If true, this bodes well for M. JH wouldn’t be leaving without an NFL job in hand. And there wouldn’t be an NFL job already lined up without numerous rumors about said job!

JJ - obviously a different story.

To the contrary, JJ basically has an NFL job locked up too, we just don't know which of the 32 teams it will be with.

It's not impossible to think that Jim would take the Commanders/Redskins/Redhogs job and its #2 draft pick, and bring Minter and JJ with him. (I would have said same about Patriots, until about 8 am this morning.) That might overvalue JJ in the draft; maybe they trade out of it, to like Atlanta, and take JJ at 8.

Of course I am not wishing it to happen, just idle speculation.

I think for JJ its more about where he is going to be drafted. If there is risk of him dropping past mid-second round, it is much more likely he comes back. If he is a likely first round pick, I'd advise him to leave.

With that said, he needs someone to throw to next year to improve his draft stock - so that needs to be addressed ASAP.

With the QB classes for this year and for next, it makes sense for JJ to come back.  He could be at or near the top of the list for the 2025 draft.  Also, if you look at Bo Nix, or Penix, or other very experienced QB's, that additional year of college has been a huge year in their development.  I thought Bo Nix was outstanding this year (year 6) and really shitty when he was at Auburn.

I'm not putting much stock in this, but its fun to imagine the absolute uproar and gleeful chaos that would ensue at the parade tomorrow if both Jim and JJ announce simultaneously that they're coming back.

Unless Jim‘s agent’s about to sign a deal, how do you tell the team you’re not coming back? Especially If you don’t have the next job unless you’re gonna go home, leave coaching and raise chickens?

We will have SOME answers very soon ... I believe the draft deadline is the 15th? (And FWIW, I think the 18th for the portal? )

Obv. those have nothing to do with Jim, but we'll know about JJ within the next couple days.

As much as I'd love Harbaugh to announce at Crisler tomorrow that he's coming back, we all know that isn't happening.

There are still 10 days remaining until NFL teams can formally meet with potential coaching candidates.

You'd be a darn fool to believe that Harbaugh would ink a new deal before at least testing the NFL waters, again.

Maybe I'm wrong. Hope I am wrong!

But I aint holding my breath.

I don't think Harbaugh knows himself yet. If he does he's hurting his own recruiting by not saying. I'd guess he's kicking the tires on some NFL jobs now and then will decide. JJ is way more up in the air, I think if he knew he was going he'd say it (since it'd be important for the portal), but if he's not sure yet it could drag out. Would be great if he does know and he says it at the celebration tomorrow night though!

We all know that Jim would love to win the Super Bowl. But he will never get the same level of admiration and embrace of a community that understands him as he will in A2, imho.

Jim hasn't been hired by an NFL team so how could he have possibly told Will that he was leaving?  If he was still open to it, he'd have left it up in the air.  He apparently told Will (the team?) an answer so that answer could only be that he's coming back.

JJ, no idea.  I would have assumed if he was leaving, and knew that, he'd have publicly declared that already.

All in all, I think JJ is waiting for Jim to announce it publicly that he is coming back, then JJ will announce it as well.  That way there's no last minute change with Coach's decision because some NFL team jumps in there at the last minute. That way it doesn't back him into a corner if Jim changes his mind.

Schedule tough next year, but defense should be just as nasty and offense can be as good with JJ back and if O-line develops like the last 3 years.

Mullings is Haskins 2.0

If JJ and Edwards come back, I think we should make the playoff - albeit almost certainly not undefeated, we would be a tough out in a 12 team playoff.

What an amazing time to be a UM fan.
