Kirk Herbstreit - he's losing it, writing Manifestos on Twitter ...

Yeesh Kirk - chill out.  The world's not going to end if folks disagree with your (Kirk's) take on the Alabama/FSU debate.  You (Kirk) aren't judge, jury and executioner on everything CFB related.

(click the link to see his FULL rant - it goes on much longer than this)

Yeah, the only thing you missed was his personal history lesson which only he can justify. I don't know whether Florida State is as good as the other teams in the CFP, but they qualified like all the other candidates and were left out for dubious reasons meant to rationalize exclusion. Not fair. Not right. Just the way it is.

If Herbie wants to go to war and die on this hill to secure his place in the college football world and satisfy those who run it. Well, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. When was the last time you weren't all in, maybe after getting chased out of Columbus by the other guardians of Buckeye greatness.

Yeah - he's nothing if not a company man. Invoking FSU/Miami is an odd choice because this is essentially the same argument that the BCS (I guess the "computer") made in 2000: they're just better because we say so. That was an all-time screw job because Miami had beaten FSU headto-head and it made absolutely no sense to choose them over Miami. But back then the Noles were the darlings of the college football media and got the nod just because. It seems very similar to the situation now: FSU is unbeaten while Alabama has a home loss and several close calls; by that simplest of metrics, FSU should be in.  If I were trying to defend this controversial choice I wouldn't use like the all-time worst example to compare it to (also - it was only 2 teams back then!). Also: that guy brought up some good points: why did Herb move Alabama ahead of FSU before Travis even got hurt?

Has always been a dumb argument. Washington isn't one of the best 4 teams either. Georgia and Ohio pre portal would both be favorites over them on a neutral field. Heck I'd take LSU and maybe PSU too.

The Pac made Bo Nix and Penix Heisman candidates. Everything about Pac teams is inflated by playing each other. Washington is going to get blown out by Texas. One internet guys meaningless opinion. I think UW would struggle to move the football vs Penn St. LSU could name the score. UGA and Ohio would win going away. Then we get to teams like Mississippi etc. Not confident UW beats them.

Have you watched LSU's defense? It's awful. I mean I knew it was terrible then I watched them play Bama the other night and they were even worse that I anticipated. They don't tackle.

Washington would score 50, easy.

Texas pass D is not good if Penix gets time I would not be shocked if Washington won.

Underrated comment.

Herbie is just part of the shell game. His epistemology is trash. "Best" and "Most Deserving" are equally fuzzy concepts that are red herrings for the real solution: structure that creates firm definition.

NFL division leaders don't make the playoffs because they're the best or most deserving compared to the entire field of NFL teams. They go because they won the games that resulted in winning the division, and division winners go. Nice, clean, objective. This is the way.

The fuzziness of the CFP is a deliberate gateway for corruption, bet. If there aren't bags of cash moving around to influence committee members' decisions, I'll eat my hat.

Because Alabama is BETTER!!

Period! So is Texas. So is Michigan. So is Washington. So is Oregon. So is Georgia. I watch 10-15 games a week live from September-early December. I think I’m allowed to have an opinion on who I think is BETTER!! If FSU doesn’t like itbis “The BEST 4” tell the conference commissioners to change the protocol to “MOST DESERVING.” Until then I and everyone else is certainly is allowed to give an opinion in a subjective discussion!! Don’t like it-change it.

Its funny when FSU went ahead of The U in 2000 after Dorsey and the boys beat the Noles and FSU went instead of a deserving Canes team to the BCS Championship where they lost to Oklahoma I didn’t hear from all of you about the system being rigged and it’s not fair. You were big fans of the turnout back then-of course most of you, in this despicable lunatic fringe, probably didn’t even know about 2000 when the Noles got the benefit over a GREAT Miami team!

Listen man I have always loved FSU going back to the 80’s. Bobby Bowden-the uni’s-the swag-the consistency-something about that brand I was always attracted to and what happened with 5-6 teams having a shot at the playoff and the Noles being undefeated and left out-SUCKS-but I have to give an opinion on who I think the best 4 teams are. I’m not on the committee-I don’t vote-I watch games-I analyze teams and I give my take. That’s it. And if you think I have an agenda or a motive I’m sorry you feel that way but it’s wrong. I love this sport and care about it deeply and can’t make everyone happy-I ask questions of the commissioners in the offseason to understand things clearly-Watch games and give my opinion. If it’s for your team you love me and if it’s against you hate me. I wish it were different and hopefully next year with 12 teams it will be. I am a huge fan of Coach Norvell’s and his team and wish the Noles nothing but the best.
