President Santa Ono with strong words supporting Jim. Extension Coming?
President Ono offered strong words supporting Jim. I do not think we take his words lightly. This means two things, IMHO. First, the NCAA investigation will not uncover anything new. Second, Jim is more than likely to stay.
Also, I do not think Jim wants to give his enemies across BIG the satisfaction that they were able to drive him away from UM. My bet is on him staying.

Jim’s a weird guy. Out of anyone, he’d be the one to stay, in part for spite!

Don't get mad. Get even. And do it by winning. Over and over again for the rest of your life.

Harbaughs don’t forget
November 29th, 2023 at 6:43 PM ^
And get even.
November 29th, 2023 at 9:10 PM ^
And win...for the rest of their lives.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:35 PM ^
Harbaugh has built a juggernaut. Michigan/Ono has showed him mad love which is important to him.
IMO he's not going anywhere as long as Ono is here.

I don't understand. I use the embed button. I try an embed code in the source. Nothing works.

This website is a lot of work.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:47 PM ^
By hiring a PI firm and trying to trash Harbaugh and the program I think they virtually guaranteed Harbaugh will stay to jam it up their ass.

President Ono to Harbaugh: "a man of honor"
No better compliment given the circumstance.
Further:
“I just want to say very, very clearly — and it’s no secret to people — I trust the guy,” Ono said. “I think he is one of the great coaches out there, in both the NFL and NCAA, and the football team loves him. His coaches love him. I think the greatest sign of a great coach is that the team wins whether or not he’s on the sideline.”

"Don't get bitter... get better." ---Jim Harbaugh
November 29th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
Just heard JJ say that exact phrase on his interview with the big ten network for winning big ten QB of the year. He was talking about struggles he had during his Senior year during Covid.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:08 PM ^
Sounds like good news
November 29th, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
Not to me. They buried the lede:
”But having Harbaugh back next year?
‘I hope so,’ Ono said. ‘We have to wait and see what happens with all these investigations.’”
That sounds pretty much like a guarantee no extension is coming anytime soon
November 29th, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
Yes, I saw that too and was very disappointed to hear that. Why do we have to wait for the investigations to play out? That could take months to years! If there's a clause in the contract that says that he can be fired for cause if the NCAA finds that he committed wrongdoing, then why wait??
November 29th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
Is this a real question? It would be irresponsible not to wait
November 29th, 2023 at 10:12 PM ^
The question is how long do you wait? As was said, investigations can take a long time. How long would Jim be able to wait before looking somewhere else?
November 29th, 2023 at 7:41 PM ^
Harbuary here we come.
Let's get through these next three games.
November 30th, 2023 at 9:53 AM ^
If we wait then we're screwed, if you're Jim how do you wait until you've lost your chance to take a job where you know you won't be facing additional suspensions AND without the new contract. Great message but the last line was a killer to me.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:09 PM ^
Dear Santa,
All I want for Christmas is a brand new lifetime contract.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:52 PM ^
Well he has just under a month to deliver it under the tree
Fingers crossed..did you write it on your Christmas list?

Friday news drop would be pretty incredible followed by hoisting another trophy the next day.
November 29th, 2023 at 10:12 PM ^
Fuck it, announce it from the podium while accepting the trophy
November 29th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
Jim believes he has a team that can win it all. If they do, he will be more open to the NFL. No one forcing him, he’s reached the top.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
He's so beloved here, he'll never find that anywhere else. Definitely not in the NFL.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:40 PM ^
Exactly. When I see any coach leave a situation where they'll likely put his name on a facility after he retires, instead choosing something bright and shiny, I often think they'll regret it
November 29th, 2023 at 6:56 PM ^
Like Jonathan Smith leaving Oregon State? Man, I hope so....

Right, we would all love to see that man back at Michigan. He was so close to so many NC without any blue chips. What he could have done with NIL might have pushed it over the top.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:49 PM ^
The nfl would love him for about 3-5 yrs. He would never want for a thing while raising his family and living his best life here. He’s as loyal as people show him. Sure haven’t seen Warde making these statements.
November 29th, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
He did make that statement. He said "Jim Harbaugh is our football coach" in that strong statement he made several weeks ago. He may not be as eloquent as Ono, or as comfortable making statements in general. That may just be who he is, essentially saying the same thing.
November 29th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
To be fair, most people probably said this same thing in 2016 and then wanted him fired 4 years later. There's no such thing as infinite fanbase loyalty.
November 29th, 2023 at 10:08 PM ^
Just three years ago half the fan base wanted him fired. He’s beloved because he’s done a lot of winning. If they were to take a step back, he suddenly won’t be quite so beloved.
November 30th, 2023 at 12:33 AM ^
Half the fan base is an exaggeration. A few loud voices maybe? If I had to put it on a percentage that truly wanted Jim gone, 20%?
I recall collective acceptance when Warde came up with the incentive-laden contract and kept Jim.

Except that Jim is a good NFL coach
November 29th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
From your keyboard to Jim's ears, Comrade.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:13 PM ^
Keeping my fingers crossed that Santa will be able to get this done
November 29th, 2023 at 6:15 PM ^
I wish Santa Ono could be both President and AD.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:41 PM ^
In practice, I think he is both.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:15 PM ^
I love Harbaugh, want him to stay. But Moore looked damn impressive also. We are in a win-win. If he chooses to go to the NFL, we are in very good shape.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:18 PM ^
I read somewhere that while Moore has shown to be a top-notch coach, he is unlikely to get an offer. The reason: When/if Jim leaves, he will be on the first flight back to Ann Arbor. Teams cannot count on him to be around for several years.
November 29th, 2023 at 6:48 PM ^
That's insane. The guy beat two top 10 teams in crazy circumstances. He will have schools reaching out to him and them wanting him to be their new coach.
November 29th, 2023 at 10:11 PM ^
He didn’t “beat” two top 10 teams. He managed game day decisions pretty well for a team that was built and coached by Harbaugh, as the players won those games. No one here has any idea how Moore will do as a Head Coach.
