Valenti's just bitter he's still stuck carrying water for Michigan St. He wanted to come home so bad. When Mike Francesa retired a couple years ago at WFAN in NY they brought a handful of people in and mixed and matched up the pairings throughout the day to audition them. Valenti was one of them. I had never heard of him before so I had no prior prejudices against him. He just came off so arrogant and douchy. Had no reverence for the WFAN vets he was paired with and acted like he was the dominant one.  He was the outsider and there was just nothing humble about him. I don't think he made it out of the first round.

Man what a gem!! Thanks for sharing. It's hilarious how stupid and arrogant he is at the same time. He's almost always wrong and yet carries himself like he's a greek God. Only here, surrounded by even bigger idiots can his schtick ever work.

"Back in the day" Valenti was D'Antonio's biggest cheerleader.  He would consistently state that he didn't care about anything but winning.  Winning at any costs, he was the major media outlet that rallied the fanbase to feed off an enraged hatred against Michigan.

And as a Blow Hard radio host, he was able to always manipulate the calls any way he wanted.  If you were foolish enough to call in and provide any valid point against his spew, he would simply hang up on you and twist the statement to whatever narrative he was pushing.

Given there is a 7 second delay between talking to them on the phone and what actually gets broadcasted, it was very easy for him to censor anything that he didn't want on the air.

Liberated myself from that moron over 10 years ago......

60 times since Michigan Stadium opened in  1927. Until MSU joined the B1G and for several years beyond the game was almost always played in A2 because Regents Field, Ferry Field and Michigan Stadium in their turn had much more seating than College Field, Macklin Field/Spartan Stadium respectively.

The older ones remember what it was like outright fearing Michigan. Bo, Mo, Lloyd winning with cruelty most of the time. Dominant teams, hall of fame players, bullying.

The younger ones know the stories and fear a return to the Sparty of their parents and grandparents time when they might win once in a while (Sparty Bob, clock gate etc.).

They pinned their hopes to a failed NFL DC (you can't say Mel Tucker's name in Chicago) who was really good on Instagram. They ran off an unethical miscreant who more wholly represented their values.

Two of the three coaches for my  son's travel baseball team are huge Sparty fans (both alums) and have spent the past few years rubbing in my face gloating that JH can stay as long as he wants to.  They would even say that they would hope and pray that JH stays for a long time.

This Sunday is the first day of practice, I am divided on whether I should pat them on the back and simply say, "Yay, your right.  I certainly hope that JH stays for a long time..... A very long time.  And better yet, it would certainly appear that #TuckComing is going to be sticking around here for awhile as well.  This is good, very good...."

I am actually think Tucker is trying to do the right thing in terms of handling a team with class, dignity, and establish a respectable culture.  But he is finding out that Sparty's culture is so deeply rooted in hatred and inferiority that it is a lost cause.

Dantonio would say similar crap but everyone knew that he was flat out lying to the press and said Sparty media would push that propaganda BS so that the outside world would buy it.

This will be interesting to see how this plays out.  I believe that this will continue to fall further apart and Sparty will eventually eat Tucker's contract and fire him.  The problem is there is such a small subset of coaches available that meet both important criteria to be a Sparty coach...

1) A dark soul that hates Michigan with every fiber...

2) Have some level of understanding of what it takes to be a good coach.

So the question is, what coach with any sense of reason would touch this toxic program?

Penn State and Michigan State have been at their peak in the past 10ish years. They are both unable to accept Michigan at 8-0 (and it not being a fluke). They fear the prospect of recruiting and playing against two top ten teams. OSU was a slow rise, boiled frog, fate...this Michigan rise is something they cannot fathom and it is regressing them into adolescent punks. These insane verbal threats, 10 people in a circle taunting + beat-downs, and throwing their PB&J's are absolutely juvenile. This isn't about the tunnel. It's denial. They are coping with a loss and poorly at that.

I heard this today too and said incredulously to myself while in traffic, “for f’ing what?!” And then immediately changed the station. I had no interest in understanding the mental gymnastics that got them there, so bizarre.

edit - his sidekick is Rico Beard btw, the same hack Brian mentioned in his game diary that retweeted some other hack basically blaming Michigan players for being in the tunnel and that they had what was coming for messing with the Spartan “Dawgs”. He’s terrible and offers no value to anything ever.

If our MSU preview is accurate, they just lost 4 starters on defense for the Illinois game.

3-6 incoming. Of course I'd rather have had zero violent crimes committed so our players had no concussions or broken noses.

Indeed, but great googly moogly has that place taken a weird turn after Saturday (and it was weird to begin with). I get that fan bases can get kind of intense and there’s a certain degree of tribalism involved, but that place has gone full tin foil hat. Like, full on cult status. This sounds like hyperbole, it is not. Literally, everything that doesn’t align with their little bro worldview is immediately dismissed out of hand and seen as further proof of the Michigan Illuminati influence.

There is not one reasonable, thoughtful, or even semi-intelligent take in that septic tank.  It's all Harbaugh's fault, the players got what was coming to them, they must have instigated it, it's Michigan's fault for lack of security...  Hey--you can punch someone in the face in the lobby of a police station.  Last I checked, those tend to be secure.  This has happened exactly ONCE in Michigan Stadium's career.  Once.  This is not a stadium or tunnel problem; it's a Spartan problem.  And no, Michigan and OSU/PSU woofing at each other in the tunnel is not the same thing.
