I think negativity around QB relates a bit to our recent levels of success. It will be a step down no matter what, and thus people come across as a little less than optimistic. I think it's natural.
I am waiting for Brian to chime in on the NCAA stuff. Has he yet? Or really anyone on the staff. Did I miss some writing on the NCAA cheeseburger findings? (and perhaps any implications they might have for future signgate findings?)
I hate when someone says "X is overrated" or "Y is underrated". It presumes they know the actual "rating" of the person and thus can accurately assess the difference. Just say what you think of the person in absolute terms, or in comparison to something real (like an actual other person).
This defense and many of the offensive pieces are in WAY better a place. Bad comparison. You should go on the run again, and find that one-armed man, if he even exists.
"there's a potential argument to be made that all of this made this team even more focused, more determined, and contributed to them winning the title."
On the one hand, I admire OSU's program. They will spend spend spend to win.
On the other hand, the "all in" strategy is likely shortsighted. It will cause a "win or get fired" feeling to pervade the staff, which doesn't lead to the best environment for winning.
I am amazed there are still people who pop up here and are like "well the students get a free ride don't they?" wow.
I think that revenue sharing will happen. It's a matter of when, not if. ADs aren't leading the way because they know it will make their job much much harder.
Well, you might be right and you might be wrong. Eventually, someone who "runs things" might realize that sports leagues need competitive balance. And then work to figure out how to make it more balanced.
I mean, it's kind of happening today. Look at how MSU could roll out so much $$$ to hire a great coach away from his alma mater. This is a direct result of Michigan and OSU driving up the value of the big ten. If money helps programs become more equal - a thing that hiring good coaches might do - it actually might be just fine.
This is a terrible point. But, you make it clear yourself what is going on.
"Had to build a very expensive training center"
If the players were getting paid, money would be directed to them instead of all the glitter and glamour around them. Sure, the training centers might not be as nice; sure, the ADs and coaches salaries wouldn't be as high. But, the players would be sharing in the profits, and that would make sense.

I think it's gonna be Denegal. With some Orji mixed in. It will be fun to watch.
I think if you read NittanyFan's posts about signgate, your conclusion won't be "rational".
"there's a potential argument to be made that all of this made this team even more focused, more determined, and contributed to them winning the title."
I think this is true. It's ironic and delicious.
Hockey is pretty great to watch, and even better in person.
The real focus of the NCAA (yes those clowns) should be: how do we grow this sport, and get more schools to participate?
eh not really
What's funny is reading anything from OSUverse about this.
"man get ready, this is just phase 1!"
"f those cheaters!"
etc. etc.
so much delusion in Buckeye land
how fucking depressing
except for 11w
Let the Orji begin
I laughed because that Denver goalie wrecked BC

I think they're kind of fucked, tbh.
I like the OP's anger.

I still don't get your point. "Players, bow down and thank your TV overlords, for giving you these mighty opportunities?"

I'm amazed that people are still making stupid arguments like this. It is incredible, really.

but what's your point? (honestly)
that the players should thank the TV people for giving them the opportunity to make NIL?
Sounds like he was predicting JJ to the Bears?
this is hard to believe. Everything points to him.
He got off because the lawyers - wisely - made it about how racist LAPD was/is.
what about hall of famer rod carew?
brutal
Loved him in Naked Gun.
Didn't follow his career after...
Great write up.
We are the Team of Destiny (TM).
I've already placed my bets. Looking forward to cashing in.
Weirdly, I miss the days when ads were mostly served in newspapers. And newspapers, made of, you know, paper!
this kind of attitude really chocks my guff
