State fans losing it after the four additional suspensions
November 2nd, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
My thing about it is - if you think Michigan should make another tunnel, you suddenly have to mandate it for everybody. And I'm talking college and NFL. It's a nonsensical thought (not at all as simple as it seems) - why should Michigan be the only one forced to build a 2nd tunnel?
November 1st, 2022 at 9:47 PM ^
Yesterday I got banned from RCMB for posting a contrary opinion about the tunnel. I was mostly a lurker, but I had posted dozens of times over the years. The RCMB mods have really gone off the deep end.

You don't have to step in shit to know that it stinks...
November 1st, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
They are either seething because they think this is a coordinated conspiracy against their innocent program, or they are delusional enough to actually think they have a real chance at bowl eligibility.
November 1st, 2022 at 10:14 PM ^
They had a chance at the Choosey Mothers Choose Jif Fresno Bowl presented by John L. Smith if we hadn't fucked with them by smashing a couple of faces into their fists. I'd be pissed off too.
November 1st, 2022 at 10:35 PM ^
I live in Fresno, well Clovis but close enough. It’s a fucking dump, can’t wait to move. Ugly, dirty, hot, crime ridden. Only an influx of juggalos could make it any worse than it already is.
November 2nd, 2022 at 8:14 AM ^
I suppose you could move ... back to Toledo?
November 1st, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
Hate to see it
November 1st, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
Now they get a better draft position...wait that might be the Loins I am thinking of...
November 1st, 2022 at 7:15 PM ^
This actually saves tuckers job this year. He and his moronic fans will say the suspensions caused them to lose the rest of their games
November 1st, 2022 at 7:43 PM ^
I think his unknown but likely astronomical buyout saves his job this year.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
His contract is apparently guaranteed, which means that his "buyout" is the cost of the remaining nine seasons (~$85 million).
November 1st, 2022 at 8:39 PM ^
Good god, he better give KW3 at least 20mill for that bag
November 1st, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
Huh? He was never on the hot seat.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:17 PM ^
It’s going to be interesting to see how Tuck handles this moving forward.
He is doing what he needs to do and it’s all in the public eye.
The problem is he has a locker room culture and a fan base culture that mostly thinks this was a bunch of nothing.
Combine that with they might lose their next four games and he could lose the team. He seems to be losing the fan base.
He is in the proverbial deep water and getting dragged down. He is not likely to wood chop his way out of this. Tuck going.
November 1st, 2022 at 8:04 PM ^
He could do a lot for the culture and the "rivalry" and come out to the press, state what he knows truthfully (with names and actions), and make a stand that shit is going to change. He won't, but maybe not because he doesn't want to, but for legal reasons.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:10 PM ^
Oh, it will be fascinating to see how he proceeds. Interestingly, his insane contract and no buyout is gonna be a huge incentive for him to do everything possible “by the book”. He has 95,000,000 reasons to not give them anything that could be used to fire him with cause. Which in turn, will hurt his team (compared to how their fans are used to it operating, especially with mork’s “zero tolerance”), which will further enrage the fan base, making his job harder, leading to more losses and madder fans. Is football worth $95,000,000 to msu? We might get to find out!
November 1st, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
I'm glad Tuck got the big deal since MSU is highly unlikely to find a single donor, or even a small group, willing to buy him out.
I actually think he's a decent guy who got a job he probably wasn't ready for - Fickell was the right guy when Mork left with his mega-bonus - but who can blame a guy for taking a better deal. Hoke did the same.
The real problem that no Spartan fan can accept is that you make a deal with the devil (Mork) then you're stuck with deal. Mork was 2-4 vs. real coaches (Lloyd and JH). He feasted on RR and Hoke for 6-1. He is PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for creating an unabashed HATRED in the fan base and players toward UM that NEVER existed under Perles or Saban or even Bobby W and John LLLLLLL.
The players have been groomed in 100% hatred toward UM and it's Mel's job to reverse the trend in attitude because another fracas like this and he's out mega-millions.
November 1st, 2022 at 11:51 PM ^
Here’s a list of B1G teams with a worse point differential in conference play since Tucker took over MSU.
- Rutgers
End of list.
Extend Tucker another 10 years please.
November 2nd, 2022 at 8:48 AM ^
Im sure the contract has something within it to protect MSU's likeness, etc etc. If they truly think they went in the wrong direction with Tuck, they will find a way to get rid of him. Ultimately if the Billionaires are the ones footing the bill, they will have to make the final decision.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:17 PM ^
Just visited that thread, they live in a different reality. It really is quite strange.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:19 PM ^
Unfortunately for MSU trends always regress back to the mean.
Dantonio was the highest win % coach for MSU for 5 or more seasons going back to 1915. Even better than Saban.
Dantonio also lined up across from RR and Hoke for a total of 6 wins out of 7 games in that period.
Sorry Sparty, it’s back to a historical 35% win percentage against Michigan from now on – like the level of Iowa, Illinois, Minn and Wisc.
Only PSU, Neb have close to a 45% and OSU is nearly 50-50.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:21 PM ^
I wonder if the fight or Windmon’s play on the field Saturday hurt his draft chances more.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:21 PM ^
Has anything been said about the length of the suspensions at this point?
November 1st, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
Indefinite, until the conclusion of the investigation, however long that takes. Could take until January, might be wrapped up by noon on Saturday.
November 1st, 2022 at 8:07 PM ^
They won't be playing in January, so anything more than 3-4 weeks will be moot.
November 1st, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
None of these players are coming back this year; a few will be playing at Last Chance U next year.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:01 PM ^
Jones, fr, GA
Windmon, transfer, unlv
crump, transfer, az
Grose, Jr, oh
Young, fr, GA
Brown, transfer, MN
Wright, Sr, oh
White, transfer, Arizona mesa
Half are transfers by my count of those suspended so far. Me thinks that they're already at last chance u.
Maybe the portal is not the way to build a competent program.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:07 PM ^
And 2 have been game day captains, true Spartan leaders.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
Flip that to Olu who came in with leadership qualities and won all of his teammate’s support. Or Okie who has worked hard to fit in and seems to be excelling.
Harbaugh has a surgical strike approach vs a carpet bomb approach.
Culture matters.
November 2nd, 2022 at 9:59 AM ^
Also plays into the culture of each program.
For an extended period, New England was able to take in malcontents e.g. Moss, Brown and get them to toe the line because Brady and Bill set up a high standard on how the program is done.
Kansas City is doing this now...
Harbaugh has created a high culture standard that allows him to:
A) he can be selective on who he brings in. No mass influx of transfers (20+ like some other program)
B) The locker room culture will not tolerate any BS behavior
Sparty on the other hand? Too many transfers, toxic locker room culture based upon full on hatred, and an administration and fanbase that manifests the toxicity.
November 2nd, 2022 at 7:38 AM ^
It might not be the best way to build a program, but lucking into Walker was a way for Tucker to build his bank account.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:53 PM ^
Portal for some. Jail for others.
November 1st, 2022 at 8:41 PM ^
It will be far closer to noon on Saturday. I fully expect Sparty to white wash this and hand out nominal one game suspensions with a bunch of blather about learned lessons and feigned contrition.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:55 PM ^
Nah I actually think they’re gone for at least 3(Crump is done for the year).
November 1st, 2022 at 7:34 PM ^
Not that I've seen. It wasn't in the official press release. They say they are still looking into it.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
What’s wild to me is that the MSU admin and HC are apologetic and don’t deny that the player’s acted reprehensibly. And there’s no hint of blaming Michigan from them at all.
Yet the MSU media and fans are working overtime to pretend it was all Michigan’s fault.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
Fans and media are still living in the Dantonio culture. Tucker and the outgoing president don't have their minds warped by Dantonio. But it's why they are all upset with Tucker. That, and losing the game.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:59 PM ^
I'm guessing the MSU legal counsel is calling the shots at this point, and they're trying to wall off the university from the actions of the players. Just a guess.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:50 PM ^
I wonder how soon the Green family lawyer will include UM for not providing enough or effective security. You know how legal minds think $$$
November 1st, 2022 at 10:09 PM ^
There was extra security provided.
November 1st, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
Yeah, we saw MSP's finest just standing there watching a good mugging.
November 1st, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
we now live in a tribalist, fake-news world where the only thing that's real is muh feelins and things that align with them.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
Yes this deserves a thread - RCMB totally unhinged, seething, waling right now.
No. It really doesn’t!
November 1st, 2022 at 7:30 PM ^
It would be more surprising to hear that Oxygen is needed for human's to survive.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
I see Tuck as the Lions next coach. Perfect fit.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
Mom took more toys from little brother, now a major fit comes. Living up to their name epically.
November 1st, 2022 at 7:31 PM ^
If Mel Tucker really cares about doing the right thing, he should probably call out his own damn fan base at this point. The fact that the coach and president have issued apologies, taken responsibility (mostly), and not attempted to deflect blame while their fanbase continues to act like this is somehow acceptable behavior is insane to me. I have a very good friend who is a Sparty fan. I haven't even talked to him about this because I'm honestly worried he might say something that pisses me off.
