Question re: Mason Graham injury

Submitted by Dan Man on October 9th, 2023 at 7:53 AM

Sorry if I missed this discussed elsewhere on the board, but has there been any official word on whether Graham’s cast will be able to come off before the end of the season?  Obviously he is still a terror with it on, but it would be great not to him slightly hampered for OSU.

He will have to wear a cast anywhere from 4-8 weeks likely and then will move to some form of splint. The answer to the heart of your question is he is not going to have full and 100% use of that paw the rest of the year.

I saw one play where was making a tackle and the cast slid off the player's shoulder pads and  jersey but his other hand was strong enough to grip the jersey and toss the guy to the ground.

Graham will most certainly be limited with trying at someone with the club hand, but if he has an opportunity to bear hug any opponent, they are putting their life in danger.  Minnesota QB had eyes after a play Graham jumped on him like a bearcat that read to me "Coach, I think it is time for the backup!" Harbaugh has said that Kenny G is a gift from the football Gods, so I don't even know what analogy to use for Graham.  My goodness he is a football player if I have ever seen one.  Go Blue!

I think I heard it on Sam's show that the cast will get smaller as the weeks to on. No word on if it will completely come off. Not that I heard of.

Not sure if you've watched OSU this season but UMs entire defensive front could come out with clubbed up hands and still lay waste to that weak sauce offensive line.
