Damn, I am soooooo late on…

Damn, I am soooooo late on the Kentucky joke I wanted to make.

Is there any other major…

Is there any other major program with a Kentucky equivalent? Just bizarrely seems to win battles they shouldn't, get a number of transfers from the better program, etc.

Ahhh, thanks for the…

Ahhh, thanks for the refresher.

Is the thought behind the…

Is the thought behind the 2012 loss that Burke came back because of it?

Probably not worth creating…

Probably not worth creating an extra thread, but is Michigan in for anyone in the transfer portal? Amorian Walker is supposedly on his way back, but other than that anyone? Also, if it closes tomorrow what happens to all the guys who don't have a team?

For instance, I see nine 4-star cornerbacks in the portal currently without a team. I would think Michigan would be in on one of these guys given the Waller transfer - my assumption is Walker is coming back to play WR - but haven't heard a thing.

Or at WR, there are ten 4-star players in the portal without a team. If Walker were coming back at CB, gotta think Michigan would be eyeballing one of them? Are we going to see a flurry of commitments tomorrow?

You're right, I thought I…

You're right, I thought I saw today that he was confirmed to Michigan on 247, but it was just a 100% crystal ball.

Is Amorian Walker a CB or a…

Is Amorian Walker a CB or a WR now? Don't see him on there.

I'm pretty sure Sparty lost…

I'm pretty sure Sparty lost most of their only strength which was their DL as well as their one highly rated recruit of the last few years.

Michigan has lost Waller - admittedly a significant depth piece - and some unproven younger players who may become assets to a good team down the road but didn't want to wait and find out if it would be at Michigan.

Not the same thing.

His name is actually Jumbo…

His name is actually Jumbo Bootron and he's a vampire so can't actually receive the Name or Image part of the NIL and thus far hasn't found anyone capable of capitalizing on his Likeness so he's heading to a Pennsylvania school hoping to play off the -sylvania aspect of his heritage.

Waller's decision would make…

Waller's decision would make so much more sense if it were made next year. Aren't going to start your 3rd year in the program and want to go somewhere where its assured you will be a starter? I can get that, that's the Sabb route.

Just don't get it this year.

Also an obnoxious fanbase.

Also an obnoxious fanbase.

If I recall, Beilein went…

If I recall, Beilein went after plenty of highly ranked players, but almost all of them went elsewhere and listed Michigan as the runner-up.

Here's how I look at it:The…

Here's how I look at it:

The programs received punishment with bowl bans, scholarship reductions, etc. Players received suspensions. But beyond that, I'd be completely fine re-instating all wins and banners for any infractions because those games were played, we know the results and all vacating wins does is distort the record books.

It's dumb that Louisville vacated their title vs. Michigan in 2013. We all saw the game. We all know the block was clean. But Louisville did win the game and everyone knows they won and its obnoxious that the NCAA claims no one won that year.

These guys are takes right…

These guys are takes right if they somehow qualify aren't they? Wasn't DT the one area of strength for MSU?

Of course there are culture issues to consider I suppose.

From the rankings, seems…

From the rankings, seems like the kind of guy everyone at MGoBlog wants May to pursue according to On3:

#60 to 247

#116 to On3

#73 to Rivals

4 star to ESPN.

#93 overall on On3

I agree with this entirely…

I agree with this entirely. I think if Signgate hadn't happened, it would be a toss-up between 2021 OSU and the 2023 Rose Bowl, but because it did, it has to between 2023 Ohio State and the 2023 Rose Bowl.

The stakes in the 2023 game were incredible for a college football game and to be on the winning side...man.

I watched the first quarter…

I watched the first quarter of 2018. Had an extremely bad feeling the entire time and went out to do yard work just periodically checking in on my phone. Since then I've used that Saturday for yard work and watched 2021-23 in the evening after each win.

He had moved to DB correct?

He had moved to DB correct?

Damn, it just sucks that it…

Damn, it just sucks that it looked like we had a good game on our hands and then one minute of nonsense stemming from a terrible call and its over.

Need one before this period…

Need one before this period is done.

Michigan isn't taking their…

Michigan isn't taking their chances unfortunately, they keep trying to find the perfect chance instead of putting it on net.

That felt a lot like any…

That felt a lot like any number of moments in the TCU game. Think you're about to be in it and then suddenly down multiple more scores.

It's just odd because they…

It's just odd because they have an MGoBlog composite that lists him as a 4-star on his Hello! post. My extremely tame conspiracy theory is that Seth is purposely listing him low to use him as a sleeper pick in a preview podcast down the road.

Trust me, he won't get away with it as long as I'm posting here.

Is there a reason Carter…

Is there a reason Carter Smith is considered a 3-star in this update?

He's a 4-star to three of the services (top 200 to ESPN, Rivals and On3) and on the composites, he's ranked 195 at On3 and 149 at 247.

That was what I thought as…

That was what I thought as well.

So hypothetically the Red Wings could finish with more points than say, the 3rd place Islanders and miss the playoffs if they finished 6th in their division.

So hypothetically the…

So hypothetically the Islanders finish third in their division and the Red Wings finish 5th in their division and the Red Wings have more points, the Red Wings will get in?

Yeah but it's the Athletic,…

Yeah but it's the Athletic, the outfit that spent the football season moonlighting as one of Ryan Day's mouthpieces so who cares?

If May gets the FAU core…

If May gets the FAU core transfer to Michigan, I think it could be a downright bubbly year.

I'm good with Moore taking…

I'm good with Moore taking any guy with a Purdue (Walters) and Georgia offer.

3/26/1997, changed the course of the season.

The best regular season hockey game ever played. It had everything. Only game I've ever watched that felt like a Stanley Cup Final game. I was just a kid watching on TV, but the atmosphere was incredible to witness.

Thank God Shanklin is not a…

Thank God Shanklin is not a kicker.

Whoever comes in won't be…

Whoever comes in won't be expected to compete with even the middle of the conference until year 3, so there is some truth to this.

Also, if Michigan does get a mid-major coach, he might be able to bring a few guys with him.

If next year's team is…

If next year's team is better than Beilein's first year, I'm going to be pleasantly surprised. I fully expect it to look like that or worse.

Considering that Dillon…

Considering that Dillon Gabriel was an All Big-12 first-team QB, I think I would assume that Moore improved greatly under a better coaching staff and beat out a high floor type guy, the type of guy who might be perfect for Michigan next year.

They need to add a WR from…

They need to add a WR from one of the stacked WR rooms that are out there. The guy who thinks he's going to get the 2nd or 3rd spot at a high-powered passing attack and doesn't get it and could come here and be the 1st option outside. I think they will be okay regardless with Loveland, Morgan and Morris, but would be nice to get another big target.

I think it would be nice to add a QB as well. If Moore were to beat out Gabriel at Oregon, that's the highest profile guy I think Michigan could bring in.

If they solve the QB…

If they solve the QB position, I think they'll be one of 6-8 teams that have a legitimate shot.

The only possible way to…

The only possible way to keep Howard would be if Manuel knew that Michigan's admissions were not going to stand in the way of any transfers and that NIL was promising big money to bring in an entirely new roster.

Edit: I don't actually agree with this, I just think its the one argument you could make on how things could be improved next year.

11 Warriors is full of…

11 Warriors is full of perplexed Bucknuts who cannot fathom why a coach would move on to a rival program sure to be hit with crippling sanctions.

I wonder when it will truly dawn on them.

Navarre sort of fits. He…

Navarre sort of fits. He played as a RS FR though and progressed as he went along. Not to mention in his debut he threw 4 TDs (granted against Bowling Green).

He definitely fits the spirit of the answer to the question.

I feel like neither guy has…

I feel like neither guy has the 2018 Notre Dame game start to their career.

Is there a cornerback who just got torched for a game then turned it around?

A DT who got paved for 300 yards in his debut?

I'm not sure, but the JRJ experience might be a wholly unique one.

Are there any other examples…

Are there any other examples of Michigan players in this category?

Players who were so bad in their debut (not counting, say, a true freshman playing 2 years before he should have had to play) and then improved to the degree that they ended up at an All-Big Ten level or better?

I've been racking my brain for the last 5 minutes and haven't been able to think of anyone.

So basically if you have a…

So basically if you have a good combine you move up, bad combine down?

Man, if Trente Jones is…

Man, if Trente Jones is really 441, I can't believe Michigan couldn't get the NIL in order to get him to stay and play one more year.

Branch is interesting. He…

Branch is interesting. He was an early 2nd round pick and played 11 seasons. Never made a Pro-Bowl.

Maybe slightly disappointing but not a full bust?

"Agree, Hutchinson…

"Agree, Hutchinson definitely overrated imho, had 14 sacks last year of college (Stalions effect?), down to 9.5 and 11.5 first two years in the NFL. Harder game when you dont know whats (Tuck) comin'.

What?

Jake Long made the…

What?

Jake Long made the Pro Bowl in each of his first 4 season I believe.

He got injured in 2012 and was never the same afterward.

Your interpretation is…

Your interpretation is probably the correct one. It just seemed like a weird year where a team with zero conference tournament wins and 3 more wins than losses could make the tournament.

They are the worst team in…

They are the worst team in the Big Ten. This isn't Beilein's teams being in the middle of the pack or Harbaugh not beating Ohio State.

They are literally the worst team in the conference.

It's really be 3 years.

It's really be 3 years.

The Sweet Sixteen team was 17-14 going into the tournament after losing the first game in the BTT.

They got a sweetheart draw with Colorado State and Rick Barnes, the most underachieving major program coach in NCAA history.

Shit, now we really are…

Shit, now we really are going to see if the walk-ons can play.
