Although I went with 2021…

Although I went with 2021 OSU as the best win, my favorite single moment was stopping Milroe on 4th down. I was surprised by the level of emotion that brought out in me.

If the passing game is so…

If the passing game is so bad that 3rd and 7 becomes a running down, the 2024 season is going to be a real come down. All eyes on the QBs next Saturday. I think Tuttle is their best hope.

McCord played pretty well…

McCord played pretty well for OSU last year, but his sin was not playing up to the standard of the three 1st round picks who preceded him. OSU probably would’ve been better off if Day hadn’t panicked and sent him away. But in Howard, they still have an experienced QB who’s had some success and also have a 5 Star recruit behind him. Michigan has nothing but huge question marks, so much so that fans are touting  Orji without ever having seen him throw a pass in a real game.

They ranked 2nd in the…

They ranked 2nd in the country in points allowed and third in yards allowed, and are returning almost everyone.

OSU and Michigan may have…

OSU and Michigan may have the two best defenses in the country this season. The big question is whether Michigan will have an offense.

Good for him. I’m sure he’s…

Good for him. I’m sure he’s more about getting to work this his new team than wanting the spotlight for himself. I always appreciated Joe Thomas choosing fishing with his dad over attending the draft. He was the first guaranteed top pick I remember who declined the spotlight.

Harbaugh is one of the very…

Harbaugh is one of the very best, and he brought greatness back to Michigan. Moore has an incredibly tough act to follow, and reality is that there is almost zero chance he will be able to match his predecessor, just as Day was never going to be to match Meyer. That isn’t a knock on Moore, but rather an appreciation of how special the last three years were.

Couldn’t have cared any less…

Couldn’t have cared any less. At its peak, as I drove down the freeway, I noticed that it wasn’t quite as bright as it usually is and realized that I’d seen this before…every evening as the sun starts to go down. If it had gone completely dark, it would’ve been something I see every night.

The Fab Five didn’t “totally…

The Fab Five didn’t “totally transform college basketball.” That’s a very Michigan-centric take.

I watched the last few…

I watched the last few minutes of Iowa-LSU to see what all the hype was about. It looked like a bunch of girls playing basketball.

An offense without a capable…

An offense without a capable QB vs. that defense must be brutal to watch. People love to give Iowa shit, but it’s sounding like Michigan may be very Iowaesque in 2024.

Thank you for allowing me to…

Thank you for allowing me to dislike Howard. Also, I never said anything about believing Sanderson’s account to be 100% accurate.

Given his track record in…

Given his track record in public, I highly doubt his version of what happened with Sanderson in private.

How do Harbaugh and Herbert…

How do Harbaugh and Herbert leaving for the NFL, where they won’t be competing against Michigan, mean they’re now against Michigan?

Which means, I think, that…

Which means, I think, that it’s really all about you. You can’t be grateful for the success they achieved at Michigan and the joy it brought you, and wish them well. Instead, there seems to be only anger that they won’t be bringing you more joy. Get used to that anger, I guess, because the chances of anyone at Michigan replicating what Harbaugh did, with a strong assist from Herbert, are tiny.

You can’t replace a guy like…

You can’t replace a guy like that. The best you can do is find someone who might come close.

Ben Herbert also had a 30…

Ben Herbert also had a 30 minute press conference. The man’s intensity is off the charts. There’s no way you can fully replace that.

I have no idea if Davis…

I have no idea if Davis killed himself or if he did, why, but there’s no point in speculating. Sometimes it is because of some physical or emotional pain. Occasionally, it has something to do with trouble the person created for themselves.

No NFL team is going to…

No NFL team is going to draft a player because of what an opposing HC says about him.

Stroud has played high…

Stroud has played high visibility football for three seasons. To try to put the “can’t win big games” label on him at this point is just dumb. He was outstanding in both losses to Michigan and almost beat a Georgia team that dominated everyone, then had the best rookie season ever for an NFL QB. Your Michigan fandom has apparently handicapped your capacity for rational thought.

I’m hoping very much that…

I’m hoping very much that McCarthy will succeed in the NFL, but I KNOW Caleb Williams won’t be nearly the player those singing his praises believe he will be.

He mentioned in his…

He mentioned in his introductory press conference with the Chargers that he wanted to do that and that his inspiration was Jim Rockford from The Rockford Files. For those who are too young, it was a series in which James Garner played an LA private detective who lived in a trailer at the beach.

I’m willing to admit that I…

I’m willing to admit that I knew firing Harbaugh would’ve been one of the biggest mistakes the athletic program ever made. The man is a winner, and always will be. The obstacles he faced at Michigan were significant, so it just took time. I’m also willing to admit that although I knew he would succeed in the end, I didn’t see him winning it all, only because I didn’t think it could be done at Michigan in this era. He proved everyone wrong.

Seems more masochism than sport.

There’s a real chance the…

There’s a real chance the Vikings or Giants could trade up to #4 to take him.

That evaluation is a bit…

That evaluation is a bit dated. The latest McCarthy will go is 12th, and especially after how well he threw today, he could make it into the top four overall. If he did, and QBs go 1-4, that leaves Marvin Harrison Jr. available for his old coach at #5.

College basketball used to…

College basketball used to be a great sport, and the tournament used to be maybe the best part of the sports year. One and done started it down the road to ruin. Transfermania has made it even worse. I have no interest.

McNamara found himself the 3rd base and thought he hit a triple.

He doesn’t have the talent to outweigh his terrible exit.

Yes, because coaches usually rip their players to the press.

Agree. This level of…

Agree. This level of excitement for a QB no one has seen throw a pass is mystifying.

At least he went out on a…

At least he went out on a high note.

You shouldn’t be “rolling…

You shouldn’t be “rolling the dice”with the #1 overall pick. If they didn’t like Fields, they could’ve drafted Stroud last year. They traded the pick instead. They blew that one and now they’re going to blow this one. It’s why they’re the Bears.

Drafting Williams #1 will be…

Drafting Williams #1 will be a huge mistake, which seems very Bears.

I see your point. More than…

I see your point. More than anything else,  if someone can even get behind the wheel at .24 or something in that range, it means they have a serious alcohol problem, but ultimately it comes down to a simple decision about whether getting arrested for DUI is a firing offense. A DUI at any BA level, especially in a time when rides are so easy to get, demonstrates poor judgement.

What details need to be…

What details need to be reviewed? It doesn’t sound like an accident was involved and no one was injured. He got arrested for DUI. Pretty basic. If you want to fire him for it, fire him. If you don’t, move on. Make a decision

Maybe his Crystal Ball was in the shop.

If the story was only that a…

If the story was only that a famous alum came back to coach the team and fell short with wins and losses, I might see some sadness about it not working out. But it was Howard’s off the court behavior, which embarrassed him (or should have) and the university, and forced a well thought of staff member out, which leaves me not sad in the least. This is a good day for the basketball program and Manuel’s opportunity to get it back moving in the right direction.

Howard earned this, so I don’t think it’s a sad day.

Jon Runyan got $30 million, with $17 million guaranteed, from the Giants. Not too shabby.

That’s actually a pretty…

That’s actually a pretty popular take. Whoever takes him at the top is going to be making a huge mistake.

Part of the case against him…

Part of the case against him is that because he didn’t throw the ball as often, he didn’t gain the same level of experience as others, which is obviously the case. If the buzz about him moving into the top 10 or even the top 5 proves to be correct, he might be thrown on to the field as the starter right away. If that happens and he’s not ready to go, things could get ugly. As the OP notes, he’s a polarizing player in draft discussions, and that’s entirely because of the offense he played in. I hope things go great for him, but how he does will be one of the most interesting stories of this year’s draft.

The McCarthy discussion…

The McCarthy discussion highlights a big reason why every other top QB prospect over the last few years, including from the state of Michigan, hasn’t seriously considered the school. Why would those considered the best coming out of high school (including receivers) choose a school where the passing game takes a backseat? McCarthy was an an aberration. As long as the offensive philosophy stays the same, don’t expect to see another QB with his talent. One can argue, “but they won a National Championship with that philosophy” …but they wouldn’t have without McCarthy and his talent.

Shitta the Hitta.

Shitta the Hitta. His brother Fucka is a 3 Star in the 2025 class.

Most of those who opted out…

Most of those who opted out will be doing the same drills during pro day at their schools. I think not doing anything at the combine is becoming a status thing.

“As has been reiterated SO…

“As has been reiterated SO many times, if "we" (you) had had your way in 2020, Jim Harbaugh would have been sent packing.” I wasn’t in favor of firing Harbaugh, but aside from Howard lacking Harbaugh’s track record, his problems have been just as much off the court as on. It isn’t only the team’s won-loss record. Even during his worst season, Harbaugh conducted himself like an adult and didn’t embarrass the university.

Howard also doesn’t have…

Howard also doesn’t have Harbaugh’s track record of success as a Head Coach.

The Chargers aren’t trading…

The Chargers aren’t trading Herbert and they aren’t drafting McCarthy. They also won’t be drafting any Michigan players for sentimental reasons. Like any other team, they’ll be looking for the most talented player available who they believe will function well in their system. Maybe a Michigan guy might get the nod if all else seems equal, and maybe Harbaugh might learn toward players he knows who go undrafted when it comes to signing free agents, but that’s it.  If they want to draft a RB and they think some other back will be better in the NFL than Corum, they’ll take the other back. Nothing weird about it.

McCarthy being seen as a top…

McCarthy being seen as a top 3 QB, or on that level, would be great for Harbaugh. I’m guessing the Chargers, sitting at #5 with many needs, would prefer to trade down a bit, and if the market for McCarthy heats up, it helps them get the most value.

Overall positive, I think…

Overall positive, I think. He missed a few, especially when throwing to his left. He had the second strongest arm in his group, behind only Milton.
