Yes it’s all hearsay, but if…

Yes it’s all hearsay, but if it really is proven that JH knew then I’d say the writing is on the wall at that point. Would be a tough thing for anyone to come back from.

Oddly enough Ono declined to self impose a suspension for him so the timeline on this “new overwhelming evidence” is a little messy.

It is not good at all. Like…

It is not good at all. Like Harbaugh done level.

If he can just average 117…

If he can just average 117 passing yards per game in the black and gold - he will likely have a statue built outside the stadium. Smart decision for his ego.

“The NCAA’s knowledge was…

“The NCAA’s knowledge was inadvertently leaked/released to a B1G program” which is what forced the NCAA’s hand (as that program pretty much poured gasoline in the situation).

Doesn’t seem like the conference leadership, moreso a specific program(s).

Again just thought this was an interesting update from the same user who posted this story was coming about a day before it broke. So seems to at least have some direct knowledge of what’s going on before it’s made public.

It actually doesn’t sound…

It actually doesn’t sound like that at all. NCAA “allegedly heard the rumors, considered them unsubstantiated, and did not consider to investigate them to any substantial depth.”

Then the whole story spiraled through the media so they felt they had to get involved since it was also leaked that the NCAA was aware of the rumors. This is (again allegedly) why the investigation was opened to prevent it from looking like a cover up at the NCAA level. So here they are, now apparently with a laptop. Hopefully this kid is on the up and up & just really good in his “one role” as another coach described him!

Haha that’s fine. I’m in the…

Haha that’s fine. I’m in the same boat I really want to believe this too. I definitely don’t know this reddit “source” so can’t speak on the track record. Trying to put the pieces together it kind of adds up to this point. We went from “credible evidence” to nothing being presented to Michigan to this point?

Do we really think this guy is suspended with pay if there is unmistakable evidence that he was involved with this extensive of a cheating scheme?

I have a screenshot and I…

I have a screenshot and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to provide that here lol I will try to find the original link and attach it.

Source on Reddit (whether…

Source on Reddit (whether you believe that or not is up To you - I kind of do here because it’s where this story originated a long while back and also popped up again recently before breaking) basically said this story leaked to B1G programs and subsequently the media without the NCAA being prepared. They therefore announced an investigation to make it look like this wasn’t a cover up from the NCAA. NCAA hasn’t come forward with any evidence even with this guys personal laptop. NCAA next move rumored to be walking back allegations vs hoping this story just dies off (which seems unlikely at this point).

Again no idea the truth to this, but the source was pretty on point before it broke I guess. Looking at this plus the suspended with pay makes this seem like a way better situation than it was yesterday. At least I hope!

Couldn’t agree more. Until…

Couldn’t agree more. Until the past few seasons I never really valued position group coaches / strength coaches. Harbaugh has a great staff in place and it shows. They seem to scout well and more importantly are developing players at an extremely high level right now.

Sky is the limit in 2023.

Here’s another probably…

Here’s another probably unpopular take but I think is meaningful recently -

Over the past 2 seasons UM looks like the hungrier, more physical, more passionate team in the game. OSU, from a recruiting perspective, had significantly more talent and got blown out twice.

What’s changed is day recruits well, but he plucks players from all over the country. Guys who don’t have any emotional investment in the rivalry. Guys who walk casually across the field and barely flinch as the block M is planted at midfield in C-bus.

If Justin Scott was truly ready to commit to UM and is a fan of UM then decides to go to Columbus at the last second then let him go. If money changed his mind, then I’d say that isn’t the player we want in this rivalry anyway.

What? The UM secondary is…

What? The UM secondary is phenomenal and in ‘24 will be the best we’ve seen in years. There’s so many talented players there. I think Jyaire Hill is going to be a star, he looked great in the spring. I somewhat boldly predict him to be starting by seasons end.

Feel like people overreact to recruiting in July (14 months before any of these kids see a college field). I’d be highly surprised if Justin Scott ends up at OSU. He was clearly very interested in multiple other schools & went with the one that made the last impression. Recruiting never sleeps, and with performance on field at various position groups I think he will be on flip watch until signing day ‘24

The problem is last year we…

The problem is last year we had beaten #3 Purdue, and didn’t have a loss to CMU.  This year we have 0 marquee wins, Pitt? That’s what we’re holding on to at the moment…

Still plenty of opportunities to solidify a spot, but they need a big win somewhere, I feel it needs to start this weekend vs Indiana. Get that one and then they can start compiling a few more to end the year. Every opportunity that’s presented itself they’ve collapsed.

Would love to see them sneak in though, there’s a lot of young talent showing improvement and they could be a dark horse if things click for a 2-3 week period in March!

Check out SC’s future…

Check out SC’s future schedules. They have almost a 0% chance of winning anything if he stays all 3 years before going pro. 2024 has Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson along with other above average SEC opponents. That’s dang near unfair for South Carolina.

Have only lost one game all…

Have only lost one game all season by more than 7 (if you’re considering that 5.5 point spread!). Have played some very good teams tight, but unable to finish. This is a desperation spot tonight if there is any hope to make a tournament bid. Not many teams can match Purdues size with Edey, but Hunter comes close. I think this is a really talented, but really lazy Michigan team - especially on defense. That being said I actually think Michigan takes down #1 tonight.

It sounds like there are…

It sounds like there are people genuinely concerned about Jackson transferring. No idea if there are credible sources on the ol Twitter machine these days. But he also is making some comments on Will Johnson’s IG posts getting people excited. I know they’re good buddies, and played this same game last year but if this were to happen this would give UM 2 stars at CB. Rest of the D looks fantastic except for one spot (CB). Why all the panic? Green was ok but I feel like they’ve recruited well here recently, bunch of great athletes in that ‘21 class that could slide in here and be very good. Will Johnson is a star, half the field will be ‘out of service,’ especially when you look at the 2023 QBs on the schedule.

How terrible. I really wish…

How terrible. I really wish we would have went the route of paying kids millions of dollars just to sign a piece of paper. Instead we’ve lowered ourselves to coaching them? The NCAA can’t be allowing that type of thing, and we will never recover from this.

Pardon my sarcasm. Who cares what they have to say.

For all of the complaining I…

For all of the complaining I did in another thread about how poor the coaching was, I'll give them a ton of credit here for the type of players they've recruited, the evaluation of certain players such as Mike Sainristil and what a good/important piece the he has been to the defense after the departure of Dax Hill. They're not perfect obviously, but it's a very good staff.

Let me go back to last night one more time and say this - Michigan was inside the 2 yard line twice and put up 0 points. Additionally JJ put 14 points on the board for TCU. Michigan STILL had the football with about a minute to go with a chance to win the game. That's kind of insane, like we probably get thumped by quite a few teams in the B1G, even Michigan St probably wins that game against us with the quantity of game altering mistakes that were made.

Last night I had said we probably will see TCU lose by 20 in the title game, but when I think more about this, I think it's going to be a fairly close game which will tell me what I've kinda of believed for the majority of this season - that Michigan is the best team in the country. And if it does end up being close, we can all feel even worse that a national championship quite literally may have been fumbled or Philly special'd away at the goal line!

Unfortunately, players and coaches still need to execute. The team did not deserve a victory last night, and to be honest with you after what we saw I'd feel pretty good about Michigan beating TCU pretty soundly if they were to line up again next Saturday. My best analogy for how to lose that game/what I saw was this -- Michigan took a grenade, pulled the pin and stared at the thing waiting to see what happens. You're losing to nearly everybody on the conference schedule if you have a 4 score swing like that on big plays, yet they still had a chance to win at the end.

I think the team is really really close. I also think looking ahead they might come into the year as the #1 ranked team preseason 2023. With OSU, UGA, Alabama, UT losing starting QB's and JJ returning the only other team I'd make a case for is USC right now. Lot's can still happen in this new era of movement in CFB, but they should be favored to win the B1G for the 3rd straight year.

One question I haven't really seen discussed much is who's behind Jake Moody? What a loss that guy is going to be, unbelievable job all season. He put a 59 yarder through with ease yesterday, had 7 yards to spare on that thing. Would look great in a Lions uni next season!

Oh and one more thing since…

Oh and one more thing since I decided to watch the final minutes again. Michigan had the ball at TCU 20 with over 6 minutes to go in the game & took half the time off to get points on the board. Zero urgency, continued to run the ball and then follow that up with slow substitutions, and using entire play clocks in between like none of it mattered. Gave themselves 50 seconds and 0 timeouts to end the game. All of that stuff that went wrong and you STILL had a shot to win, yet it was so ineptly managed from the sideline.

We would have lost to…

We would have lost to Illinois, Maryland, OSU, Penn St and maybe others with that garbage. You guys… TCU belongs nowhere near the playoff and it was completely buttf***** away. I don’t think people here understand what opportunity was just lost.

Mark this post. The NCG will not be within 20 points.

Harbaugh is loyal to a fault…

Harbaugh is loyal to a fault. Last year it was clear we lost to a better team. This is such a massive upset. The point spread is a complete joke, Michigan is 3 scores better than TCU and coached themselves to an outright loss. I am absolutely stunned at how incompetent this was. Kalel mullings inside the 1 baby lololol Dudes a backup LB.

100% coaching. How does…

100% coaching. How does anyone on this board not see that if you play your game you smash TCU. What the he** is this Loveland throwing the ball BS and mullings carrying it at the 1. You turned it over inside the 2 twice on weird play calls and threw 2 pick 6’s and lost by 6 points. That is a stunningly awful game plan from Michigan regardless of the pick 6s. Literally 28 point swing. That was the most incompetent performance against a mid-tier team I’ve ever seen. OSU or UGA will beat them by 20+

This would be a huge miss!…

This would be a huge miss! Hill is going to be very good, would have been sick to pair with Will Johnson.

Odd turn of events but that’s recruiting for you in 2022… either way with how good this staff has been the last few years I’m content letting both this announcement and the transfer possibilities play out!!

I hope Michigan doesn’t go…

I hope Michigan doesn’t go this route. Can take a look back at the “top 300” rankings for past cycles per 247 or whichever source is your go to for recruiting and see the majority of these guys aren’t high impact players.

Completely insane to pay that kind of money just to get a 17 or 18 year old kid to sign. Yes some of them will be stars destined for the league, but I’d rather stick with the current trajectory and not be a Miami or Texas A&M.

IMO, Ohio state already has an NIL problem. For the past 2 years they’ve been what I’d describe as a less hungry team than Michigan. They get pushed around, they’re undisciplined, they look disinterested on the side line. Noticed it last year at the big house, Michigan side is going nuts and Ohio state guys have their coats on looking completely lifeless. They recruit 5 stars from all over the nation, pay them up front and they could not care any less about this game. The results are showing the past 2 years.

Would much rather Michigan keeps recruiting the right player not necessarily the one with the most hype. Of course it’s nice to get a few of the Will Johnson’s but I’m kind of liking this approach of hitting the transfer portal to obtain already established CFB players. Big difference physically between jr/sr/GT and a freshman with potential and a bag of money!!

Michigan had a monster…

Michigan had a monster secondary haul this past cycle. Excited to see more of that class next fall.

The defense could be even better if guys like Okie & Sainristil come back. There’s so many other talented guys who will be looking to step into bigger roles next season.

He’s ridiculous. That play…

He’s ridiculous. That play he made on Stover in the end zone is so good.

Who cares. Sit everyone &…

Who cares. Sit everyone & heal up. “Thanks for the invite, but we’re going to stay home.”

Friday morning, wouldn’t…

Friday morning, wouldn’t read much into this, 7.5-9.5 is no man’s land. Unless Michigan is leaving for Cbus this morning, and there was no Corum sighting or something (which I highly doubt).

Personally think you’re going to see this bounce all over between now and pre-game when people actually see who’s dressed and on the field. There are significant injuries on both sides. That’s when the real line moves will take place, hope to see this crash through 7 just like last year pre-game. That would be a good sign from the big shooters

As of now per PFF, spread bets 51% of tickets on OSU and 71% of cash on Michigan. ML bets are 56% tickets on OSU and 98% of cash.

No idea how often they update but seems to be changing frequently. The spread bets tell you the bigger money is on UM. Typically like that when I wager on a game. ML also tells you OSU is going to be in a boat load of parlays tomorrow…. Vegas always looooves one of those TD range favorites to get popped and kill everyone’s parlays/teasers where they rake in loads of money.

MSU has nothing but negative…

MSU has nothing but negative news since the ball was kicked off in September. Poor performance on the field, de-commits, suspensions, etc. An MSU insider putting in a CB seems, in my opinion, more like trying to drum up some positive energy in the recruiting world.

ND had crazy momentum, a #1 class and a ‘top 5’ team per the offseason rankings. Moore still turned that down. Seems like he doesn’t have much interest in staying local if ND couldn’t reel him into that class.

Seems unlikely MSU is able to flip him, and hey if they do, good for them. Moore looks like the real deal and it would be cool to watch a local kid without having to stay up until midnight most Saturdays of the season

Here’s a list of B1G teams…

Here’s a list of B1G teams with a worse point differential in conference play since Tucker took over MSU.

- Rutgers

End of list.

Extend Tucker another 10 years please.

Harbaughs comments make a…

Harbaughs comments make a lot more sense now. Was probably clear JJ was the leader, but out of respect for Cade as a returning QB with a b1g championship he was not going to be unseated in the offseason.

Play on the field doesn’t lie though, it’s JJs job to lose next weekend.

Not to mention the 2022…

Not to mention the 2022 Michigan offense won’t play to the strength of the Iowa defense like in 2016. As we saw 8+ months ago..

This is off topic, but in…

This is off topic, but in the news so I have to ask…

Was there any insight as to the decision from Chris Hinton to declare for the draft? Undrafted, and now cut from the lowly NY Giants. Now what? Sure hope he got a useful degree. Mazi Smith is significantly better, and returned to raise his stock even higher. He could turn into a first rounder next April. Sorry if this has already been talked about, but it just baffles me every year with some of these draft decisions.

Easy. Eyabi Anoma. Losing…

Easy. Eyabi Anoma. Losing Hutch and Ojabo is the clear focus from most National experts heading into the season, but there is a boatload of talent at the edge. The overall talent and depth along the entirety of the DL can be better than ‘21….

1. Donovan Edwards is a…

1. Donovan Edwards is a Heisman finalist

2. 11-0 Michigan @ 11-0 OSU to end the season, Michigan gets a stop inside the red zone on 4th and 1. Both Michigan and Ohio St reach the CFP along with Clemson and Alabama. UGA slips up vs UT and then to Alabama.

3. Jaylen Harrel has a big year and reaches double digit sacks.

Outside of Ann Arbor:

1. MSU limps into a bowl game at 6-6.

2. I share some of the clemson love, they bounce back big time and return to the CFP undefeated.

3. ND goes 8-4 and this insanely early celebration for “number 1 class” in 2023 starts to fall apart a little bit, it seems de-commits have already started.

Thought Frankie was…

Thought Frankie was fantastic outside the early portion of the game when the team was unsettled as a whole.  If they’re to win multiple games he needs to give Devante a breather every now n then. Fresh legs and take care of the ball.

I might be the only one who…

I might be the only one who can’t wait to see Frankie Collins take the wheel.  Jones is a great scorer, but I feel like he looks to get his own too often and forgets about the rest of the offense.  Obviously he has had some great performances, he won the Ohio state game. But I think he’s too turn over prone & average at best defensively.  Really excited to see Frankie get big minutes bc the only chance this team has to make a deep run is if JH realizes he has quality players on the bench and decides to utilize them.

I can’t take much more of…

I can’t take much more of Devante Jones. This kid is awful on both ends of the court. Give one of the freshman a shot to run the point.

I think the strangest part…

I think the strangest part about all of this is the team he’d be leaving for.  The Minnesota Vikings. Really? Odds are he’s out of a job in 2-3 years, then what? He has a dream job that he’s risking for a team that’s lacking some big pieces imo.  I don’t think I’m totally crazy for liking the Detroit Lions path forward a little better than the Vikings as things stand today.

He’s a weird dude in general, but he seems to be in “I’ll take anything mode” right now with this. Not hating the guy for wanting another crack at the league, but man this move seems like career suicide to an extent.

You guys are crazy. …

You guys are crazy.  Michigan State was like -35 yards per game this season.  Don’t have exact numbers in front of me but UGA / Alabama / Ohio State were in the +180 to +200 range.  Michigan slightly lower around +150.  No team in the CFP era has won a national championship under +170 or so (Bama 2015).

It’s a good indicator of true strength of a team through 12-13 games.  MSU put up Maryland type numbers and won 11 games.  Good fortune, took advantage, good for them. Now sit back and wait and hope vegas posts a win total of 8.5 or higher for Sparty in 2022 and smash the under.  They add Wisconsin, Minnesota to their schedule, travel to Washington as well. They will struggle to make a bowl next year.

End rant.

Weren’t the Michigan coaches…

Weren’t the Michigan coaches quoted as saying Michigan is a healthy football team coming into the Orange Bowl?

Hope this means he’ll be clearing protocols and arriving in the next day or two.

Massive loss if Dax is not on the field.

There’s actual multiple…

There’s actual multiple studies out as of today to suggest omicron is more mild.  80% less likely to result in hospitalization (South Africa) & 66% less likely to result in hospitalization (Scotland).

Seems way too early to be confident in this data, but encouraging nonetheless.  Give it another 2-4 weeks before we have a better understanding of the severity.

Just my opinion but the…

Just my opinion but the stars seem kind of pointless the past 2 cycles unless it’s the top tier guys like Will Johnson.  Covid seasons made things really difficult.

Rod Moore was ranked 510 and is starting safety for the #2 team in the country as a freshman.  Seems like we actually have the staff in place to coach kids and help them develop to their max potential.

It all comes down to can…

It all comes down to can Michigan get to Stroud? If we can, then good things will happen.  If not he and that offense will pick us apart eventually.  Hit the California kid early and often in the 30 degree weather.

The one good thing is Don Brown and his scheme are gone.  You’re not playing man against this much talent and having success, and Brown refused to adjust.  We got to see where the flaws were when MSU went tempo, honestly that game was a huge help in prep for this one.  I like the fact we have a guy with an NFL background running the D this time around.  Disguise looks, confuse stroud, bring heat from everywhere.  This is a big spot for a relatively unproven QB on the road - he’s gone against Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska and Indiana.  The big house will be a much different animal on Saturday.

That’s awesome. So did Dax…

That’s awesome. So did Dax Hill.  Then he verbally committed to Alabama and faxed his signed letter right to Ann Arbor on signing day. Seems like Alabama has that immediate ‘shock and awe’ effect on guys after visits. The fact Michigan will be bringing him to town weeks before signing day is the biggest deal in this race even if he verbals to Alabama tomorrow.

Oh sorry for that confusion…

Oh sorry for that confusion. I’ve never strapped on the pads we these guys so that’s why I chose that terminology.  Honestly I know I’m in the minority here, but I feel better about this team than I did last Friday even though there’s a loss in the column now.  Best team Harbaugh has had since 2016 and most of the shortcomings I saw Saturday are fixable.  Mostly at the coaching level not the personnel on the field.

Michigan of course

Michigan of course

There is a lot of football…

There is a lot of football left to be played. Michigan did a lot of good things Saturday that should have people feeling at least somewhat positive going forward.

-550 yards of offense and outgained MSU by 160 yards.

- Cade answered a ton of questions people had.  Andrel Anthony was great, this team really needed someone to step up on the outside.

-MSU has, in my opinion, the second best WR group in the B1G and the defense did a pretty good job against them. That should at least give a little glimmer of hope against the buckeye offense.

- 16 point lead with 6 minutes left in the third quarter and MSU literally went to the roulette table and hit 4 straight numbers.  Multiple 3rd and longs. Converting the 4th and 5.  2 scores + 2 pt conversions. McNamara in the medical tent “working through something” to set the stage for that fumble to take place.

- As far as the B1G East goes, you still have everything in front of you and need to get over this game really quick. Whether they won that game Saturday or lost 85-0 the season SHOULD come down to 11/27. The Penn St game just became much more desperate now though. Win out and you’re in the playoff.  MSU, taking out their FCS game, is actually a net negative in yards per game and have played 1 winning team all season. That’s called good fortune.  Pretty good odds they lose multiple games through the next 4. Tip your cap to Kenneth Walker for that performance and move on. You were the better team and didn’t come out on top.

- All that being said, the concern isn’t the players for me, at this point it’s the coaching. McDonald just showed everyone moving forward he can’t handle tempo. Substitution penalties from the defense multiple times and just not ready at the snap, one ending up as a TD.  Offensively, no killer instinct in the red zone. Playing not to lose when in reality they have chances to run away with it. Harbaugh takes the blame, but this is why you hire coordinators. Everybody pre game was praising McDonald, but he didn’t have that defense prepared at all.  It’s a good tune up for what’s going to be a much bigger machine at the end of the November, but he failed big time this past Saturday.
