After watching Barnhart on 1st 2 drives this was right cal if you weren't going to replace him.

What is going on b in practice? Trente Jones and Hinton are both better athletes. At least need to get in the way of pass rusher and don't give them a direct path to McCarthy.

We could have put the game away earlier if we used play action passes, especially after we broke a couple of those bigger runs.

Pretty stupid getting JJ hurt on a 2nd and 17 run. That took the JJ possible run off the table and made it a slugfest.

So someone takes his helmet off (Barrett or Colson) after it looked like we got the game ending pick and they give us a 15-yard penalty. What is the point of that penalty rule? Taunting?

I'm worried about our tackles in pass protection. No championship with that deficiency!

You just weren't allowed to take a helmet off on the field, just the way it is, yes probably to prevent taunting and fights without protection, many reasons.

QB designed runs could have been put away completely in the 2nd half and just been an option if the play broke down...like a bootleg/play action to the TE.

Anyway, I'm so happy to just relax. Big win.

But how can there be any tape? Isn't that advanced scouiting? Isn't that against the rules? Won't that result in a three-game suspension and an "oh, the shame of it!" letter from a TV executive ... sorry, I mean, from the B1G commissioner?

(And while I don't think the /s is necessary, you never know.)

In proving irreparable harm this Friday, the play calling of the 2nd half should be Exhibit A. Technically not a single pass.

I don’t mind power running. In fact, I like it. What I don’t like is we aren’t getting the consistent 3-6 yards between the tackles like we used to with Corum, and Edward’s seems to go down really easily. I’ll be counterintuitive and say we really need a more consistent running game vs OSU.

I understand the reasoning of all the running plays: it negates PSU's pash rush, it shortens the game, it chews up the clock, style points don't matter, and so forth. I agree with all that.

What I couldn't figure out is why they didn't use that jumbo package that they used a couple of times in the first half. Skill players replaced by three 300-pound linemen, drooling over the chance to drive the speedy linebackers into the turf. It would be basically telling PSU "OK, you little mothers. You think you can stop our run game? Then stop this."

Not every down, of course, but if you're going to run the ball 30 times straight anyway, you'd think they have used it at least a couple of times. But unless I missed it, they didn't use it once in the second half.

I heard 2 “fuckin”s and a “shit” in the Sherrone interview. I love the passion from Sherrone. He will be a great head coach within the next few years. He loves this team and that love is reciprocated.

This post (amongst others) will affect the stats that LSA will post next week about the state of open threads. Lots of swear words, but a lot of them were expressed in a positive way

No.  Obscene insults  hurled at opponents is unsportsmanlike.  Obscene compliments to one's own team is considered a bit gauche if done in public, but it is not unsportsmanlike.  If it was, every football player in the history of ever would have been suspended for life.

That's not to say Tipetti won't flex his tyrant muscle and try to take someone down for obscene compliments, but that's not happened in the past, AFAICT.
