Not a lawyer but I have…

Not a lawyer but I have watched Sportscenter so my advice should be solid. It seems like there's a simple solution:

Write a check for what you think is fair. Write "final payment" or something similar in the memo field. If she cashes it -- she's not going to bother you anymore.

Simple.

I think the scheme is great…

I think the scheme is great but it's getting too much credit based on:

1. Don Brown's scheme was horrible, especially against OSU. Michigan could have beaten OSU sooner had they just employed a more conservative and sound Iowa type defense.

2. We've had great D lines the last few years. Lots of schemes look great when you can get pressure with 4. Would have loved to have seen Rashan Gary on one of these teams.

3. Overall defensive talent is historic. The number of NFL players on this year's defense is probably unmatched.

JJ McCarthy reaches the…

JJ McCarthy reaches the stage, the frenzied crowd settles down as he leans towards the microphone...

"Coach goes, I go...Coach stays, I stay!"

Just chimin in bacause I…

Just chimin in bacause I cant believ how delusionale most of you are! The Emmy clowns wont do a dam thing to those cheeters! Downvote all you want too, butt Mark my words, they will got away with it.

After scoring a touchdown…

After scoring a touchdown first like Michigan did, maybe the best move would be to get a purposeful 15 yard penalty prior to the first play. Giving them 1st and goal from right at the 10. This would give them only 1 series to score.

Or maybe not.

Back into hiding.

Michigan Offense: 9

Michigan Defense: 7

LSU Defense: 0

Patricia is out at the end…

Patricia is out at the end of the season. Harbaugh doesn't want to move and the Lions are stupid so they offer him the job. Gattis steps in. I think he just might be able to succeed. If he can't who cares at this point?

There are more guys out…

There are more guys out there than people realize. Tony Annesse at Ferris State could coach circles around Harbaugh. Face it -- to be great you have to be dirty, super passionate, or a football savant. Harbaugh is none of those things. Time to move on.

It's too bad Tyler Ecker…

It's too bad Tyler Ecker never played any rugby.

I'll throw in the towel once…

I'll throw in the towel once we play a game that includes good discipline and good scheme. Until then what's the point?

If Michigan truly is handcuffed by only being able to recruit good student-athletes, then surely these superior students should be able to play mistake free football (or nearly).

I grow tired of all the…

I grow tired of all the complaining about cheating when it comes to recruiting. It's really bad when your own recruiting coordinator hints at it. Here's the deal -- either shut up about it or use the very powerful resources at your disposal to shine some light on it. The fact that NOBODY is willing to investigate this tells me all I need to know about all the "cheating" when it comes to recruiting. I get that the NCAA doesn't care, but there's zero reason a hundred out of the 3 million U of M attorneys couldn't investigate it. Oh wait, I can think of one reason and you can all use your imagination to figure that out.

Here's where we are: we have a good coach. Good coaches just don't have the same attention to detail that the great ones do. It's that simple. This team will be stuck here until we can do something to excite the recruits and increase the attention to detail.  Maybe just maybe Josh Gattis as the head coach in a couple years would do it.

Indiana is to Michigan what Michigan is to OSU.

I can just see Harbaugh is…

I can just see Harbaugh in the locker room after the game:

"They can have the hardware but we get the VICTORY!!!"

Please make it happen.

Not sure how many points but…

Not sure how many points but "getting up" for games week and week takes a toll. Or at least most athletes think it does. For OSU it's BAU all year long until their season culminates against Michigan. Seems like an advantage in my book.

They've had the luxury of…

They've had the luxury of viewing The Game this way, while Michigan has been busy trying to put Sparty back in their place. OSU has had the significant psychological advantage of only having one rivalry game a year. Michigan has had 2.5.

It's over with Sparty now, so going forward I think the team will be mentally sharper at the end of the season.

If Annesse could clear the…

If Annesse could clear the vetting process (big if but it's MSU) he would be a perfect fit for MSU. Guy is getting up there though and his window for getting his first D1 gig is closing.

It shouldn't be too hard for…

It shouldn't be too hard for Payton Ramsey to pump Penix back up.

They really should paint a crime scene body layout right there.

Exactly. Why build your…

Exactly. Why build your schedule around something they may never happen?

Play the games.

Most of you aren't being…

Most of you aren't being rational.

Best case scenario, how often do you think Michigan could make the playoff? I'd be happy with once every 5 years. Even at twice every five years, you're giving up the potential to experience a game like ND the other night for a better chance at making the playoff. It's really not worth it. All of these games are only as important as you make them. Watching Michigan destroy ND with my son by my side is a memory I'll cherish for the rest of my life. That game mattered to us.

So some of you really want to get rid of these potentially memorable games and play Saginaw Valley State? No thanks.

Play the games.

Jake you forgot:

Jake you forgot:

Win or lose Go Blue. I'll hang up and listen. Win or lose Go Blue.

Just in time for all…

Just in time for all Michigan fans to celebrate as Jay takes over the program in hopes of keeping the 7 plus wins a season streak going at 5.

You may have a point but OSU…

You may have a point but OSU's greatest scheduling advantage is that they don't have to play OSU.

Harbaugh talks about…

Harbaugh talks about excellence but doesn't demand it.

Harbaugh talks about paying attention to detail but his teams never show it.

Harbaugh talks about steeling one's spine but his teams consistently lack one.

Harbaugh's constant rosey outlook during the course of mediocre season after season is the problem with this program. The time for building up the players through relentless positivity has come and gone.

Don Brown has schematic…

Don Brown has schematic failures every single big game! It's really hard to explain because he otherwise seems like a great coach. Like many on here, I've watched a lot of football and sometimes the other team is clearly better or just makes more plays that game. That's not what happens to Don Brown's defenses. His players are ROUTINELY in position to fail. Every single big game. If you don't see that as a failing of his you're not watching the games close enough.

My analytics question is: if…

My analytics question is: if you're on defense and facing a 2nd and 1 or 2 (short yardage) why not just take an offsides penalty and give them a first down? This seems pretty straightforward to me with the only caveat being when you're trying to keep them out of field goal range.

There is no old Harbaugh.

There is no old Harbaugh.

There is no new Harbaugh.

There is just Harbaugh.

Harbaugh is a decent guy and a decent coach and that's that.

That's a horrible take when…

That's a horrible take when you consider the fact that they cleaned house on the defensive side of the ball after last season because their defense killed them last year.

We don't defend Harbaugh but…

We don't defend Harbaugh but we recognize he's just an okay coach who's not going anywhere. He also does not make up for our coordinator's shortcomings like truly elite coaches do. So we must have excellent coordinators. Don Brown is a better coach than Harbaugh but we still need a better coach than Brown. Brown's scheme is better suited for the NFL where one loss doesn't kill you. In college you really need to make the other team earn it on offense. Otherwise -- well we know how it goes. We will blow out some teams and get blown out by others.

It all sucks because I liked what I was seeing out of Brown this year up until last night. He just can't help himself.

With Harbaugh we are the…

With Harbaugh we are the Iowa of the East now. We have better players than them but not for much longer. Underperforming year after year is beginning to turn off the recruits. The window is closing fast.

Harbaugh is just an okay coach, as is Brown. Having a safety on an island with Hamler multiple times is inexcusable. In football you can't be a great coach by making the right play call 90% of the time if 10% of your calls are atrocious! That's a recipe for disaster. Your bad calls need to lead to first downs not TD's. Brown biggest weakness may be in identifying talent as he still coaches as if he has Bama's players.

Thought Harbaugg would be great but he's just okay. That sucks!

I'm sure all the others…

I'm sure all the other seniors love the idea.

I have no idea what college football is going to look like in 20 years but it's not going to be the same. One thing I'm all but certain of is there's not going to be enough quality players to field 130 D1 teams. The divide between the haves and the have-nots will continue to grow until schools stop fielding teams or they redo the divisions.

What was the question again???

There are levels of…

There are levels of corniness. Once you get to the super-duper corny level, think Michael Scott, you're almost there. If you  break through to the next final level -- the corniness shucks away and you can say just about anything and it will ring true, especially to college kids. PJ has broken through. I'm afraid our guy in AA may never get there.

And the guy can coach too. So that's a plus.

You're right there -- as I…

You're right there -- as I sort of mixed my metaphors. I really don't care about Harbaugh's on field demeanor but I do care about his perspective. I have no data to back this up, but in my entire lifetime I can't recall a championship level coach being so content with less than excellent performances out of his team. I don't buy the "he's unwilling to throw anyone under the bus" narrative. At this point, I think he doesn't demand the best out of his players and coaches. Or at the very least, he's content with something that resembles mediocrity.

The problem with this team…

The problem with this team is Harbaugh's positivity! In his latest post game presser he was all smiles. Many on here think this is just an act he puts on in public since he refuses to throw anyone under the bus. The sad truth is -- it's not an act. He's not capable of acting this well. Is anybody?

It's impossible to be this positive about a performance like this AND at the same time demand excellence from your players! IT CAN'T BE DONE! For some reason the universe doesn't allow it.

If Harbaugh doesn't bury the nice-guy-Harbaugh and bring back the fire-and-brimstone Harbaugh this team will forever be stuck in football purgatory.

55K???

That's not even SEC…

55K???

That's not even SEC level money!

Get out of here with that! That's D2 level cash.

You are assuming he really…

You are assuming he really cares about OSU the way old school coaches did. With Meyer, I think it's almost as likely he would like to see OSU lose to further his legacy.  By the time the OSU/UofM game rolls around he will probably be busy recruiting for USC.

Yes Meyer is good at this…

Yes Meyer is good at this stuff .... here comes the but..... Isn't this coaching 101? Everybody fawns over this segment every week, and they are good segments, but surely there are hundreds of highly paid coaches that can do this stuff. Or is there not?

If I had to guess on what makes Urban stand out from other coaches, it wouldn't be his film study, but instead how he teaches his players to execute in response to the things he sees on the film. In other words, I have little doubt that Gattis can see these same things on film but can he teach? I guess we are going to find out.

Even if Gattis doesn't work…

Even if Gattis doesn't work out that doesn't mean that the Pep lead offense was worth keeping. I will never forget that after the ND game last year, Harbaugh admitted that they only had one cadence sequence they were prepared to use (paraphrasing). So it was impossible for them to run a real two minute offense.

That was just a glimmer into the lack of attention-to-detail that the Pep/Harbaugh combo had. I was hoping those sorts of things would disappear when Pep left but so far -- no such luck.

What I don't get is how any…

What I don't get is how any QB today could have a hard time reading defenses and getting through their progressions when they have Madden Football. It's at least a decent simulator for those two things. Maybe less golf and more Madden would a good starting spot for some.

Still room for improvement…

Still room for improvement since we did give up a yard rushing.

Don Brown is hopefully proving many of us wrong. He's really mixing it up well.

Dwumfour changes everything up front. He had a great game.

The good news: It looks like…

The good news: It looks like Don Brown has finally accepted that he can't just out athlete teams. He is really mixing it up well this year and if he continues doing so, this defense will be very tough by the end of the year. Brown may be in the process of proving quite a few of us wrong.

The bad news: I'm confident our defense would have scored more points than our offense, had we just punted the ball back on 1st down.

Hopeful news: As bad as this offense looks, it's not as inept as those RR teams and there are pieces there. DCaf will get snaps next game and maybe take over the job. Harbaugh won't throw a QB under the bus, but based on his past, he will make a QB change.

Would you feel the same way…

Would you feel the same way if they delayed their payment until after they left the school? The more years you play, the more money you get. Could even throw in a graduation bonus.

The system is definitely…

The system is definitely broken but I don't think this is the way to go. A delayed, uniform compensation plan based on a percentage of revenue seems more workable at first glance.

A beautiful scenario I've envisioned is the captains of the BCS Championship teams meeting up a few days before the game and agreeing to NOT play unless the NCAA could figure something out. How quickly do you think they would pull a contract out of the back room if this were to happen?

Brown...

Here's the deal…

Brown...

Here's the deal with him: When he got the Michigan DC gig, he thought he could finally out athlete offenses. This is something he was never able to do at BC and he just couldn't help himself. That's my theory anyway. He really needs to recalibrate his approach and I'm actually seeing signs of him doing just that.

I've never been a fan of his aggressive style for two reasons: it makes life too easy for good QBs. Ask any good QB what type of coverage they would like to see and most will say m2m. Second, it doesn't create enough turnovers. Yes you get the occasional Jordan Lewis playing receiver and making the great catch but rarely do you see a QB get fooled into throwing the ball right into the lap of a linebacker.

I guess I just prefer a more cerebral approach to defense. Hopefully Brown continues to mix it up. I know he's capable of doing it.

Yeah imagine how we would…

Yeah imagine how we would look with an all-time great NFL QB. Come on man. All this talk about Milton being great is silly too. It's based on nothing more than hope in a big arm. That's it.

Best part of the game for me…

Best part of the game for me was seeing Don Brown mix in the most zone I've seen since he's been here.

This is funny, but how so…

This is funny, but how so many can continually point the finger at MSU and laugh while our football team is a national laughingstock is beyond me.

Oh and another thing...

I…

Oh and another thing...

I liked Gattis coming in to this year. I listened to all the interviews with him and he really sounded like he knew what he was doing and more importantly what he was about to do.

My -- Confidence in Gattis Meter was still reasonably high even after the Army game UNTIL I listened to his presser. In that presser he consistently referred to the players are "kids". This mindset just doesn't compute with me. These young men are about as close to modern day gladiators as you can get, so hearing the OC refer to them like that raised a red flag with me. Maybe this is a part of the cultural problem with the program where too many of these coaches are viewing these young men as kids and thereby not pushing them hard enough. I know I know ... just another not so hot take but I think there could be something there. This could also explain the more genteel Harbaugh as he views himself as the fatherly director of this program. While I respect that approach, it's not what this team or this program needs right now.

(Double post alert -- I have…

(Double post alert -- I have trouble navigating on this board)

Anyone that thinks this will be a tough game is kidding right? These are the games where we have been padding our defensive stats for years. So I'm all but certain there's some potential bonus compensation on the line for Coach Brown. He will continue with his ultra-aggressive game plan against an over-matched opponent and win big, while leaving all his starters in until 1:12 left in the forth. This big win will probably move our defensive stats back into the respectable range and put us back on the path to top-tier Big Ten defensive stats.

Then in the future we can all look back at yet another great Don Brown defense.

Ahhh you're kidding right?…
