I completely agree with your assessment of Howard.

My view is.. OSU’s defense has to focus on getting second half stops against Michigan.  A lot of the “blame” seems to be on McCord - and, I don’t think that’s fair.  Stroud was a VERY good QB with a strong receiving corps.

The Buckeyes OL needs attention / raise their level of play a bit.

The biggest thing that Ohio State has going for them next year is that the Michigan game won't be all or nothing anymore.  Under next year's format this year's team and the 2021 team would have definitely made the playoffs and probably have been favored against a number of the teams they would have played.  This year's Ohio State team was probably better than Washington for instance.

So even if they were to lose to Michigan next year they'll still likely make the playoff and have a shot at the national title.

Similar issue that Michigan had with their 2016 and 2018 teams.  Those Ohio State games were very all or nothing and losing them meant you didn't get a shot at the playoff.  Going forward it's just not going to be the case anymore where you lose the Game and you're likely locked out of the playoff.

It's on, people.

They better beat us now.  The pressure is all on them.

Lose to us yet another time, at home, and Day is toast.

OSU's NIL slushfund/warchest must be absolutely massive! 20 Million, perhaps?

Add in the money they spent to keep Smith and Houstan in their 2024 class, the portal guys they have added and the two elite 2025 commits they just got and the amount of money flowing out of the coffers of OSU must be staggering.

Of course, all of this is completely above board. Nothing to see here.

Jokes aside. I could tell something was different in their bowl game.

They're really trying to change the culture down there. In almost any other year, those guys opt out and go pro. They all played (except Harrison), even with a 3rd string QB.

And they played hard. It was noticeable even though the offense looked like dog shit.

This would be Michigan's toughest test versus OSU, but we have the opportunity to do BREAK them.

They're going all in, chips to the middle of the table, and they're probably going to roll everyone in their first 11 games.

Leave Columbus with a W and they are DONE.

I mean they'll be good and playing Columbus will always be a tough game, but they still aren't really that great on the offensive line and that's a huge weakness.  I'm also not particularly sold on Will Howard and I think Day has to figure out exactly what he wants their identity to be on offense.

But they should be very good on defense.

I agree on the Will Howard comment.  What exactly has he done to to be a "scary good" quarterback?  The RB from Ole Miss had great stats, but did he play against any great defenses in the SEC?  He was held under 100 rushing yards in 5 games; one was in a blowout where he didn't play the second half, but two of the other four came against non-SEC teams.  This means the other two came from SEC teams (Alabama, Arkansas).  He had 133 yards rushing against a horrible LSU defense, which was the highest he had in a game.

Our IOL and QB are the question marks - even if Harbaugh leaves, we should have a good year of transition a la Ryan Day in 2019. But our D looks stout, our tackles, TEs are returning, our younger RBs look good and your WRs have gotten some experience. Not saying we can run it back to 15-0 - that's crazy. But I think we can be pretty good.

Bring it, Ohio.

Which, isn't the diss you or others may think it is...Iowa plays hard. Iowa has a culture.

Iowa and OSU are pretty much polar opposites. If OSU gets a little Iowa...they're going to be a PROBLEM.

That's where Michigan's strength has been. We are pretty much the middle between OSU and Iowa.

The more Iowa that OSU gets, the more dangerous they become.

Just saw that JTT is returning too. They'll be loaded...again. Hopefully, w the same result.

Seems they've loaded their money cannon big time.

Its National championships or bust for them. Anything less and they'll implode.
