Warde needs to get this done.  With the current mess in MBB, if he loses Harbaugh then he needs to update his resume.  And quickly!

All those dudes coming in... aren't they worried about player safety?

Hey Penn State.  You don't…

Hey Penn State.  You don't need to steal the sign.  Michigan is going to run it down your throat. Try and stop it.

I can't imagine anything…

I can't imagine anything that PSU can do to piss off Michigan more than this.  I look forward to some violent hitting tomorrow.

Now it is 'alleged' illegal…

Now it is 'alleged' illegal signal stealing.  A bit different than his previous stance of guilty until proven innocent.

It wasn't lack of B1G…

It wasn't lack of B1G loyalty that OSU cared about.  They were worried about maybe having to play Michigan again and getting their asses kicked for the second time in a season.

How is this different for…

How is this different for Purdue?  Don't all teams make a plan with the thought in mind that the other team is trying to steal signals.  They must change every game.  This is why the whole thing is kind of stupid.  Teams always have to have a new plan every week thinking the other team might be on to them.

This is true.  However, I…

This is true.  However, I think I remember from 20 years ago that he never did attend class.  Probably why he needed to go to the NFL since he would be ineligible after fall semester.

Maybe if he had actually…

Maybe if he had actually gone to a class while in college, he wouldn't be so ignorant.

By not letting us steal…

By not letting us steal signs, they were able to keep the game a lot closer than it otherwise would have been.

It is great to see him do…

It is great to see him do well.  Never had a bad thing to say about Michigan but had to go someplace where he could play.

Yes, everyone sucks here.

Yes, everyone sucks here.

Now Mel's career as a football coach is over and Tracy's career as a victim advocate is over.

At this point, they both want to get whatever money they can from MSU.

MSU wishes it would all go away.

MSU might come up with the…

MSU might come up with the money and he certainly would be the best coach that they could possibly hire.  However, can MSU really afford to hire a guy who is on video with some young woman planting her ass in his lap at a bar?

Wait.  You're saying that…

Wait.  You're saying that the coaches know more about who should be playing than those of us on Mgoblog?  How is that possible?

Sounds like he was blindsided

Regardless of what one…

Regardless of what one thinks of Warde, if he was insistent that MSU be a protective rivalry I would say that he was doing his job.

Wait, you mean the 'U' is buying players?  Shocking!

The TV networks want bigger…

The TV networks want bigger games so M and OSU have to play a more difficult schedule year in and year out to accommodate.  TV makes more money.  They are selling M and OSU to make more money.  Money, Money, Money.  The reasonable thing to me is M and OSU should get a larger share of the money.

Never a doubt!

I don't know if 2 would have won it this year but having 2 would have gotten us to the final.

Michigan has to decide if…

Michigan has to decide if they are all in with Harbaugh and winning football.

OSU, Alabama, Georgia are all in.

A big difference that the 12…

A big difference that the 12 team format will make is in recruiting.  For years, OSU/Alabama/Clemson and now Georgia have been able to pitch "come play for us and you will likely be in the playoffs for a National Championship.  Go to Michigan/one of those other schools and you won't".  This applies to HS and now portal recruiting.

With the 12 team format, teams that can be around the top ten can also pitch their expectation to be in the playoffs every year with some validity. This should level the recruiting.  Why else would Nick Saban prefer the 4 team format?

While player development is important, Will Johnson is a recent example that 5 star recruits can make a big difference.

The Game 1969

My freshman year and Bo's first year.

Ohio State came in undefeated and a lock to win.  SI said that several pro teams would have trouble with the Buckeyes.

Michigan won 24-12

"This is an excellent reminder that adult athletes should have the independent ability to make decisions that they feel are in their best interest, rather than being compelled to do what a team or organization feels is best for them."

A good point here.  However, the university has already established that they can force any student to do something that the student feels is not in their best interest.

I have watched several games that are broadcast on FOX in 4K.  I have a 4K TV and a 4K Apple TV box.  I stream it through the FOX Sports app signed in to TV provider.  Be sure and select the 4K broadcast of the game.  I think if you are just watching the pre-game and it rolls over to the game, it might not be in 4K.

It is a noticeable difference.  The bigger the TV, the better it is to watch in 4K.

On to next week!

I remember being at the 1981…

I remember being at the 1981 game with my dad.  I was a bit worried down 21-0.

The story at the time was that Illinois wanted Moeller to cheat to get better players.  He refused and got canned.  This really pissed off Bo.  Mike White didn't have a problem with the cheating.  Obviously.

I watched much of the OSU-MSU game and from hearing the commentary, I am pretty sure that the top 10 vote getters in the Heisman voting this year will be from Ohio State.

I met Fran in Atlanta after his playing days. I think it was in 1992.  He was working for a software company called Knowledgeware at the time.  His job seemed to be signing footballs for prospective customers.  Only thing in his skill set that the company could use.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mickey several years ago.  He was known as a pitcher with outstanding control for a left handed pitcher.  He said that this might have something to do with the fact that he is actually right handed.

A great article but mostly it is great to read that Denard is doing so well.  He was a joy to watch!

Yes, we may be the better…

Yes, we may be the better team on a player by player basis.  Yes, many breaks went the other way.

However, there are 2 reasons we lost IMO.

1.  Inability to consistently throw the long ball.

2.  Inability to consistently score touchdowns in the red zone.

These problems have been there all year.  They will hurt us against better opponents.

The current system saves the…

The current system saves the Elite teams money.  They don't have to pay the players as much to attract them to OSU, Alabama, Clemson.

1969:  I was a freshman and…

1969:  I was a freshman and will never forget the 24-12 beatdown of the 'unbeatable' Buckeyes.  SI article before the game said that they were so good that they would be able to beat half of the NFL teams.  Bo had the team ready after practicing every day all season for this game.  The players needed to walk by a sign in the locker room that said simply '50-14'.  After that 1968 game, Woody was asked why after scoring to go ahead 48-14 did he go for 2.  He replied "Because I couldn't go for 3".

No game will ever top that memory for me.

To just think that we don't…

To just think that we don't do a good enough job recruiting or that a coaching change might remedy whatever we are missing, is denying what is happening in college football recruiting right now.  There are a small number of elite teams.  OSU, Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma..  These are teams that can tell a recruit that they will be in the college football playoffs for multiple years.  With this advantage, they are able to recruit multiple 5* and high 4* every year.  Load a team with 3 or 4 consecutive years of recruiting at this level and it is a fluke if anyone not in the group beats them.

Another team could sneak in but it won't be a common occurrence.  M is one of several teams in the next group (ignoring this year for now) who do a pretty good job recruiting but not good enough to get close to the elites.  Maybe Urban Meyer could get a team into the elites after a few years but that is no guarantee.

Until the playoffs are changed to include more than 4 teams, this is the way it is going to be.
