The D is going to be great.
February 24th, 2024 at 10:17 AM ^
Gotta love the D!
February 24th, 2024 at 3:12 PM ^
Hope for some hidden depth we have not seen yet from the non-starters. Next man up.
February 24th, 2024 at 10:33 AM ^
That's what she said.
February 24th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
Happy we made it through the first window relatively unscathed, but considering the NCAA cannot enforce NIL rules and it will be far easier academic wise to transfer in the next window, it’s probably best to be cautiously optimistic.
Anybody can be contacted at any point and enticed with any amount of money for pay for play and there are ZERO safeguards against it. I think we are going to see unprecedented movement in the next portal window around the country.
February 24th, 2024 at 11:54 AM ^
Oh you with those pesky facts and logic.
Yeah, I saw this thread and thought the same thing. This is like throwing a party to celebrate you're going to live forever because you didnt die today.
It's coming. Unless we dramatically change our institutional approach to the NIL during this window the exodus is definitely coming.
February 24th, 2024 at 12:11 PM ^
This is not what I want to hear, so I choose not to believe you.
February 24th, 2024 at 12:14 PM ^
I get that, I definitely get that.
Oh, and congrats everyone on achieving immortality.
February 24th, 2024 at 5:12 PM ^
We are only immortal for a limited time.
February 24th, 2024 at 7:13 PM ^
This is how I handle much of life.
1. ”If X were true, it would make me feel bad”
2. “I don’t like feeling bad”
3. “X must not be true”
February 24th, 2024 at 12:41 PM ^
Well I have been reliably informed by Insiders that “things are moving in the right direction” on the NIL front, so…
February 24th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Warde needs to move on from "Transformational Not Transactional" to " "Transformational Not Transactional" " (and here's your million dollar NIL).
February 24th, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
Lots of whistling past the graveyard in this thread.
February 24th, 2024 at 3:02 PM ^
This board is fucking incapable of being remotely content. It's exhausting.
February 24th, 2024 at 5:29 PM ^
The “exodus” is not coming. A few guys will go to find playing time elsewhere. Had Rod or Paige left for the NFL, Keon wouldn’t have left. Why post something like that when you know nothing?
February 24th, 2024 at 9:41 PM ^
Probably the same reason you posted that the exodus wasn’t coming when you know nothing. The forum is about opinions.
February 24th, 2024 at 10:05 PM ^
I for sure know absolutely nothing, no coaches, no athletic department staff, no other people. 100% for sure. You got me!
February 24th, 2024 at 2:16 PM ^
Its all pay 4 play people. People use that now to insinuate that Michigan is the only school following the rules.
Michigan could care less about following the rules....this is about protecting $$$$$$.
February 24th, 2024 at 3:18 PM ^
Happy we made it through the first window relatively unscathed, but considering the NCAA cannot enforce NIL rules and it will be far easier academic wise to transfer in the next window
That works both ways now. We need to make our shopping list and then go raiding the rest of college football unabashedly. NIL stands for Now It's Legal
Our NIL can't be that bad that the reigning National Champions can't go pluck off some key players from other also-ran programs.
February 24th, 2024 at 4:48 PM ^
Yes, there is an opportunity here to take advantage of the situation, rather than fear what other teams will do.
February 24th, 2024 at 3:50 PM ^
ALL CAP!!
#BET
(am I doing this right?)
February 25th, 2024 at 10:42 PM ^
I think by all reports the collectives really did step up in terms of NIL and making sure they were retaining the current roster. And I do think our NIL game is much better on the roster retention side of things. Where we’ve fallen short is in terms of recruits and guys who are not on campus yet.
We will of course lose guys during the April window. But they will be the more standard typical portal attrition versus further transition costs.
February 24th, 2024 at 8:21 AM ^
I'll bang to this. Only one expected contributor lost!
February 24th, 2024 at 8:24 AM ^
And luckily at a position that it pretty deep!
February 24th, 2024 at 9:05 AM ^
And because it was so talented at the top.
February 24th, 2024 at 9:05 AM ^
That's probably not a coincidence.
February 24th, 2024 at 10:49 AM ^
The Sherrone culture thing seems to be real. Only losing Sabb is a great sign.
February 24th, 2024 at 8:24 AM ^
GO BLUE!
February 24th, 2024 at 8:30 AM ^
Good sheet Warde!
February 24th, 2024 at 8:36 AM ^
To be fair, it reopens in spring.
February 24th, 2024 at 8:46 AM ^
Yes, and a chance for incoming contributors, too
February 24th, 2024 at 9:07 AM ^
Those who stay (and those who transfer in) will be champions.
February 24th, 2024 at 9:58 AM ^
Those who transfered out are also champions though. A loophole.
February 24th, 2024 at 1:50 PM ^
Even Jaden Smith?. He was only in Ann Arbor long enough for a cup of coffee (and maybe a cheeseburger).
February 24th, 2024 at 2:37 PM ^
Shh! Don't mention the cheeseburger! The NCAA considers that a death-penalty worthy offense.
February 24th, 2024 at 9:10 AM ^
We need to get a QB.
February 24th, 2024 at 9:59 AM ^
Depends on who enters the portal. I think we’re sitting okay to the point where it doesn’t make sense to add just for the sake of adding. If you’re not getting a clear upgrade.
I think Denegal and Tuttle are capable of providing a Cade-esque option at QB, and if Orji shows improvement as a passer he has some significant upside there. Unless you’re talking about getting someone like Cam Rising to enter the portal, I’d rather just stick with the guys who have been in the system a few years.
February 24th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
We have a 7th-year senior (!) who's thrown about 200 career passes and has been in the system a year. I think we can roll with him.
February 24th, 2024 at 12:51 PM ^
It is still a big downgrade from JJ. Even if a few good QB enter the portal, I doubt Michigan will spend the $$$ to get them on the team.
February 24th, 2024 at 2:01 PM ^
It is still a big downgrade from JJ
That’s true of anyone who would enter the portal anyway. JJ is not on the roster so there is zero reason to compare anyone to JJ. You’re comparing a potential transfer to Denegal/Orji/Tuttle.
February 24th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
Who is available that wouldn't be a big downgrade from JJ?
As long as Will Johnson, Mason Graham, and Kenneth Grant return with another year of experience (even better) and the surrounding cast is very good, Michigan will have a good shot to win any game.
February 24th, 2024 at 12:58 PM ^
I'm with Brian on this one.. If someone pops free I'm sure we sniff around but it doesn't feel like a Jake Rudock is gonna be available. And who's to say Jack Tuttle isn't already the Jake Rudock of 2024?
Seems unlikely a high level talent is gonna shake free after spring then come in and learn fast enough over the summer and fall and be better than what we have now.
February 24th, 2024 at 2:53 PM ^
Not that they would be necessarily be upgrades OR consider Michigan, but I want to remind you that Ohio State waited to announce their transfer QB and also got a “nominal transfer” 5* frosh AFTER the portal closed for their guys. I suspect at least one OSU QB will hit the portal this Spring.
February 24th, 2024 at 11:35 AM ^
I’s just calls em as I sees em!
February 24th, 2024 at 3:27 PM ^
Don't worry, rival fans have already moved the goal posts to saying that everyone will leave in spring. We will probably lose some players in spring from usual attrition or guys who don't love the new staff, but if anyone was going to bail for money they would've done so already imo
February 24th, 2024 at 8:40 AM ^
Coach Moore getting it done - I would want to play for that guy!
February 24th, 2024 at 10:04 AM ^
Pete, Didn’t you score four touchdowns against Polk high?
February 24th, 2024 at 10:19 AM ^
As a teammate of Spare Tire Dixon?
