In these times, it's not outlandish to consider that an AI tool like ChatGPT helped him out with this and IT ripped off MGoBlog.  That's the kind of thing you need to be wary of when you use generative AI.  The machine isn't sentient.

Brian or Seth confirmed the mgoposter is not Mars.  I do think he identified himself as a lawyer.  Isn’t it possible/likely this is just parallel thinking?  Like when multiple comics have the same joke about airlines or men vs women?

OP:

Copy the tweet's URL, then click the Insert Media Embed icon (with the little + sign in the bottom-right corner, to the left of the dropdown box that likely says "Normal"). When that window opens, paste in the URL and click OK. When that screens disappears, you'll see a text-only version of the embed in the comment window. Go ahead and finish your post and hit Save. You'll then see the full embed like this:

Saw that …. Likely not true.  The mgoblog post was an analysis of the by-laws.  Mars would come to the same conclusion because — well — that’s what the by-laws say

This was on an SI article that came into my news feed. Link

However, one Michigan fan noticed that certain passages of the letter by attorney Tom Mars were taken nearly verbatim from a post on the Michigan athletics fan site MGoBlog.

“Parts of pages 4 and 5 of Mars’ letter are plagiarized verbatim from my diary post the other day, right on down to the language I italicized in B10 Rule 32,” wrote MGoBlog user rym. “No worries — the point of my post was to contribute to the cause, and it appears to have worked!”

Rym, you da man!

I thought both responses were excellent. There were a couple of things in the Mars response that caught my eye.

He specifically mentions Illinois state law. There are two entities involved here, Michigan and Jim Harbaugh, with similar but still somewhat different interests. If a TRO becomes necessary could Michigan file in federal court and Harbaugh file separately in state court. Might get two bites at the apple.

The other item was quoting from Dan Wetzel’s article. He basically forced Petitti to go read an article that out right calls him dumb.

Brillant!

Who cares?  Mars would have been silly not to have been following the conversations here picking and choosing ideas from the fanatics base of the greatest school in the world.  I hope he takes mine and puts a pic of my middle finger in his document.  I won't file a copyright claim.
