OSU RB Chip Trayanum enters Transfer Portal
I realize that Ohio State always has a lot of talent but they are losing a lot at RB if Henderson enters the NFL draft.

They have never been in this position so I don't expect them to act any differently. They have always gotten the breaks and all of a sudden they are staring down a third loss in a row to their rival and are actually trending to go into next year with The Game being a toss-up comparing the two teams and the talent/starters coming back. I get it that OSU has recruited at another level from Michigan but the performance gap is as tight as it has been for two decades and OSU doesn't know how handle it. Ryan Day is in a go for it all or it all comes collapsing down. Can you imagine what will happen if we win at their place next year? I also am starting to think Harbaugh is going to sign a longterm deal soon which will ignite the pressure even more. Go Blue!

colors are about right. rats always know first, down deep in the hold as the water starts to pour in....

There are some strange things going on for sure. If you want to go down the route that Day is actually looking around for an NFL gig (I don't believe that) then surely OSU is doing all their due diligence in keeping as many guys aware of what they will be doing regarding the next coach to keep some of these guys. If you are thinking, it's Ohio State and they will just plug in the next 5 star you are probably right but there are now starting to be leaders leaving this team that could have made a large impact on the 2024 team (we know all about what those types of leaders look like). My gut tells me this coaching staff is in complete disarray. I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to throw the kitchen at Harrison, Egbuka, Henderson, etc. to stay. I just don't see that happening. I think their bowl game will tell us a lot. If none of these guys play, they are all gone and OSU is in trouble unless they pick up some amazing portal players and score big on them. I am so thankful Michigan is finally in the drivers seat and OSU is scrambling because that is exactly what is happening. Go Blue!

They're not doing their normal due diligence because Gene Smith has the AD too distracted calling Pettiti about the security guard at Michigan that asked him to step back behind the line.

Even if Henderson does come back that's a running back room with basically one every-down guy and then some pieces for specific purposes.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:08 PM ^
Henderson had one good drive against us and that's about it. He's no threat.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:09 PM ^
And that one guy has a long injury history.
December 7th, 2023 at 6:35 AM ^
Dallan Hayden has looked pretty good from what I’ve seen of him. If they keep him and hold on to Henderson they should still be alright at the position, plus they’ll probably add a talented freshman or portal guy.
But hopefully Henderson goes to the League, Hayden demonstrates why he didn’t play in The Game, and they don’t bring in anybody special.
December 6th, 2023 at 8:39 PM ^
I get that OSU is awash with talent but this level of attrition just might strain that endless train of 5-stars.
December 6th, 2023 at 8:40 PM ^
Trayanum made a mistake going to OSU over Michigan. He would have been a phenomenal back in Michigan’s offense. I’m happy he made that decision because Mullings might not have ascended in the running back room the way that he did if he was stuck behind another back in addition to Corum and Edwards. The future is bright with Mullings and having a more crowded running back room might have slowed down his progress and maybe even thwarted it.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
Worst part is OSU only wanted him as an LB, even though he was explicitly looking for a place to play RB. He only got converted to RB after injuries last year.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:45 PM ^
I think Mullings has a Toby Gerhardt year next year.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:14 PM ^
Slow down there
December 7th, 2023 at 12:27 AM ^
Right …. Gerhardt had 1800 yards and like 27 TDs or some shit his senior year
December 6th, 2023 at 8:43 PM ^
Ryan Day is leaving … we just don’t know it yet
December 7th, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
With all that detail and specificity, you have the makings of a modern day "reporter".
December 7th, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
Its possible that Michigan broke Day, but with the playoffs being 12 teams next year I can see him getting 1 more shot.
December 6th, 2023 at 8:43 PM ^
I'm beginning to wonder if Ohio State football players are starting to not like Ryan Day and Ohio State fans like we do.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Hey now, I am a BIG Ryan Day fan!
December 6th, 2023 at 8:46 PM ^
Ohio people seem to think Henderson is coming back, although with his history of injuries, he'd be foolish to come back
December 6th, 2023 at 9:43 PM ^
Honestly I don’t see it with him. Dudes hyped up for sure maybe they could say the Samar thing about Donovan but I mean he did go for nearly 2 bills and had 2 tds against them in 22
December 6th, 2023 at 10:18 PM ^
It makes no sense for him to come back...and not saying that because he's at OSU.
I'm surprised by Chip, unless he really wants to play LB.
December 7th, 2023 at 9:31 AM ^
People said the same about Corum. If his NIL is good enough, why not come back. He has not shown NFL ability as of yet.
December 6th, 2023 at 8:47 PM ^
Don't judge their culture.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:05 PM ^
Bold of you to assume Ohio has culture.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:09 PM ^
Mostly the kind you treat with penicillin.
December 6th, 2023 at 8:59 PM ^
That makes what, a dozen Buckeyes in the portal now?
December 6th, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
Baker's dozen: 13
December 6th, 2023 at 9:00 PM ^
He was good but never healthy
December 6th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
Maybe they’re just going to forfeit the Cotton Bowl?
December 7th, 2023 at 9:16 AM ^
Mizzou now favored by 2.5
December 6th, 2023 at 9:06 PM ^
Ruh-roh Raggy
December 6th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
Most of their other portal entries were pretty meh but this one is noteworthy as Trayanum is pretty good. They'll be at worst half decent but assuming Henderson declares (and he should, even leaving out our fan bias) that's their top 3 RBs gone.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:20 PM ^
I wouldn’t say losing their starting QB to the portal is meh. They have lost some serious talent to the portal.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
It's All Over Now Baby Blue
December 6th, 2023 at 9:38 PM ^
And to think that Thirdus Basicus thought that he was going to be the one dismantling Michigan this year!
December 6th, 2023 at 9:51 PM ^
My Latin is poor and rusty, but I’m gonna take a stab and go with Basis Tertius. LS&A folks, help a frater out.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:41 PM ^
What do they call it?…copium? Bunch of that from Ohio about their entire offense being gone.
December 6th, 2023 at 9:46 PM ^
Why, oh why, oh why oh,
Did everybody leave Ohio…
December 6th, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
Way to Go Ohio...
December 6th, 2023 at 10:09 PM ^
Gee, that’s just too bad. Fuck the Sucknuts.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:10 PM ^
He caused us more problems that Henderson. I was glad they went away from him in the 4th quarter to go 3 and out.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:14 PM ^
And this is one of the reasons why Michigan had it rough all those years. No matter what you did, losing to OSU is brutal. And to follow up with a bowl loss is even worse.
Manufactured hate just for TV ratings.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:16 PM ^
He should've transferred to Michigan when he had the chance!
December 6th, 2023 at 10:28 PM ^
That’s a damn shame … well ok FUCK OIHO … nice to see the players waking up and leaving that cesspool
December 6th, 2023 at 10:35 PM ^
There's normal attrition for top teams, but this feels like something more. Either players are bailing or Day is telling people to leave to make room for portal guys
December 7th, 2023 at 8:11 AM ^
I’ve been enjoying the unhappiness at eleven warriors and according to some post on there they are still over their limit of players with all of this attrition. I think they said they are still over the limit with all of the people expected to go pro, but I could be making that up. The post basically said they needed to lose more people to bring in portal guys.
it looks like 90% of their starters will be new faces next year, but they’ll all be top 250 guys or blue chips. Lot of Cam Ward buzz too.
December 7th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Why not both?
Also maybe NIL opportunities/playing time in an offense more suited to one's style are much greater elsewhere. Anyway, if not for the CFP, we'd be seeing our fair share of portal entries at this time as well though obviously not our QB1. But if we land a certain high-profile QB transfer and perhaps other WRs or TEs, we could easily end up with an Orji or transfers, too.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:17 PM ^
Sucks to suck.
December 7th, 2023 at 12:35 AM ^
Has anyone at OSU ever thought that maybe it's not the players, but the coach?
