Harbaugh wasn't 'probably…

Harbaugh wasn't 'probably leaving.'

He was interviewing with NFL franchises in the off-season, for multiple seasons.

He has repeatedly said that his time in the NFL was 'the best time of his life.'

He has repeatedly said there is no greater pinnacle than winning a Super Bowl.

Blame Warde for whatever you want, I don't think he's without flaws. For the love of God give up the 'Warde should've done more to try to retain Harbaugh.' Jack Harbaugh could've been the AD at Michigan and Jim still would've gone to the NFL. He wants to win a Super Bowl, and that's ok.

Sparty's 3rd 'goal' was…

Sparty's 3rd 'goal' was unfathomable. I've NEVER seen that be called a goal, when the original call on the ice was no goal.

1. The puck was under Barzo for several seconds. This should have been blown dead. Refs sometimes let play continue, so this one is the only part of the play that can be debated.

2. The whistle was blown before the puck crossed the line. The whistle being blown is not the definitive end, the rule specifically states the play is dead 'when the ref intends to blow the whistle.' Even so, on replay, it's clear the whistle blows the play dead prior to the puck crossing the line- or at worst, you can't see where the puck is.

3. You cannot push a goalie's pad that is covering the puck into the goal resulting in a goal.

Bad calls happen, it's sports. But this one is the biggest home cooking bullshit in a long time. It's a shame because that was a really exciting hockey game between two really good teams. Why in 2024, are reviews not centralized to the B1G office? It would still probably suck, but at least there would be one person consistently calling the shots, compared to different officials trying to make sense of a review in-arena, on a tiny screen.

Sorry but Louisville is a much better job than Michigan for basketball.

Nate Oats just signed a contract making him one of the highest paid coaches in the country, at a school with virtually no restrictions. Pretty sure making him say NO, won't be too hard.

John Beilein is 71, and left the game because of growing frustration with the way the game was trending, which has only become more amplified. He's arguably the greatest coach in Michigan basketball history, but he is the completely wrong fit for college basketball today.

Mark Few is 61, grew up in Oregon, has been at Gonzaga since 1999, and the only job he EVER considered other than Gonzaga, was his alma mater, Oregon.

Sorry Jermain but this has to be the most uncreative list possible. There are lots of good candidates out there. Dusty May, TJ Oltzelberger, Mick Cronin, Shaka Smart I'd all make say NO prior to the 3 you mentioned.

Pete Thamel reporting that…

Pete Thamel reporting that previous story re. Spike Albrecht and tiramisu riddled with inconsistencies. Beilein did, in fact, allow Albrecht to have delicious, beer battered dessert, despite being only 19 years of age at the time.

Sources have confirmed NCAA is actively looking at new forms of sanctions to punish Universities instead of current players. Hearing that Michigan will likely be forced to retain Juwan Howard indefinitely.

Happy we made it through the…

Happy we made it through the first window relatively unscathed, but considering the NCAA cannot enforce NIL rules and it will be far easier academic wise to transfer in the next window, it’s probably best to be cautiously optimistic.

Anybody can be contacted at any point and enticed with any amount of money for pay for play and there are ZERO safeguards against it. I think we are going to see unprecedented movement in the next portal window around the country.

Yep, inaction and resultant…

Yep, inaction and resultant government dysfunction pisses people off and helps to push the narrative that 'the government doesn't work.' It's a big cycle of suck. But anger fuels votes, why solve problems to actually help people?

Report that Grubb might be the OC for the Seahawks.

Was responding to above, and not an attack on you.

I'm not arguing either way about whether Warde should be AD or not. I think you've laid out several clear and fair points for why you feel the way you feel. I wish more people were like you. I'm just saying our society as a whole likes to approach from the mob mentality side moreso than the critical thinking side.

We're all prone to it. Easy to get riled up and pick apart every tweet from a reporter that goes against us, and then alternatively believe things that sound good to us. Guilty of it myself and I really try to be cognizant of it.

It's called mob mentality…

It's called mob mentality. Everybody hates it when it's against them and seems unfair, yet are usually quick to participate in it and not realize the hypocrisy. Flaws of being human.

My two biggest issues are 1)…

My two biggest issues are 1) roster management and 2) team defense (effort). Both of those fall squarely on the man in charge of the program.

Offense is not the problem, and has never been the problem under Juwan, even with a less than stellar roster makeup. Our shooting has gotten worse consistently, but it's not like we don't get good looks. I actually think he is a plus coach on that side of the ball.

Money truly ruins everything…

Money truly ruins everything.

Wtf is this? What kind of…

Wtf is this? What kind of people are you hanging around who would care that you aren't wearing 'brand name clothes.' There are plenty of arrogant people at Michigan but also plenty of normal people.

Damn I would love for Juwan…

Damn I would love for Juwan to revamp like Harbaugh and succeed, but I just don't see it. He loves Michigan and that is clear. But we have been consistently worse since Beilein's players moved on. Less fundamentals, less discipline, but most of all, less effort. These players are not being coached to their potential.
Juwan said in an interview he isn't great at making guys have passion to play--that's an enormous red flag for a college coach, and sounds more like somebody best suited for the Association.

On a related note, really…

On a related note, really wish they would bring this back, or at least release a variation every season. Harbaugh seemed to wear for the first few seasons, and then transitioned to polos/hoodies/various other sweatshirts. The 2017 version was perfect…comfortable material, thin M front and center, smaller brand logo. The next season had the logos the same size, taking focus off the M, and not as good looking IMO.

With Harbaugh gone, do you…

With Harbaugh gone, do you think the skinny M is gone also? Would be really bummed if that's the case, I think it looks a lot better on a hat than the standard. I really wish they would bring back the flags with the skinnier M also (have not seen at MDen for >5 years now).

You’re probably right, I can…

You’re probably right, I can’t see a single kid wanting to play for Michigan anymore moving forward.

What do you think they’ll turn the Big House into now that football’s done?

(No subject)

You’re wrong. It’s clear…

You’re wrong. It’s clear this has been a 15 year plan orchestrated by our enemies.

1) Make our championship winning coach old forcing him into retirement
2) Replace with an up and coming coach, but make it as hard as possible for him to succeed
3) Hire a horrible AD who thinks he’s smarter than everybody else, who hires a guy not ready for prime-time
4) Fire said AD, bring in interim AD who makes most important coach hire in a decade and nails it
5) Have 9 years of some of the best football in Michigan’s history, capped by winning a National Championship
6) Have coach leave to pursue other endeavors and he takes coaches with whom he has a good relationship to help him achieve those goals, leaving the fan base it absolute misery, having to celebrate that all they did was win a National Championship

Plan executed to perfection. Damn it’s tough being a Michigan fan.

No you're clearly not a true…

No you're clearly not a true fan. You are supposed to bitch and moan that doom and gloom is upon us, after WINNING A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, even though numerous cards are stacked against us as a program (eg. weather, institutional limitations regarding transfers/NIL/actually caring somewhat about academic standards/not being the only major program in your state).

When individuals from the program want to advance their careers and explore new opportunities, you are supposed to blame them for burning it all down on the way out.  Don't you know these people are only around to bring the fans joy and cater to our needs? Selfish, selfish coaches.

I'm disappointed he's…

I'm disappointed he's leaving, but good for him.

We win a national championship, and a bunch of people on this blog want to disparage Harbaugh and claim he is tearing down Michigan on the way out. Get a damn grip. People have goals, desires, personal reasons, etc. of their own and want to pursue them. It's ok. When you have success this happens. Michigan will be ok. Change is inevitable, grow the hell up.

I'm not a Warde apologist,…

I'm not a Warde apologist, but I think anybody claiming this is his fault is probably misguided (with the caveat that I have no knowledge above what the average fan knows on the situation).

Jim said last year the NFL flirtation was not going to be an every year thing. Jim is brutally honest, and this makes me think he's going to the NFL. I don't think he would continue to interview with NFL teams based off that statement.

Jim has way more job security at Michigan than in the NFL, where we routinely see coaches fired in shorter periods of time. I really find it hard to believe the only holdup is about 'what should be covered by immunity.' The University has to cover itself from the unknown NCAA, but they've also made it clear that they would make a huge commitment to Jim.

Personally, I just think he wants to win a Super Bowl, which is fine.

Lol it hasn't. For example,…

Lol it hasn't. For example, players used to play in 'meaningless' bowl games.

Once again, I don't fault any player for not risking injury and future earnings. I'm not in their position so it's unfair for me to criticize. I do forsee a future where we get to players sitting out the rest of a season once eliminated from playoff contention, to 'prepare for the draft.'

Things change, and that's the way it goes. Doesn't mean I have to think it's good.

First off, kid has every…

First off, kid has every right to make his own decision. So good for him for trying to maximize his success.

Things change, and that's the way it is. But damn if I don't have nostalgia for the old days. Member when being part of a team had value and taught lessons, compared to now where it's 'what can I do to get mine?' Again, I don't fault him, it's just the way things are now.

This isn't being reported by…

This isn't being reported by anybody else, except a 'verified' X account, which means absolutely nothing.

Everybody is so quick to jump on reporters who don't verify sources, yet so many show they are guilty of the exact same thing.

EDIT:

Some additional ppl are picking up that he is their top target. Though not reporting this is a done deal yet.

EDIT EDIT:

CBS is now reporting he's hired around 5p. Apologies to OP.

Great title, very informative

Great title, very informative

Partial pass bc we're National Champs!

Elite QB play definitely…

Elite QB play definitely puts you over the top, but first you need dominant line play.

Fair point, misinterpreted…

Fair point, misinterpreted your original comment as being negative on Lincoln Riley.

Dude,

 Baker Mayfield:…

Dude,

  •  Baker Mayfield: average yes, but still starting in the league
  • Kyler Murray: starting in the league, still has a chance to play for years to come
  •  Jalen Hurts: he’s pretty damn good
  • Spencer Rattler: transferred out bc he was passed by below
  •  Caleb Williams: prob going to go #1. I personally think bust, but plenty of NFL executives think otherwise

Name other coaches who have had 4 starting level NFL QBs. I think Riley has plenty of flaws, but it’s pretty clear he can coach offense, and QBs. Kind of confused by your comment. I agree his system helps players put up big stats, but going from college to NFL is often times a crap shoot for projecting QBs.

Or somebody is willing to…

Or somebody is willing to pay him money, and he's willing to accept it. Not sure how that says anything about his NFL prospects.

You might make the same decision at 20 years old. Probably even at whatever age you are now.

Can exercise all you want…

Can exercise all you want...ultimately you are what you eat.

Going to be interesting to…

Going to be interesting to see how big time programs react to regularly having 'down' years.

4 Ls in a season would be considered a 'bad year.' Now you might regularly play 4 top 15 teams a year just in conference play alone.

I love Ohtani, good for him…

I love Ohtani, good for him.

This is also the Dodgers throwing a lot of money for somebody who turns 30! this season. In all likelihood based off historical data, maybe 3-4 years left of elite level play.

Now, he is a generational talent. But seriously wtf?

The 'best' coaches just…

The 'best' coaches just happen to have, in general, the most talented players. I totally agree the idea that x coach is great and y couch sucks is pretty ridiculous.

Obviously there are coaches that do have more success than others, and some that are ‘better’ than others.

Examples:

Bill Belichick- 'greatest of all time.' All of a sudden once Brady is gone, he looks pretty average. Did he forget how to coach, did the game pass him by? Of course not. Give me a coach that is going to win more with Mac Jones at QB.

Mork- successful coach. Interesting that once talent pool lessened, so did his success.

Nearly all college coaches who have success in CFB that jump to NFL- do they just forget how to coach and all of a sudden suck?

The point is great coaches have great players. A lot of coaches could go to OSU and win. Ryan Day is not Urban Meyer, but he’s been very successful. He was a FG away from a National Championship. Had he won one does that all of a sudden make him, ‘an amazing coach?’

OSUs run of success against us was unprecedented in this rivalry. They’ve still won 15/19 games. I’m totally fine with Day sticking around, because it seems we’ve figured out how to beat him. It also coincides that this is the best offensive line/defensive line/QB combos we’ve had in 20+ years. Maybe he’s just getting beat by a better team.

-1 for me and +1 for you…

-1 for me and +1 for you because I did not actually listen to Klatt today. My post based off his comments during game, and just took what OP said about it being questionable.

Even if it happened in the…

Even if it happened in the open field, he has the ball pinned against his chest with 2 hands with a knee down ending the play, after establishing control- the 'act common to the game' of moving the ball from his outstretched arms to secure against his chest.

Wilson catches the ball at…

Wilson catches the ball at the 5 with two hands with R foot on the ground, touches his L foot down. Burke (#10) gets a hand on it and it *maybe* sightly moves, but Wilson now has it against his chest with 2 hands while his R foot is down around the 3, takes step with L, lunge with R and the L knee down while simultaneously breaking plane- play over.

I agree that had it been called INT- it would have stood also, but that's because college replay is consistently inconsistent.

We can agree to disagree and it's impossible to be unbiased as a Michigan fan, but I will die on the hill that Klatt is unnecessarily creating drama, including continuing to speak that it was 'questionable.'

He makes the catch at the 5,…

He makes the catch at the 5, takes multiple steps, football move by securing it against his body, and crosses the plane of the end zone.

Also surprised by how Klatt is trying to make this a controversy.

It's great to be a Michigan…

It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

One minor point: OSU has 52 wins. The 2010* victory 'technically' doesn't count, but the game was played, they beat us.

Vacated wins are an absolute joke of a punishment, from an NCAA that is an absolute joke of an organization.

The rest stands and it's so damn satisfying.

Edit: 2010 not 2012

There are certainly some DL…

There are certainly some DL recruits which would be nice to get back in the fold.

Have you watched Oregon play…

Have you watched Oregon play? They are legit. I think they are going to beat Washington and be in.

I think Bo Nix is a tough matchup for us and their WR speed. I think Washington is very good, but a better matchup, and would prefer to get them.

I can't imagine FSU being left out if they win out, but I do think they'd be #4.

The 2021 vote was well…

The 2021 vote was well discussed on this site since the beginning of this.

However it was also voted on in 2013 when a majority, but not enough to reach threshold for change voted to end the ban on in person scouting.

Vegas needs an upset this weekend, money is on Michigan. They would be plenty happy with some timely holding and PI calls going against us.

This is what worries me…

This is what worries me. Michigan needs to hire former refs to grade officials in the rest of our games to ensure we aren't getting completely jobbed by league officials.
