OMG. He was very active on social media with D-line coaching tips/techniques. Too damn young. The amount of colon/colorectal cancer cases in the under-50 crowd is insane. I personally know four people who have had colon cancer, all were diagnosed in their 30s. Three of them are no longer with us. May he rest in peace and his family be comforted.

As someone who had stomach issues 6-7 years ago and had them looked at only to find nothing, and now having to go back to have them looked again because my pain level and frequency has shot up this is definitely not something I need to hear. Have a colonscopy and upper endoscopy scheduled for the 20th to hopefully rule out anything serious. I am only 35, but Roh was younger than me and others have said this type of cancer has just shot way up in younger people.

Thanks, the second part after hopefully ruling out anything serious is that I need an actual answer this time. I have tried my own things out over the years to see if it would help like eliminating certain things, eating healthy overall, working out every day, etc but nothing has seemed to make a difference.  Living with chronic pain has not been pleasant, though until recently I at least had some good days.

I was just thinking about him and all of the talented kids caught up in that mess of the early 2010s

This news really, really sucks. Had no idea Craig was battling cancer.  My 43 year old wife will celebrate 20 years of being (colon) cancer free on Friday. She did not ignore symptoms and it saved her life.  Colon cancer is not just a disease of the elderly

So sad to hear, way too young. Get your colonoscopies people! And do it sooner than you think you need to especially if you have any sort of family history. I just got my first one at 37 last week - it is honestly a piece of cake and there's no reason to delay.

I'm only 34 years old, but after seeing a former high school friend of mine just get diagnosed with colon cancer (thankfully not stage 4), and now hearing about Roh, that's all the convincing I need.

Time to go get a colonoscopy.

So incredibly sad.

please read this article and consider dietary changes (restrict red meat and fast food) even if you have "good genes":

A colonoscopy is really nothing as others have pointed out and yes on the incredible sleep that night.

RIP Craig, you were always an easy guy to root for.

I have my first colonoscopy scheduled for next month, I have no idea what any symptoms or concerning things would be so I have no expectations other than a mildly unpleasant medical experience.  Definitely more motivated now to just get it done.

Oh man this sucks. He was one of the few Michigan athletes I’d met. He reached out via LinkedIn many years ago when he was getting into tech and we connected and talked a couple of times.  Smart guy. RIP.

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 at 38, no family history.  Anyone commenting around the prep before a colonoscopy being bad needs to stop, it’s an 12 hr inconvenience and the procedure itself is painless.  Chemo, Radiation and Surgeries on the other hand weren’t easy.  While I am cancer free as of today, the toll from radiation has completely changed my stomach and day to day living.

long story short, get the colonoscopy as soon as you can and don’t worry about the prep at all.

I've had two family members pass away from colon cancer, so I got my first colonoscopy last year at age 39 (all good, thankfully), but Craig was diagnosed at 31. Unless he had a family history of EARLY onset colon cancer, no doctor would have recommended a colonoscopy for him at that age.

Just a tragedy all around...

I had a colonoscopy when I was 47 and it was clean as a whistle so I've been doing Cologuard since then, which is a minimal nuisance. Almost 12 years later, it's time to get another colonoscopy. Some insurance companies don't like to pay for another colonoscopy once you've moved to Cologuard unless there are symptoms, but I will insist this year, and if they won't pay for it, I'll pay for it myself (most hospitals will negotiate down the price but they don't want you to know that). Do whatever you need to do to stay on top of these things.

Honestly it's criminal that routine preventative tests aren't free, or at the very least billed at non marked up cost even if you don't have insurance without having to jump through a number of hoops that are designed to discourage people from getting them by bean counters that just want to keep hospital revenues up.

Don't get me started. My husband had one where his system wasn't adequately cleared out so the doc said he had to get another one and do a different kind of prep. He was cleared out for the second one but insurance wouldn't cover it because it was too soon after the previous one. So he negotiated down the price with the hospital but it was still like $4K - $5K. It's not as if he said, "I want another one just because."

Well as someone who was just told by Aetna today they essentially wouldn't cover anything because I have actual severe pain and it considered diagnostic that is even bigger BS. Both prevention and diagnostic when you actually have symptoms should be covered.

Yesterday I was just re-watching the bussin with the boys preseason interview from 2022 i think with Denard and Chris Bryant where Taylor was telling the story about how when Craig was roomed with him that Craig would pray for Taylor's salvation. I think I'm cursed. Every time I remember someone they end up dying not long after.
