Tennessee's AD was sooo much more thorough.  He just said yea, we did it!  What a success story.  I just don't know how they do it, down there.  I wonder what the problem is.  Sometimes you just got to wonder.

I have represented some of them.  It is amazing that objectively intelligent individuals can get so bought into a debunked position and belief.  To the point that they have sacrificed their individual freedom and put their families in bad positions.

I am talking college educated men that in the face of hard facts still believe just crazy town conspiracies.  People who had normal jobs and lives and friends before the 2020 election.

It's actually kind of scary in my opinion.

An observation on human nature, and not a political statement.

College education has zero bearing on one’s intelligence, ability to think critically, honesty, or desperation to maintain or gain personal power. Both sides of the aisle and one side of SCOTUS are filled with Ivy League educated people who lack all the above except desperation for power.

Fair point, and I did not mean to imply that a college education was necessary or would prevent someone from falling into these rabbit holes.  It was merely a point of the specific person I had represented.

I think the thing that suprises me the most is the ability to risk so much and to gain nothing.  I have a hard time understanding how your mind allows you to go there.  I get being upset about something that you find unjust, that makes perfect sense to me.  But blindly believing something is unjust in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and to the point of your own personal detriment is where I struggle to find the motivation.

I instinctively do not consider politics or "both side" of the aisle arguments because I find politicians as a sub-set to be so self motivated by their desire for power and survival of their seat that the motivations of their actions are pretty shallow and transparent.

All that to say I intended no slight to anyone college educated or no.  I have been around long enough to know there are all types and levels of intelligence and it is certainly not exclusively anchored to higher education.

That's the best case scenario. Optics over ethics, hypocrisy over helping. At least during the Covid epidemic politicians on all sides decided to violate their own policies. Shows you how the right cause can unite politicians.

Social media propaganda that is digested as legitimate news is incredibly powerful. Humans are wired to give disproportionate attention to potentially threatening information and will often act to protect our interests before double checking the credibility of said information. Scary indeed.

I am sure there are some mental health providers on here that could expand on this thought (you may be one of them).  I have always been fascinated by people acting against their own interest, politically or otherwise.

Not self destructive behavior, I think I understand that for the most part, ex: substance abuse, ect.

When Jim said there were 4 coaches on his staff who were gonna be head coaches, I didn’t think he meant this year while he was suspended and they took turns coaching!

Seriously, this is 100% people trying to justify their soon to be (if not already) irrelevant jobs. Brian’s take here is getting better with age.

I've taken the opportunity to write Michigan's statement to the NCAA:

"We have notified the NCAA of minor infractions as a professional courtesy. We do not anticipate, nor do we accept, any further disciplinary actions in this case."

So we've got Will Wade still out there, Hugh Freeze is out there, TCU just hired a Briles, and we're suspending Harbaugh 4 games over cheeseburgers

Hard to say this is anything but a huge L for Warde and the AD. How do you let this happen? Stop cooperating with the NCAA

"In a notice of allegations sent to Michigan last year, the association cited four Level II violations, including meeting with two recruits during a COVID-19 dead period, texting a recruit outside of an allowable time period, having analysts perform on-field coaching duties during practice and having coaches watching players work out via Zoom."

Meanwhile... Coach Saban buying each member of the team a new car when they sign on.  But hey, that royale with cheese will get you 4 games. lol. It's almost hard to get mad about it because it's so fucking stupid.

Feels like Michigan is the only Tier 1 program they go after super hard....over hamburgers.

This is laughable

Go fuck yourself NCAA...if Harbaugh does get suspended at all, and Warde doesnt flip shit, no bueno

If he indeed gets a four game suspension, everyone and I mean every single person at the Big House should eat cheeseburgers during all those games.

If true, typical NCAA BS and another reason why this will likely be Harbaugh’s last season at Michigan. If he has another NFL opportunity at the end of the year, he’ll leave. The lure of the NFL challenge will be the biggest reason, but I bet the NCAA and NIL issues will be contributing factors.

Dear NCAA:

Attached is a Letter of Allegations received by the University of Michigan Athletic Department, regarding a potential suspension of Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh for the recent investigation of hamburgers.

We write this letter as our notification to your Enforcement Department that someone has apparently stolen NCAA letterhead and is using it to send out extremely fucking stupid letters.  You should make them stop doing that, treating it as the last act of your organization before its long-overdue extinction.

Thank you,

The University of Michigan.

Total BS.  If it is just game day susspensions probably not a huge deal, but the optics make the NCAA look pathetic.  If/when super conferences get here they just need to form their own league and let the NCAA deal with the non-revenue sports.

The proper response to this should be "The NCAA can kindly slurp my taco shits off my anus.  They need Michigan football more than we need them"

Is it any wonder Harbaugh wanted to go back to the NFL? SEC schools get away with essentially highway robbery and murder by comparison, and yet Harbaugh is going to get four games over fucking hamburgers.

At the end of the day, this is the NCAA trying to save face and make some sort of power play to create at least an illusion that they’re still in control, all the while running back from Texas with its tail tucked between its legs.

A&M essentially told the NCAA to go fuck itself a few weeks back when they said (I’m paraphrasing) that they would comply with state law over NCAA rules, and that Texas law now allows for I believe individuals to sue the NCAA if they are compelled by the NCAA to break state law. The NCAA has no ground to stand on in Texas, and they know with each passing day, more individuals and institutions are realizing that they do not need to give the NCAA a single ounce of respect. So they needed to make a move. A power play. On someone/somewhere that would let them.

The NCAA can only punish schools that let them. Michigan, unfortunately, is one of those schools. And claiming the moral high ground and saying you follow the rules, in this new Wild West era of college football, does nothing for you.

The gist of it: Harbaugh finally admitted he lied about remembering the meal, and he is being punished for the lie--not the cheeseburgers.

4 games is ridiculous based on what he allegedly now admits to have known. However, when it's a Level 2 infraction...why not just say, sorry, "My bad, I will do better and so will my staff"?

I hope they negotiate it down to 1-2 games so that they can finally move past the double cheeseburger debacle.

Michigan should not agree to this. The President should come out and simply say: we are ignoring this ridiculous attempt by the NCAA. Giving in only perpetuates the myth that the NCAA has purpose.

Wow, I was wondering what was going on with this since had went silent for most of this year but this is pretty severe and embarrassment for Harbaugh. Given the list of the other guys impacted and potential agreement to 4 games when 6 is on the table indicate they have some inside evidence or something to really nail these guys if they don't take the deal. What other coaches have had suspensions like this? Can't recall many especially across all sports that NCAA covers. Real big negative if Sherrone goes as well and suspensions also cover game weeks / prep. A lot is put in over those weeks to set up for entire season.
