JJ going pro .
January 14th, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Would like to see the dolphins get him somehow. He can ride the bench for a year and be Tuas backup - which means he will get quality reps and probably be a starter once Tua gets his typical injury.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Thanks, JJ. Legend.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Good luck JJ and don't forget you still have a couple weeks to come back if the scouts are mean to you 😂
January 14th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
Fuck!!! But wish him nothing but the best. He will be missed greatly. Hope he gets to go to a great fit for him in the pros.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
C’mon Seahawks, he’s the man!!!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
What a wild couple of weeks it's been. Hard to believe the Rose Bowl was less than two weeks ago. I wish I was more cognizant of the "good old days" when they were occurring.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
The memories will last forever!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:39 PM ^
Thank you, JJ. You chose Michigan and arrived when we needed you most. Your leadership, resolve, and work ethic are the standard for UM quarterbacks going forward.
Best of luck at the next level, and trust that you'll have millions of Michigan fans supporting you along your journey.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:40 PM ^
Go ball out! I bet he is drafted higher than most people think!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
I do not blame any of the wishful thinkers that argued or thought otherwise, but he could not have telegraphed this decision much more plainly than he did last night.
He is an all timer at Mich and I am forever grateful. Would not shock me to see him taken ahead of either or both of Penix and Nix, especially Nix. Way more upside than either and he is better than both at reading defenses.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:37 PM ^
I agree that this decision should have been expected after what he said last night. And i don't think anyone should second-guess him. He believes this is the best decision for him. And I'll bet his coaches do, too.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
Was time to go. I would have been interested in seeing him in an offense whose primary focus was throwing the ball. Wasn't going to happen even if he returned anyways.
Incredible career, the drives he led after the team got punched in the mouth at critical junctures in the Ohio State and Alabama games this year will probably be my lasting memory of his career, but it was obviously filled with many more great moments. Harbaugh said it best, the greatest quarterback in the history of Michigan football.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
Time for an Orji…
January 14th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
A sound decision, good luck with anything he does in the future.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
Thanks for the memories
The beating of OSU
The beating of OSU
The beating of Alabama and Washington, too
We thank you so much
January 14th, 2024 at 1:43 PM ^
Can’t wait to watch him in a few years with my now-3-year-old son and explain how special JJ was for us.
Thanks for everything, kid.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:43 PM ^
Couldn't go out on a higher note. the GOAT
January 14th, 2024 at 1:44 PM ^
Good Luck, JJ
January 14th, 2024 at 1:45 PM ^
Well, it makes sense to go out on top.
He'd probably go higher in the draft next year, but maybe he'll be with a better team this way.
Either way he's gonna make a boatload of $$ in the pros. I think the bigger issue is his Michigan legacy. Going out undefeated, having lost only 1 game in his Michigan career - that's about as good as it gets.
Good luck JJ - I imagine you know it'll never be this much fun again. You'll always have a home (and legendary status) in Ann Arbor.
Thanks for everything, and may your future be bright!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:52 PM ^
You just never know. Wheatley came back, and then was taken a few picks lower that he had been projected after his junior year, and he had a really good senior year, though not as good as his junior year.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:47 PM ^
On one hand it is great to leave on top; On the other hand: Jets, Falcons, Saints, etc. Hopefully JJ falls to a great offensive team;
January 14th, 2024 at 1:47 PM ^
=(
Was hoping for a return but not surprised.
Thank you JJ
January 14th, 2024 at 4:03 PM ^
I'm very surprised. Imagine if he goes to a bad franchise. NFL could have waited but college is only once, and now there is NIL and could have bought a insurance policy.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:50 PM ^
He’ll end of being the best NFL QB from this draft.
Thanks, JJ
January 14th, 2024 at 1:50 PM ^
Really wish my lean for him coming back was accurate, but oh well. He did great at Michigan, and lead the team to a title along with Corum and Jenkins. Love his play and character.
Besides Hinton, has anyone else eligible for the draft decided to come back? I know Michigan is still waiting on Nugent, Paige and Moore's decisions.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:50 PM ^
Trente and Edwards as well
January 14th, 2024 at 1:51 PM ^
Congrats on a fantastic career and best wishes on the next chapter!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:52 PM ^
One of the if not the greatest Michigan QB of all time. 3 straight wins over Ohio State, 3 conference titles, and a national championship.
He's proven and accomplished everything.
Thank you for the fantastic years and memories and good luck in the NFL. Maybe he’ll end up being the next Tom Brady 😃
Go Blue!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:53 PM ^
Quite a few teams that could use him. The Jets, Raiders, Vikings, Steelers, Denver, Atlanta, Rams, New England, and Tampa Bay. All of them could end up drafting him. Rodgers would be ticked if the Jets did, but it’s certainly possible. The Vikings, Steelers, and Tampa all have QBs that will need replaced but JJ could sit for a year or two behind the guys they have. The Rams would be surprising but they could look for someone to sit behind Stafford. Denver to me would be surpring but possible. Definitely enough teams that need QBs that he’ll get drafted in the top 20.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
As a Jets fan, I would never wish this on JJ. I’d prefer he not be physically and emotionally ruined by the end of his first pro season.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:54 PM ^
Good for him. Go makes millions, JJ.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:54 PM ^
Our starting offense will have to be almost entirely replaced. That’s ominous.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:03 PM ^
Yeah it’ll almost definitely be a rebuilding year or two for sure. But after this season, I’m okay with that lol.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:06 PM ^
And that’s assuming Harbaugh stays. If he leaves, who knows what other players would leave.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:12 PM ^
I doubt very many as Moore will be the coach.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:11 PM ^
Eh. Morris, Morgan, Loveland, Mullings, and Marshall are a really nice foundation to start from.
Michigan’s recruited the OL extremely well and has bought themselves time for development over the past two years. Time to see what Crippen, Anderson, and El Hadi got.
If Moore is the HC I would really like to see them bring in an outside offensive coordinator. Brennan Marion of UNLV comes to mind. If they can’t land a good QB in the portal than they need a scheme that takes advantage of Orgi’s great athletic ability.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:05 PM ^
In a way though, this can be positive. It will give new leaders the chance to emerge. It probably gets Davis some snaps. Next year will probably be tougher, but it will pay off in 25 and 26.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:54 PM ^
Congratulations, now Go win a Super Bowl!!!!!!!
January 14th, 2024 at 1:55 PM ^
Thank you JJ for the last three seasons.
I believe he’ll be a first round pick, quite possibly in the top half of the first round. From 10-16 there are five teams that could very well be looking for a qb. Williams, Maye, and Daniels will all go in the top 9, but after that you have a logjam for the next qb taken off the board with JJ, Penix, and Nix.
JJ’s Alabama game, despite not having a high completion percentage, should show up well as it was against 2 likely first round CBs, a first round DE/LB, and several other future NFL players, and against a decidedly NFL defensive scheme. And without having a dominant WR to throw to. That was an excellent game for JJ who didn’t receive much help during the middle part of that game by several drops on his passes.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:58 PM ^
Not surprised and good luck.
I do have a real fear that we will look like Iowa next year.
January 14th, 2024 at 1:59 PM ^
I like how he uses the 3 deep breaths motif in his post.
Thank you JJ!
January 14th, 2024 at 2:01 PM ^
JJ is going to be the QB in this draft with the biggest potential variance. He could be a star with his arm and legs, better than the top rated guys, or maybe he never develops the touch needed to succeed. In a way, going later in the draft may set him up with a better surrounding cast and make him more successful. Best of luck to him and thank you, JJ, for leading Michigan over OSU and Alabama and to a National Championship.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:55 PM ^
Touch? Geez, what was he 72 percent completion rate? If he stays healthy,I think he is the surest bet in this QB class.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:01 PM ^
Me when {insert transfer name here} throws a pick in the third quarter vs Texas.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:03 PM ^
Sorry to see JJ go. Good luck to him ! Wishing him every continued success always.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:04 PM ^
Definitely sad, but good for him. He's an incredible player and an incredible person, and I hope he's going to be legendary at the next level, because he is certainly a legend here already, as is everybody who played this year and the last two.
With all of the players declaring for the draft these last couple days, this has the feeling of the end of Return of the King to me, with the Fellowship finally coming to an end, and Frodo sailing off on the last ship. (yes, please go ahead and make fun of my nerdiness, but then also remember that all of the preview podcasts for this season had hobbit-related titles). These players went and accomplished the biggest goal that was out there in front of them, though incredible adversity, and now they've come home and it's time for them to go their separate ways. What we've just witness this season- and really, over the last three seasons, since they clearly should be remembered as a whole- is amazing. Probably the greatest achievement in modern Michigan athletics, but to see this era come to a close (no matter what Harbaugh's decision is, with the playoff format changing and the Big10 becoming something totally different, this is absolutely the end of an era) is always going to be colored with some amount of sadness. Following this team will be a stretch of time in my Mighigan fandom that I will always cherish.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
The reason why this era is coming to an end is because Michigan is not in a position to reload like it use to be, it is a program that has to rebuild nowadays, and NIL is a huge part of it. Michigan has a lot of talent still, but unproven talent.
January 14th, 2024 at 2:05 PM ^
Forever in the QB pantheon - maybe the head of it. Harmon, Henne, Leach, Navarre, McCarthy. Has a nice ring to it 😉😉
January 14th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Ahem, Harbaugh?
January 14th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
People forget what a fabulous college QB Harbaugh was
