I saw him with Taylor Lewan at the Nebraska beat down.  The Man did not look sick.

I do Anesthesia and it’s the safest procedure to have done.  I had mine 2 years ago at 45, swam 800 meters before, ate then went to golf range.

My Grandpa died at 72 from colon cancer metastasizing all over.  The man worked at Ford for 40 years straight after WWII and never went to the doctor.

Colon cancer at 33?!  That’s nuts and incredibly sad.  Fellas, get your colonoscopy, although I don’t know if insurance would cover a screening as early as 30…

Aetna doesn't at least, nor do they cover even if you need it like I do because I have actual extreme pain, etc.  I am going to be out $2,000 from my call with them earlier, so that is fucking wonderful. Very cool that I have to eat almost the whole cost when I have actual symptoms that require it. Health insurance in this country is just grand and causes alot of people to put off things until it is too late.

Horrible news. Thought/prayers for the family.

I had a positive cologard test at 49.  Immediately scheduled a colonoscopy.  Thankfully they only found a couple of small benign polyps.

regarding prep, Chicken broth is your friend.

it’s considered a clear liquid and literally kept me from feeling like I was gonna starve.

Could be worse, you could be someone like me that actually has severe symptoms that are very worrying and now I have to eat the whole cost essentially because of the screening versus diagnostic thing. But yes the age threshold is ridiculously high based on the actual current stats of more people under 45 having serious issues. But we live in a country where essentially nothing is done for the benefit of the actual health insurance holder as the first consideration. Pretty much I was told today by Aetna to either fork over $2,000 on the 20th or you know just risk that my symptoms could be cancer, etc.

Here is a tip: if you go to a gastroenterologist and complain of any sort of ongoing digestive issue, they can get you an authorization for a colonoscopy even if you are under 50. I went down this route after experiencing some scary symptoms. I got the colonoscopy and it revealed something, but fortunately not cancer. Even if it is not cancer, there are many gastro conditions that can be revealed via a colonoscopy that require management and it may prevent developing cancer in the future.

Just had a colonoscopy in early October. Had about 8 inches of my colon removed in mid November. Please if your eligible have it done.

Geez.  This is so sad.  It's very hard to see such a wonderful young person like Craig pass away so young.  I just turned 65 and things like this make me feel so blessed to still be around.  Still, he leaves behind a 2 year old which makes me want to cry.  As Billy Joel sang, Only the Good Die Young.  It seems the truth here.  RIP Craig.  Enjoy Michigan's Valhalla.

The problem with colon cancer is you don't notice you have it. Once it is diagnosed, you are already at Stage 4 and it is too late. This is what happened to my father in-law 7 years ago, who otherwise was a healthy guy.  Get tested.

This is so sad.  Too young, far too young.

There’s been a lot of commentary here about the indignity of the prep and of the procedure and all that.  I’ve had two and I agree with those who observe that it is not that bad and certainly preferable to the alternative.

I had cancer surgery (not colon cancer) 11 months and 1 week ago and so I will go in for my 1-year blood work in about 3 weeks.  Although my case was more aggressive than anticipated, so far I am cancer free and I am exceptionally fortunate because we caught it super early.  My doc, who is a great guy, hadn’t planned on running the test but I insisted because family history.

You are CEO of your own life, so advocate for yourself when it comes to stuff like this.  Schedule the damn colonoscopy and drink the damn prep like you’re celebrating the wins against PSU, tOSU, Alabama and Washington with the best hooch ever.  Do it for yourself and for your loved ones.

Whoa! Gosh I am so saddened to hear that. He has to be in his low 30's I'd imagine. Kid had a lot of heart and played his butt off. My gosh, that is terrible.

I missed this. RIP. I sat next to you watching a Michigan hockey game once. I remember when you committed and was always a fan.
