Sure, but TCU's offense is built on big plays. They hadn't demonstrated an ability to sustain long drives, big plays are their strength. I just don't understand why you would call a defense that plays into their strengths. Especially down 3 with all the momentum.

Just FUCK. this pain is going to a while to fade

When we were down three, D played like we were still down 15, and Johnston ran forever, like we are Ohio State defense or some shit.

After all the complete fucking nonsense, that was the other "difference in the game" play.  We have no excuse for that while down only 3 with an unstoppable offense.

As for the rest, everyone go jump in fucking ice water.  What a fucking mess.

Funny thing about that play is if that's Will Johnson and not Turner in coverage, at the very most it's only a first down. Johnson already is our best cover and tackling corner. Turner for all his speed is lacking in ball skills when comparing the two, and Gemon Green is even worse. I was a little shocked OSU or even TCU didn't try 50/50 balls on Turner and Green. Those guys never turn around for the football.

This is not on the players.

Yes, JJ there two costly pick 6s

BUT:

1st half: horrible ply calls inside the 5.

2nd half: horrible blitzing on D. We are not a blitzing team and we are doing what OSU did against us. Changed our identity. We are a base D that keeps everything in front of us.

I don't think we were as talented on defense as our numbers indicated.  We got exposed today.  I think we thought we had to gamble when we got down early and it was a huge mistake.  We played a Big 12 type game against a Big 12 team and that rarely works out for us.

Safe to say Minter was fabulous against OSU, against TCU he brought OSU game plan 41-38 3rd and 7 and he brings an all out blitz too me that was the play of the game

Much like the offense, they are built for controlling teams and playing conservatively.  They can’t be Uber aggressive and try to flip a game—- they don’t have the pass rush for that.   The offense doing stupid shit meant the defense had to play outside their comfort zone and they got fucking roasted.

Also, they still suck against running QBs and all the NFL centric shit in the world won’t fix that.

I won't blame Minter, but I wish we had stuck with the fairly passive defense we had in the first half. Yeah, they moved some, and yeah, they scored some, but ... we were at least forcing them to drive down the field bit by bit. In the second half those chunk plays just ate us up ... and we couldn't stop the run.

But ... hindsight is 20-20. We got the ball back with 50 seconds and a chance to win, and did nothing. TCU outplayed us.

Decent game from them until they got blitzy and the wheels totally fell off in the 3rd. That missed tackle by DJ Turner was brutal. You’re down 3 with a ton of momentum and you give up that

D-line really seemed to struggle all game

The dreaded mobile QB their Achilles heel again. Looked totally unprepared for the speed and physicality of TCU. I swear they came in thinking it was Rutgers in the first half. By the time they were figuring things out it was too late in the game.

To be fair to the defense, on the key 76 yard pass there were 2 blocks downfield before the pass was caught.   Both were key to opening up that half of the field.    OPI is real and was obvious.

They "only" gave up 37 points to TCU, which ain't great but also isn't totally unexpected.  But they missed too many tackles and let TCU do just enough to pull this out.  That Johnston TD where they blitzed and then couldn't tackle looms large; get a stop there and UM is driving to take the lead with 7-ish minutes left.
