You’re absolutely on the money! It’s beyond belief that those four groups are not in. Combined, over 50 top 40 hits and they left an indelible musical imprint.
Drivers who continue to turn left coming toward you after their arrow has turned red for 3 to 4 seconds because they know you’re stopped and they’re in motion - total inconsideration.
I’m in the West suburbs of Cleveland and just a few miles from the exact centerline of the total eclipse. Coupled with the Women’s NCAA Championship and the Guardians’ home opener on Monday - crazy times are ahead. All schools and municipal buildings will be closed on Monday and traffic will be absolutely crazy. Most, if not all, motels and hotels have been booked a year in advance here in Cleveland.
The 1972 and 1973 Ohio State games - one of my best friends played for Michigan and I was there for both. Very tough loss and tie, even more so in ‘73 with the subsequent Rose Bowl vote.
Jerry Ball: First team All-State in high school in Texas at 6'0" 235 lbs. then played at 330 lbs. while making three Pro Bowls at nose tackle for the Lions. Just a great athlete and great football player.
Billy Sims - a great back who is 8th ALL TIME in rushing yards per game (85.1). Barry Sanders is 2nd (99.8) and Jim Brown is 1st (and the only back over 100/ypg at 104.3).
Have to include the two back-up singers on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" - Lem Barney and Mel Farr - particularly on the intro. Also, they were instrumental in getting him a tryout with the Detroit Lions which was held at Michigan.
My friends and I often comment as to countless scenarios related to being captured on cell phones, had they existed when we were in college, that the over/under of people that would own us would be about 60.
"He's the best running back I have seen," said Elder coach Doug Ramsey, who completed his 27th season as head coach.
"We played (former Ohio State running back) Maurice Clarett twice, (current Ohio State running back) Miyan Williams four times and a few out of state players who were big time and nobody was better. He's not only a great runner but also a receiver and he runs so hard. It's impossible for one guy to bring him down. He's a special player."
In addition to this this year’s game I've been extremely fortunate to have attended several other classic Michigan - OSU football games including 1972, 1973, and 2006. This year’s game was by far the best as I attended with my two sons. To the 2023 Wolverines - Thank you for creating a most special and unforgettable season and the one game that I’ll always cherish as the best. Beyond words being there with my sons as we witnessed your incredible team orientation, your football excellence, and your unquestioned toughness.
Augmented by the sensationalized media build-up language: “Special ongoing team coverage of the impending major storm. Make sure that you and your family are fully prepared by watching us on channel ____________.”
As a precursor of what was to come, In his final college season Barry Sanders rushed for 2,628 yards on 344 carries (238.9 yards per game), averaged 7.6 yards per carry, and scored 37 touchdowns. Very few athletes, individually, are worth the price of admission. Barry Sanders was most assuredly one of them.
After watching college and pro football and NOT seeing OPI or DPI being called on numerous plays I have given up trying to figure out what PI really is about four years ago.
Or, a new combo: many years ago we had water balloon accuracy contests based on using surgical tubing and a sand pail for the launching mechanism. Distance was easily 80-100 yards. There may have been some alcohol involved.
I met Coach Moeller back in 1983 while coaching in the Cleveland area and he visited our school several times while recruiting over the next several years. He was a man that loved football and a man that others football coaches loved to be around.
Thank you Coach for all that you did for our sport and for Michigan.

GO BLUE!
In keeping…
Thank you Blue,
In keeping with your reference to how the game has changed and our ages:
Don Warner was a walk-on who started every game in 1973 as a nose guard at 5’10” and 195 pounds. Very tough, quick, and unblockable.
Dave Gallagher, Curtis Greer, and Chris Hutchinson would like a word as well.
Way back when the Big Ten had 10 teams and an 11-game schedule there would be 8 conference games and 3 other home games to maximize revenue.

Another perspective worth noting:
All-time rushing leaders/game:
1. Jim Brown - 104.3
2. Barry Sanders - 99.8
3. Terrell Davis - 97.5
4. Eric Dickerson - 90.8
8. Billy Sims - 85.1
Billy Sims was a MAN!
…
Along with Calvin Johnson.
To never get to the Super Bowl for either - a shame.
