Michigan in touch with Dante Moore
This would be a big pick up. Great for us and great that he doesn't go to someone else in the Big 10.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:44 PM ^
But if he's looking for guaranteed money up front, he won't end up at Michigan so it won't be a problem.
December 5th, 2023 at 8:14 PM ^
Dis you even read the post you are replying to:
Beyond that, he flipped from Oregon to UCLA when he found out Nix was coming back and he couldn't be qb1 in year 1. He went for early playing time that UCLA had
That is PLAYING TIME versus $$$.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:29 PM ^
Harbaugh only brought JJ in to run, as a freshman.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:04 PM ^
... aside from the 59 passing attempts, including key completions against MSU and OSU.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
eh I don't know if you can state this so unequivocally. Probably true, but you never know until you see.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:26 PM ^
I wouldn't want Davis as the starter as a FR.
Nor do I want Moore as the starter as a SO after last year's performance.
I'd take McCord over both of these dudes in 2024.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:42 PM ^
I haven't watched him at all so I have no opinion, but the graph Brian shared on Twitter yesterday of ESPN QBR vs. EPA/play for all P5 QBs was real rough. As in, Dante Moore was quite a bit lower than Katin Houser and Heinrich Haarberg. Like, better-than-only-Deacon-Hill bad.
I would just embed the image of it here but I can't figure out how to do that without the site timing out on me
December 5th, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
True freshman really suck at college football. News at 11.
The transcendent stars tend to do really well as RS FR. Not true FR.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
Uh, no. True freshman generally look really bad and limited. Moore wasn’t any worse than that.
Davis would look just as bad, if not worse, if he has to play as a true freshman.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:16 PM ^
I like how you say it like it’s a fact broad generality and all.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:41 PM ^
Because it is.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:14 PM ^
Trevor Lawrence played as a freshman Bryce Houngand Tua too. Point is statistically there might be a trend but it’s not always the case as you said. My problem is your absoluteness like you know more than everyone.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:17 PM ^
Played, but did not start until later in the season. Tua also didn’t start. He actually came on for Hurts in overtime. Both of those guys had incredible teams around them too. Not exactly a one for one comparison to Moore at UCLA.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:22 PM ^
Yeah I hear you just offering that there is a counterpoint.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:02 PM ^
Everyone knows it. People are saying it. Good people, the best people. /s
I actually agree with Salvatore. True freshman QB's generally suck. I don't remember and don't care enough to look up if Chad Henne was a true freshman or RS, but he might be the exception to the rule. Of course, he was on a really good team surrounded by talent, and the system they ran was pretty risk-averse. One wonders if Lloyd would have won another NC or two if it was just a bit more wide-open.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:27 PM ^
Henne was thrust into the starting role as a true freshman when Gutierrez was hurt.
December 5th, 2023 at 10:34 PM ^
He had 12 ints and we almost lost to SDSU and MSU...but he did give us Braylonfest so that was cool.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
I mean, it’s got to be tough to be a true freshman starting in comparison to the Stetson Bennett and Bo Nix’s if the world who are 23 y/o
December 5th, 2023 at 5:30 PM ^
Dr’s Nix and Bennett.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:13 PM ^
Anyone doubting Moore's talent go watch him vs San Diego State. 17-27 290 3-0. He's the #3 overall transfer for a reason. It would be a massive get for Michigan.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:26 PM ^
It’s extremely rare for a true freshman QB to succeed. Citing 1 or 2 freak exceptions doesn’t change this.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
I have to imagine that RB is one of if not the only place on the field where starting a true freshman isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Everywhere else, it’s anywhere from a “that may not a good sign” to a “holy shit we’re in the metric tons of trouble.”
December 5th, 2023 at 5:25 PM ^
So they were 4-2 with only losses coming against top 25 teams before he was benched. What is typical freshman bad to you? Maybe he looked less elite, but this was a strong year in the P12 and his numbers are freshman decent to me.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:20 PM ^
Would love it to say, "he is highly interested in them and that NIL will play zero factor for him."
December 5th, 2023 at 5:17 PM ^
Didn’t you already post this in another thread?
December 5th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
Repetition is the key to success.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:37 PM ^
say it again brutha
December 5th, 2023 at 6:18 PM ^
I'm afraid that meme is going to be used A LOT in the age of NIL that we now live in.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
Not holding breath when Miami is part of his consideration.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
But how in touch? Like “third base” touching?
December 5th, 2023 at 4:26 PM ^
Keep Ryan Day out of this
But "heavy petting" would seem to be the answer
December 6th, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
What's Mel Tucker have to do with this?
December 5th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Just over-the-pants and mouth stuff
December 5th, 2023 at 4:37 PM ^
That’s a good start, but it’s leaving me wanting Moore.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:04 PM ^
Lots of possibilities with an Orji on the team.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
Finding a spot where he can be developed or finding the right NIL package? Would rather have JJ & Orji, Daniels & Orji, then Underwood & Carter.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
Orji isn’t a QB. I don’t know why people think that he can be when he doesn’t throw the ball.
Moore is a five star talent. I’d much rather have him than Davis or Orji.
December 5th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
Orji is our MVP at the moment. He's playing Milroe on the scout team.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
I'll reserve judgement on the Moore vs. Davis debate only if and when Moore ends up here. And even then, I wouldn't sell Davis short in the competition from what we've seen of Moore at UCLA.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:43 PM ^
Moore was playing against college kids. Davis vs high schoolers.
Davis is Cade 2.0.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
I generally agree with what you've written about Moore here. And if the coaches want him, that's all I need to know.
But I've seen you compare Davis to Cade a couple of times now. Where do you get this from? I went back and reread Davis' "Hello" post and it doesn't read "Cade Redux" to me at all. It talks a lot about his ability to improvise, make plays on the run, etc. The arm strength might be similar, but that's about it as far as I could tell.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:20 PM ^
I’ve read that he isn’t great at improvising. 🤷♂️
December 5th, 2023 at 6:05 PM ^
Dude, give it a rest. All you do is say Dante is a 5* and Davis is another Cade. Dante did NOT play like a like 5*, and worse, certainly wasn't a 5* teammate. And I assure you, Davis is not another Cade, who calls Michigan "that other school." Don't disrespect him with that gross comp. BTW, did you even watch Dante play and see his demeanor? He was just that bad, not just performance wise but his attitude and behavior on the sideline. Obviously, I trust our coaches, but knowing what I saw, it's a hard pass. Rather have another experienced transfer to bridge the gap.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:17 PM ^
Agreed. Remember how the story was that OSU was silent going up the tunnel at half? And then two weeks later 11 players enter the portal? That's the locker room you get with 4/5* players who came in looking for a bag, instead of loving the game and the school. So far Dante reminds me more of the "out for me" mindset type of player that OSU has, not the "Team, theTteam, the Team" type of player that we have.
December 5th, 2023 at 7:24 PM ^
Davis is small and doesn’t have an elite arm or athleticism. Sounds like Cade to me.
Cade beat OSU and won the Big Ten in his first year as a starter. If you think that is insulting Davis then I don’t know what else to say to you. I see Davis with a similar ceiling.
Davis isn’t an elite prospect. Sorry that hurts your feelings.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:15 PM ^
Are you a member of moored family or something maybe stop crapping on a 17 year old.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
THIS...my real concern with Dante isn't just limited to his on field production, rather it's his attitude and demeanor. I've watched a lot of Dante this season, and there were several occasions, when thing went sideways, he seemed to pout, looked disinterested and isolated himself on the sideline That last game against Cal, he not only single handedly lost the game, but he basically gave up on his team. He did not want to be there. Freshmen or not, this is a major character flaw and poor leadership qualities that I hesitate to see in Ann Arbor as it could ruin our locker room.
December 5th, 2023 at 5:54 PM ^
Wait. You found a teenager who is pouting?
Trust the coaches. If they think they can develop him, let them give the kid an opportunity.
December 5th, 2023 at 6:11 PM ^

Is this just pouting?
