good analogy.

Good analogy.

Does their video include…

Does their video include extended filming of an opponents sideline? If so then yes it’s a potential rules violation.

I get what you’re saying but…

I get what you’re saying but I’m just gonna use basic logic and say that if Connor wasn’t good at what he was doing then there would be absolutely no reason for him to be standing next to the coordinators and telling them live what to do given that his “official” job was recruiting analyst.

My understanding is that All…

My understanding is that All 22 does not show the coaches on the sideline. If it did, there really would be no point in what Connor did.

Paying players under the…

Paying players under the table is a potentially traceable and enforceable rule. I’m arguing that the reason there isn’t a rule against signal stealing in general is that if someone is just legitimately good at in-game decoding and guessing, there isn’t much you can do about it if they’re not using technology to gain an advantage. It’s a skill.

I get what you’re saying but…

I get what you’re saying but you also just pointed out how nearly impossible it would be to forbid signal stealing. You pretty much can’t if someone is really good at it by legitimate means. It looks like we were really good at it by illegitimate means and ones that are directly traceable. I would say that now it’s just a matter of what is the penalty for something of this nature?

I agree with you. Cooperate…

I agree with you. Cooperate until you have a reason not to. A reason not to would be an attempt by the NCAA to impose harsher penalties than what is warranted.

Thanks for the insight as a…

Thanks for the insight as a former player and your opinion on how the football program got to where they are (both the good and the bad).

I would genuinely love to…

I would genuinely love to sit down and have a beer with you on this topic. Sounds like the whole thing is a wild tale and hilarious if not for the implications of it all. I hope you’re journaling this along the way or something so that you can give JUB accurate info for his next book.

One theory I had was that…

One theory I had was that Connor would spend the first half trying to decipher who the live signaler is across the field and of course he already has figured out what certain signals mean. At halftime he conveys that info to the coordinators and they use that at their discretion in the second half.

I don’t see the PSU game…

I don’t see the PSU game going down that way but the OSU game would not surprise me if there were reffing shenanigans.

Serious question Sopwith, is…

Serious question Sopwith, is Connor not considered “Athletics Personnel”?

If he is, then this seems cut and dry to me. If they have video evidence that the person sitting in the ticket he paid for is engaging in filming of the opponents sideline and/or evidence that Connor used said film, then he violated in-person scouting.

The university can’t comment…

You seem to have pretty…

You seem to have pretty intimate knowledge of the situation.

Well that could end up being…

Well that could end up being enough for the NCAA to lay down the hammer on Harbaugh and the program.

Bingo! I’m no insider but…

Bingo! I’m no insider but this also seems like the most likely possibility. I would then assume that the NCAA has been sitting on this info for awhile while they gathered as much corroborating evidence as they could.

I tend to agree with you…

I tend to agree with you that the source probably lies with an employee/ex-employee (more likely the latter). There’s a quote about Stalions in the ESPN article that reads “‘He had one role,’ said a source with knowledge of Michigan’s staff.” Well gee, how many people could accurately provide a quote like that?

I’d argue that if he stays in at this point he’s liable to take a huge hit the way the OL is playing.

That looked pretty similar…

That looked pretty similar to the first half against TCU.

What? Not hitting a wide…

What? Not hitting a wide open dude and Edwards not doing his job doomed that drive.

I’m beginning to think this…

I’m beginning to think this was a ploy by the starters to keep the 2nd/3rd string guys off the field tonight.

1st round picks don’t play…

1st round picks don’t play like this. The decision making by McCarthy is ridiculously bad.

I’m wondering if the thought…

I’m wondering if the thought is that Hinton has the most upside as a pass blocker. Keeping JJ healthy is the number one priority this season so I’m willing to sacrifice a little bit of run game success if it meant protecting JJ better.

Not necessarily. Scheduling…

Not necessarily. Scheduling one good OOC game helps with playoff consideration in the 4 team format. UM would likely have been left out last year at 11-1 with a loss to OSU. The same will most likely be true this year.

Would it not be more…

Would it not be more reasonable to say, “I disagree with the premise of Tony Garcia’s article and the conclusions to which he comes?” The article is factually correct, his take is very debatable. I don’t read the Free Press with any regularity and I understand from reading others comments that they have a tendency to paint UM in a negative light, but calling him a troll seems a bit over the top based on my reading of just that article.
