They have never been in this position so I don't expect them to act any differently.  They have always gotten the breaks and all of a sudden they are staring down a third loss in a row to their rival and are actually trending to go into next year with The Game being a toss-up comparing the two teams and the talent/starters coming back.  I get it that OSU has recruited at another level from Michigan but the performance gap is as tight as it has been for two decades and OSU doesn't know how handle it.  Ryan Day is in a go for it all or it all comes collapsing down.  Can you imagine what will happen if we win at their place next year?  I also am starting to think Harbaugh is going to sign a longterm deal soon which will ignite the pressure even more.  Go Blue!

There are some strange things going on for sure.  If you want to go down the route that Day is actually looking around for an NFL gig (I don't believe that) then surely OSU is doing all their due diligence in keeping as many guys aware of what they will be doing regarding the next coach to keep some of these guys.  If you are thinking, it's Ohio State and they will just plug in the next 5 star you are probably right but there are now starting to be leaders leaving this team that could have made a large impact on the 2024 team (we know all about what those types of leaders look like).  My gut tells me this coaching staff is in complete disarray.  I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to throw the kitchen at Harrison, Egbuka, Henderson, etc. to stay.  I just don't see that happening.  I think their bowl game will tell us a lot.  If none of these guys play, they are all gone and OSU is in trouble unless they pick up some amazing portal players and score big on them.  I am so thankful Michigan is finally in the drivers seat and OSU is scrambling because that is exactly what is happening.  Go Blue!

They're not doing their normal due diligence because Gene Smith has the AD too distracted calling Pettiti about the security guard at Michigan that asked him to step back behind the line.

Dallan Hayden has looked pretty good from what I’ve seen of him. If they keep him and hold on to Henderson they should still be alright at the position, plus they’ll probably add a talented freshman or portal guy.

But hopefully Henderson goes to the League, Hayden demonstrates why he didn’t play in The Game, and they don’t bring in anybody special.

Trayanum made a mistake going to OSU over Michigan. He would have been a phenomenal back in Michigan’s offense. I’m happy he made that decision because Mullings might not have ascended in the running back room the way that he did if he was stuck behind another back in addition to Corum and Edwards. The future is bright with Mullings and having a more crowded running back room might have slowed down his progress and maybe even thwarted it.

Most of their other portal entries were pretty meh but this one is noteworthy as Trayanum is pretty good.  They'll be at worst half decent but assuming Henderson declares (and he should, even leaving out our fan bias) that's their top 3 RBs gone.

And this is one of the reasons why Michigan had it rough all those years.  No matter what you did, losing to OSU is brutal.  And to follow up with a bowl loss is even worse.

Manufactured hate just for TV ratings.

There's normal attrition for top teams, but this feels like something more. Either players are bailing or Day is telling people to leave to make room for portal guys

I’ve been enjoying the unhappiness at eleven warriors and according to some post on there they are still over their limit of players with all of this attrition.  I think they said they are still over the limit with all of the people expected to go pro, but I could be making that up. The post basically said they needed to lose more people to bring in portal guys.

it looks like 90% of their starters will be new faces next year, but they’ll all be top 250 guys or blue chips. Lot of Cam Ward buzz too.

Why not both?

Also maybe NIL opportunities/playing time in an offense more suited to one's style are much greater elsewhere. Anyway, if not for the CFP, we'd be seeing our fair share of portal entries at this time as well though obviously not our QB1. But if we land a certain high-profile QB transfer and perhaps other WRs or TEs, we could easily end up with an Orji or transfers, too.
