Grew up in North Carolina and I’ve always felt that I would rather play the college football season in Michigan vs NC or even worse, further south. I think the heat and humidity of late August through even early October are way worse than one or two colder games in November if you are playing.
Been to two postseason Michigan games 2018 Peach Bowl and the Rose Bowl. Obviously stakes and matchup make a big difference but the MB Arena was a pretty sterile environment. Give me outdoor stadiums almost all the time. But I’m an OG too.
Thanks for the great coverage. One unexpected surprise of my son going to Michigan is falling in love with college hockey. Really appreciate what you guys do to make it more fun!
Does make you wonder now that paying players is effectively legal…could any pro athlete that left before using their 4 years eligibility and is nearing the end of their pro career return and play at the college level?
I went to Tampa last year. In Tampa, what appeared to be the standing watch party bar for local alums was walking distance from the arena and hosted a big pre game party including an appearance by the MMB.
Nice job on the tix, we payed something like $800 for three seats. Enjoy, we had a great time despite the result, hopefully you’ll do better!!
I’ll be glued men’s and women’s. Michigan dad but an NC State alum (actually a Duke alum as well but not even an hint of allegiance confusion in the regional final). Was a freshman in 83 and we were always nationally competitive when I was a student but been so long since our men were relevant it’s almost a shock. Wish I was in Phoenix (sorry women, nobody wishes they were in Cleveland).
Expectations in check. Purdue and Carolina are very tough matchups but we are playing with the biggest pile of house money ever (WSJ article yesterday calculated that a $100 bet on the first game in the ACCT rolled over the nine straight wins would be at about $670k at this point). If we can’t do it would like to see Purdue win it all. Painter seems like a pretty good guy and Purdue’s fan base has suffered about as much as ours.
Does gymnastics use the old coliseum? My son and I walked in the building I think was the old coliseum and it appeared that way but maybe we weren’t where we thought we were?
I must admit that “Craig has some off-the-wall ideas (Cornell's HC, Eli Brooks)” had me googling Cornell basketball thinking “damn impressive, Eli is already a college head coach.”
To counter. Chance this weekend to win third straight BT tournament championship, coming off two straight frozen fours and playing best hockey of the year heading into the NCAAs.
Would certainly have had an improved shot last year in Tampa with better D and goaltending but can’t complain much about how they’ve peaked at the right time.
Will be interesting to see how Illinois plays out. They were down in the second half by double digits (or close) in each of the BTT games with win probabilities of 10-20% in each and seemed to be able to shift into a higher gear each game and confidently come back and win. Plus Shannon looked pretty impressive. Generally a good formula going into the NCAAs.
Alternatively, games were against OSU, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.

Congratulations and great photo! My older son graduated two years ago and it’s a great feeling although somewhat bittersweet.
Apparently you guys just don’t get Harbaugh. He doesn’t get stressed. He just finds work to do.

A 6 seed? Maybe a better question is who ends up with most wins in calendar 2024…football or basketball?
They definitely need to use Uber

Given the mounting losses the NCAA is accumulating, I would imagine this regulation would likely fall if challenged as well.

Probably not the cleanest sentence given the Howell pick
I was referring to Trubisky. Not drafted by Washington but was second overall pick.
Hope Washington picks Maye so they can blow a chunk of $$ on another overrated UNC QB.
GOALLL!!!
Sure looked like it
GOALLLLLLLLL!!!
Technically isn’t it “Fuck The Ohio”?
Wow

I’ll vote for it
