Well insurance companies could fucking start by covering it in people with symptoms regardless of age. Found it out the hard way today that it doesn't matter how bad, frequent or worrying your symptoms are, they will stick you with the whole bill regardless if you don't reach their age requirement. Luckily I can afford it, even if it sucks, but a lot of other people maybe couldn't.

Just had my first colonoscopy at age 46 about 5 months ago.  Procedure itself is nothing.  I watched the clock to see when I went out.  Last I remember it was 12:31 PM.  I awoke at 12:50 PM.  Worse parts of the prep are the hunger and the middle of the night shits.  Many worse things in life.

I have heard of a few different prep methods.  I was given 2 6 ounce bottles of Clenpiq.  Cranberry orange flavored.  Not bad all compared to the jugs I have heard others have to take.  At the end, they told me see you in 10 years so if you can get your screening, please do it!

The procedure itself is not bad. I slept through it and felt incredibly refreshed upon awakening. I normally don't sleep well and I can understand how Michael Jackson abused the drug.

No soreness after the procedure. OK, so the prep is inconvenient. Not terrible. If it can save you from a cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy, it's a cost/benefit winner.

You seem like the kind of guy who "does his own research."

Check out the conclusion in the cited study (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2208375):

In this randomized trial, the risk of colorectal cancer at 10 years was lower among participants who were invited to undergo screening colonoscopy than among those who were assigned to no screening.

I have no comment on the Sensible Medicine writers in whom you're placing lots of trust.

From a Daily article:

They go against each other nearly every day at practice. In their first year, they also came home to each other in their dorm room. Both are natives of Scottsdale, Ariz., and they played one year of high school football together in 2008.

Holy shit. I've been following him on IG for years. Great DL coaching tips for anyone playing the position or coaching it. Such a passion for coaching. I can't believe this.

GET. YOUR. COLON. CHECKED.

These things start as tiny polyps that they can remove just with the biopsy shit attached to the camera.  But at that stage they're asymptomatic, so you need to schedule these proactively.  By the time you feel anything, you're in big trouble.

And if you're worried about your dignity, I'll give you this:  When you're dying of colon cancer, at some point a caregiver is going to be half-carrying your skeletal, half-naked, not-yet-corpse out of bed to a fucking commode where you get to shit in the middle of the room with everyone watching because you're not strong enough to be left alone.  (Mom died of colon cancer.  There was nothing dignified about her end-of-life care.)

Like GoBlue96 says, it's not fun, but you know what's less fun?  Dying of colon cancer.

The problem is if you don't have a family history of colon cancer you likely aren't going to get one before 45.  They are an expensive procedure and insurance companies aren't going to give one to every person every 5-10 years beginning at age 30.  We have a family history of the disease and I pushed to get my first one as soon as possible.  I know very little about the alternative testing options but hopefully these become viable option so that every one can get tested accurately as young as possible.

Holy shit, he's got to be in his early 30s?  Im a little older but he was one of the first big time recruits I remember being pumped about when I started my sicko phase and following recruiting.

I had no idea he was sick.  Prayers for his family.

I will always be thankful to the Rich Rod/Hoke teams he played under as it was his spirit (undersized playing out of position and poorly utilized) that epitomized the only thing that got me through those years...besting ND.

I hope he was able to watch and take in M-2023.

I would like to see M play with the number 88 on the helmets or sleeves and discuss colon cancer awareness.

That's a gut punch. I loved his twitter account, which was loaded with instructional content for defensive lineman. All the little technique stuff that is very hard to notice but so important to playing the position. He was a great football mind.
