they will screw FSU -- we remember 1973 selection by Big 10 that year --

most logical choice,…

most logical choice, recruiting, coaching, etc - would be Candle

Unless the Spartans blow it (out)

I think Mars was a good…

I think Mars was a good choice for attorney, but I do believe that Harbaugh should have taken a look at Attorney Jackie Chiles---he has a pretty good record too.

I was lucky enough to work…

I was lucky enough to work with an old Marine, on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1945 he landed on Okinawa, as Marine Lieutenant platoon commander.  He was the last person in his platoon that landed that day,  to be either killed or wounded.  He said they just carried him back to the beach, dumped him over the seawall & he waited till someone from the hospital ship came to pick him up.

When I was in the Army back in the late 60s & early 70s, we never got along with the jarheads.  I guess that was because we were jealous of them.  Whenever our country needed somebody to pull our bacon out of the fire, they would call on the Marines.  WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam -- they were there, just like my old buddy Harry.  RIP

This whole situation is…

This whole situation is getting out of control.  It reminds me of some of those old time Western movies.  There is a mob with a couple loud mouths shouting, "we dont need a trial, we don't need any investigation!!!  We want Justice!  String 'em up!"

Maybe someone could send Big Tony a message --- maybe get a copy of the old movie, The Ox Bow Incident -- watch it & get back to us.  Or maybe read the book by Van Tilburg

McClain got all the ink &…

McClain got all the ink & all the endorsements in 68  ,69 -but Lolich was the workhorse & won that world series for us--That will likely be something never repeated in MLB -- 3 CG wins in a WS --cant even imagine one CG now--also many on the Tigers did not like McClain, some thought he cost them the pennant in 67 with his mysterious late season injury, falling off his couch--

Lolich does deserve to be in HOF, but he did not pitch in NY or in LA, and he wasn't a loud mouth schnook --just did his job everyday, & drove his motorcycle home after every game,  He was even in the NG & was activated during the 1967 Detroit riots --he did have a book that he co-wrote with someone & it dealt with the 68 WS, was an interesting read.

Freehan also deserves consideration for HOF -- 11 times in AS in 15+ year career -- also I believe 5 golden glove awards & one year that he played in the AS game, might have been 67 or 68, went into extra innings & he caught the entire game ---during his career he was considered the best catcher in the American Leagure --

I heard that Rick Rizzs is…

I heard that Rick Rizzs is willing to leave Seattle to come back to the area & do PBP

Al Downing threw the ball,… Al Downing threw the ball, Hank slammed it, who caught the ball in the bullpen?
Al Downing threw the ball,… Al Downing threw the ball, Hank slammed it, who caught the ball in the bullpen?

Whitaker definitely belongs…

Whitaker definitely belongs in the HOF.  Hopefully now that many of the writers that covered him during his career have retired or died.  Lou was never very media friendly, he had a rep for not being available much.  Also when he made the starting AS team in 1985, he failed to show up with his uniform & they had to dummy one up from a batboy's uniform & it looked pretty hokey.  He just wasn't a self-promoter like some & if he had been, would probably have got more attention & into the HOF.

Also Freehan & Lolich should have been inducted years ago.  If they were from NY or CA, would likely have had better luck.  I remember when Thurman Munson died in that plane crash, they wanted to induct him immediately, since he was a great Yankee star with an upside.  Cooler heads prevailed and he was never put in the HOF.  Would be great to see Lolich & Whitaker go in together before they die.

who cares what clowns on FB…

who cares what clowns on FB or Twitter say --hurt our feelings?  Get the deal done. Everyone will have their own take on this.  Important thing, what does JH think, how will he proceed & what kind of coaching staff & group of players will he have going forward.  We will see the results next fall.

I think that Charlie would…

I think that Charlie would be a Strong hire

Have no idea what JH might…

Have no idea what JH might do stay/go/retire/ become a monk.  If he still has any competitive fire in him, I would think that he might want to stay at Michigan and prove all his critics wrong.  If he leaves, he leaves as basically a failure at his alma mater.  His legacy will only be as a good player and a mediocre coach here.  Sure he will get a ton of money to go to the NFL and maybe even win a Super Bowl one day in NY or LA & be declared a hero.  But he will always have this black mark on the family and UM escutcheon.  Or maybe he doesn't give a crap & just wants to move on to greener pastures.

have had season tickets…

have had season tickets since 1975.  I guess we were spoiled in the Bo & Mo years.  It took Bo a long time to win his first Rose Bowl --always seemed to lose the last game of the year-BUT -- he sure had some big victories during the season.  We had some agonizing losses too, just when we were going for an undefeated season, Purdue, Minny, & others. Always had the feeling when you went to the game, we had a better than even chance we would win.  I remember when big bad Texas A&M came to town with Woodard & Dickey etc & we blew them back to Texas.  The past 20 years or so its been mostly downhill.

Back in the old days, Canham always was about making money for the school, but not to this extent today.  Games starting at 4.00 in November, more night games, seating fees, higher costs for everything.  It seems to be all about the money & screw the fans.  With every game on TV these days, it is harder to get rid of your tickets if you don't go.  Previously they were on tv 5 times in 2 yrs. If you wanted to see the game, you needed a ticket.  Now you can watch from your living room or bar & not miss a play & not be out a pile of money & no traffic to worry about.  I drive about 7-8 hrs round trip for every game, getting hard to justify the costs.  The team just doesn't seem to have it--they used to have guys on defense that were 2-3 stars, that played like superstars on Saturday -- now even the 4 stars seemed to have a hard time getting up for the game.  These days, its like that old Mel Brooks song -- Hope for the best, expect the worst -- good luck Blue

not a bad idea -- if…

not a bad idea -- if Michigan is not in the CFP or the Rose Bowl -- we decline the invitation --for a number of reasons, even though we lose the practices & the dough --

1/ As long as we beat OSU in the last regular season game -- we insure that we win our last game of the season

2/ since we are skipping the bowl --all the players who want to save their bodies & health for NFL or the future, will not have to opt out - as the team has opted out--The TEAM

3/ do this at least once, in memory of what the Big 10 did to us in 1973

4/ at seasons end -- instead of the usual dinner -- have something much bigger -- schedule it in December at Ford Field -- charge fans $50.00 each to attend --open the concession stands & make money from attendance & concessions -- introduce the whole team, one by one & then give out the awards -- invite back as many of the old players as possible & introduce them --show a highlight video of the whole season (at least the wins) bring in the Michigan Marching Band to do a halftime show not limited by the clock, sing Hail To the Yellow and Blue & other forgotten tunes -- have Carl Grapentine narrate,  & also do the announcing for the event -maybe even bring in the great grandson of Whisky to roll the ball across the field again ---have the whole thing televised on BTN or FS1 --split all the revenues with the B1G --

and as a finale -- viewer advisory -- have the whole team moon Delaney --

To say that you helped the…

To say that you helped the team win the Peach Bowl?   By this spring, nobody will even remember the score of the game.   He is making the best choice, rest up, heal up & get ready to have the NFL get the checkbook opened up.  Good luck to him, he was great while he was here & will always be welcomed back.

first UM vs OSU that I…

first UM vs OSU that I attended was 1973 , 10-10 tie.  It was lightly raining when we came in.  I remember that we forgot our corkscrew and had to pound the end of the umbrella to get the cork through the bottle. (yes wine & umbrellas were present everywhere that day)The Schwarz-katze had a little chewy cork taste to the last drop.   I believe there were two FGs missed by Lantry and that one looked totally good.  Franklin gets hurt and the BIG 10 and its dislike of UM voted to send the Buckeyes.  After that, there was such a ruckus --they finally changed the rules that more than one team could finally go to a bowl game.  At a young age my intense dislike for OSU & MSU was stoked eternally that weekend.

If I was Lou, I would…

If I was Lou, I would consider acquiring some muscle for protection.  If certain anonymous coaches find out that she was going to turn states evidence, there might be a chance of an unfortunate accident.

Are they going to be wearing…

Are they going to be wearing the headbands again like they did in 1987 for the late Earl Bruce?--

AMF URBAN -- or something of that nature

Even though, its a little -…

Even though, its a little --Hokey?--- I do like hearing it, it kind of like a TD for the defense.

need to get Purdue into that…

need to get Purdue into that Revenge Tour to get revenge for the 2 point loss in 1976 --- Michigan was 8-0 going into that game -- at the end Leach could not connect with a pass to Jim Smith & that left it up to Bobby Wood who missed the potential game winning field goal -- as Ufer cried -- no good, no good, no good --

Re Patterson next year -- at…

Re Patterson next year -- at the PSU game, my nephew gave away my extra ticket to the game & the older gentleman who received it, arrived just after kickoff.  I had my radio plugged in & didn't really talk to anyone till later in the 3rd quarter--this guy had his binoculars & was watching things intently.  He started to make some comments & we chatted briefly on & off.  When McCaffrey came into the game, I told him I liked the guy & expected he would be the starter next year.  He said, No, Patterson would be back.  I said -- do you really think so? -- He said-- I know so.  Maybe this was the insider guy sitting next to me.

Agree that Brandstatter is a…

Agree that Brandstatter is a very good color guy, but PBP is not his forte.  If they want to keep him, they should force him to listen to recordings of Bob Ufer doing games, maybe 3 hours a night during the week before a game.  He forgets that he is on the radio & we would love to know what is the yard line(he misses that call often) down & distance etc - he gets too excited and forgets.  He needs to discipline his mind.  Listen to Ufer --balanced line, Leach under center, Lytle close...that guy was a true homer, but he was able to make the calls every time & make it exciting(also, you knew who was winning, just by the tone of his voice)--because back then, we only got to see 1 or 2 games a year on the TV--so he had to be good--we are spoiled now.  As for a replacement--we had 2 guys Ufer & Beckmann for over 40 years? Like replacing Harwell for the Tigers--they had to make a safe choice after Beckmann, but you would hope that they have someone in mind--I never thought Beckmann would be good at UM football, but he was - so maybe Dickerson, add in Crash  & Jansen if Brandy & Dierdorff retire --have to be careful with who they bring in--lots of history and tradition here--

O Korn starting

if JOK is the starter and he starts off as shakey as usual, watch the rest of the offense.  I just think that they have no confidence in him & they will play accordingly.  The defense will give their best and it will be great, but if the O has no confidence, the outcome will not be in doubt for long.  O Korn is not the leader that we need, but he maybe the only one we have.

Buckeyeo delenda est

adios O Korn

O Korn plays because nobody expects us to win and if he has a crap game or gets steamrollereed & looks like Wil E Coyote after he fell off the cliff, its not a big loss for Harbaugh. JOK is done after this year and Peters is back for lots more in the future.  Even if JOK is knocked out, you still have Malzone to take the punches to finish up the game.  Myabe our defense can turn it into a titanic struggle of the D's and Nordin kick the GW 56 yard FG to send everyone onto the field and carry him off into the setting sun, singing the Victors.

Harbaugh

Just saw this in a top secret post, from a guy's cousin's son who overheard this at Schembechler Hall. Manuel has petitioned the NCAA for a medical redshirt for old #4 after that broken collarbone in the MSU game in 1984.  If granted JH will suit it up and return for one last shot against the Enemy.  Vegas is already lowering the spread.  He is expected to get mass protection by the line due to jobs being on the line in this case.

Goodbye Columbus

Wolves 20 -- Bucks 16

We need this win in many ways, but how about winning one for the 1973 team.  One of Bo's best, but the game finished up 10-10 when Mike Lantry missed a 44 yarder that would have proably given us the game.  We were there finishing off our bottles of wine and smoking a victory cigarette, even with a tie, we were sure that the Rose Bowl was going our way. 10-0-1 was not good enough for the Rose Bowl.  They said since Franklin broke his collarbone, we would not be good enough to represent the BIg 10.  MSU & other enemies voted for OSU to go.    Wayne Duke, and the rest favored the Buckeyes that day.

We might again have the QB with a broken collarbone, but this time we will prevail.  K Allen will make a couple field goals, and maybe our QB with broklen bones will rise off the bench and propel us to victory.

Go Blue!

In winter cold blast

hope springs for a season of warmth and everylasting victories --- with all the optimism of new coaches, schemes and teaching, we can only expect to rise from the ashes and once again Reign Triumphant as Champions of the West --

but - we will have to come to face reality --

if all goes very well, with little to no injury bug, restore confidence in the players and the fans, we can expect at least ONE major upset win (MSU)??? and go 9-3

if fate throws a pile of garbage cans in our path - 7-5 -- but no matter what, we will be better and will not lose those games we should be winning and the faith will be restored and we will expect the promise of better days

Whiskey

I remember seeing that dog do his thing at halftime in 1972-73-- the second dog didnt have the same determination & the experiment ended after that.

I remember a game back in the 1970's - i left my ticket at home, think it was vs Indiana --tickets were $9.00 then & I bot one on the street for $5 & still sat in my regular seat --

we could park right next to Yost also - didnt need to fork out the large dinero either --

one more thing

bring back the paper programs that were given out on the corner --great items -- you get to see the roster of both teams -- some stats & easy to refer to during the game --

people will still buy the regular $5 program as their souvenir to keep - but the paper program was such a nice touch to have at hand each game

tradition

bring back Whiskey or his grandchild to run the ball at half time

less piped in music -

1.00 starts in November

All Hail to the Yellow & Blue

passing the wine bottles up & throwing over the side if we ever lead again by 3 TDs

a running game

punt returns

new staff

I think it would be great if Wheatley could be brought back, maybe as RB coach --

these other guys have great resumes & would be perfect hires if they will come - I am sure that Harbaugh will want to surround himself with as many familiar guys as possible, so he will know that everyone is on the same page -- its his team, he should get to pick it --

would be cool if he could talk  old Jerry Hanlon to come in once in awhile to teach some oline technique

RR

Just like in Stalinist Russia -- RR has been airbrushed from the history of UM football

Bo

Biggest day since -- can't remember the year - Bo turned down a large pile of money from Texas A&M to stay at Michigan

also, if Mo had listened to Bo and waited till he got back in town, he would have remained as the coach & I believe he would have stayed in the job for a long time.  Believe he is 73 now & who knows who would be coach now.

Harbaugh

I saw him when he got off the plane --

he was singing a song -- he told his wife -- teach the children this song & then he sang:

Sing to the colors that float in the light;
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!
Yellow the stars as they ride through the night
And reel in a rollicking crew;
Yellow the field where ripens the grain
And yellow the moon on the harvest wain;
-Hail!
Hail to the colors that float in the light
Hurrah for the Yellow and Blue!

In the shadows I swear I saw Bo & Ufer singing along with him

recruits

with his great name recognition, probably will not even have hit the trail to get some decent names come our way.

also the current team probably can hardly wait for Spring practice to start -- a new day comes to Michigan

what???

The Freep was reporting yesterday that it was this guy---Dewey Wins!!!

Freep

this is so funny.  After all the crap they published with Rosenberg & his anti RR & anti UM stuff --couldnt happen a nicer bunch of guys ---

I hope the Detroit News mentions it somewhere - maybe Chengelis or Wojo --

They figure they have the scoop & they got the poop

Hackett

can hack it -- great job & no leaks by him -- just focused to get the job done -- so far he is off to a good start

a better successor to Don Canham & Bo than any other ADs since

Ignore him

Herbstreit - in german -- his name means Bitter Dispute -- so you know that he is having a bitter interior dispute with himself everyday -- the guy can only speak to Corso or Mussburger --

he is a Buckeye who wishes he was a Wolverine ---that is why he waited so long this time, he didnt want to screw it up again, but he still tried to jinx us if possible

BULLETIN

1745GMT --The National Important Information Service has issued a Major Harbaugh Warning

-A large Harbaugh formation will me moving east at a rapid rate.  All Spartans and Buckeyes should immediately seek shelter.  Dantonios and Meyers should expect to kiss their ass goodbye.  The Harbaugh is expected to arrive over the Midwest area, the focal point being Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the next 24 hours.    Turn into this channel frequently for further updates.  That is all.

bt ar

Spring Game

I used to go -but the last 7-10 years have not been interesting enough just to watch a crappy scrimmage - could not even watch on the BTN --

but I predict this year -- the sun will be shining, the birds will be singing & the qbs will be slinging -- count on it-- good weather & a game

JH

Or new coach, will give the qbs something they lacked.....confidence

It will be a tough transition, very tough . But those who stay will be champions

I don't think Bellomy can be saved, Malzone will come to Michigan no matter who they sign

There will be competition and no favorites .the best one will start

I say

Once the job is done and Hackett has gotten his man.  Hackett immediately becomes the permanent AD.  He would be endowed with the Bo Schembechler Chair of Football Knowledge.  David "Sauron" Brandon will have his name removed from all records and any evidence of his residence in the Athletic Department will be destroyed and buried in the pits of Mordor.

I am will be happy

when I can watch Harbaugh walk across the field before the game & look Dantonio in the eye & say "what's your deal?"

that's all --just to let these people know, that there is a new sheriff in town

only 2 more shopping days

till JH Day

waiting for the announcement

this is all nuts

I know that Harbaugh is not the king of high fashion -- but I can't see him getting a shemp haircut & dressing like Davis.  Money is big & power does corrupt -- but .....I just don't see him driving into that alley in Oakland ---

Say it aint so
