CFB: Seven perfect teams - Will any teams fall this weekend?
The penultimate weekend of the season is upon us. Seven (7) teams have an unblemished record.
Which team(s) will fall from the ranks of the unbeaten this weekend? Here’s the list – and their opponent. The unbeatens are bolded with their AP ranking in parentheses.
- Georgia (1) at Tennessee (21)
- Michigan (2) at Maryland
- Ohio State (3) hosting Minnesota
- Florida State (4) hosting Alabama – this should be a great game. Oh, my mistake, that’s North Alabama
- Washington (5) at Oregon State (10)
- James Madison (18) hosting Appalachian State
- Liberty (25) hosting UMass
Since inquiring minds want to know – specifically, who else is on the schedule for these teams, here are the above noted unbeatens remaining opponents:
- Georgia: at Tennessee (21), and at Georgia Tech.
- Michigan: at Maryland, and Ohio State (3).
- Ohio State: Minnesota, and at Michigan (2).
- Florida State: North Alabama, and at Florida.
- Washington: at Oregon State (10), and Washington State.
- James Madison: Appalachian State, and at Coastal Carolina.
- Liberty: UMass, and at UTEP.

Oregon State could take down Washington
November 13th, 2023 at 8:37 AM ^
washington has had a really grueling stretch of 6 close games in a row. Would be really impressive to remain undefeated
November 13th, 2023 at 8:44 AM ^
Depending how it works out with other teams, I could see the Pac 12 getting two teams in. If Washington goes undefeated in the regular season and loses close to a one loss Oregon in the conference title game.....That's worthy of being included over a 1 loss OSU (whose only good wins would be @ND and PSU) that didn't even make their title game (although they would if they were in a non-division format like the Pac 12). In that case, Washington would have wins over Oregon and Oregon State (better duo than OSU's), plus wins against Utah and USC (two teams that would be undefeated against Big 10 West opponents).
November 13th, 2023 at 9:16 AM ^
Penix is my Heisman frontrunner. If they remain undefeated, he's going to win it. I think Oregon, however, is still a great team. Probably the best 1-loss team out there.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:27 AM ^
I'll bet you 1 dollar that Jayden Daniels will be the winner.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:40 AM ^
Daniels at LSU is putting up video game numbers, and Harrison jr. is also having quite the season at OSU. Those three, in my opinion, are neck and neck with one another and it’ll come down to whether daniels has two more high yardage, high TD games, or whether Penix leads Washington to an unbeaten pac12 championship, and how well Harrison jr does in the game.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:04 AM ^
I haven't seen Daniels play. Harrison is putting up crazy numbers despite having a mid QB. Without Harrison OSU loses to PSU and ND. Will Johnson and company will slow him down against us.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
Nobody on Bo Nix? If they beat UW in the championship game, he'll have a pretty good case. Daniels will have to continue putting up gaudy numbers the next few weeks (which is entirely possible) to get votes on a 3 loss team.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:11 AM ^
If Bo Nix wins out, yeah I will totally agree. I think if Oregon played FSU, they would beat them.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:17 AM ^
Texas would be first one loss team in based on win over Alabama.
Unless UM-Ohio is a squeaker.
Then the loser might get in.
Again.

I don't see any conference getting two this time around. Pretty good chance you have 5 conference champs with 1 or less loss. I don't see how you keep out any conference champ with 1 loss and take a runner up with 1 loss.
Ohio State - Michigan is going to be for all the marbles. Same with Alabama-Georgia and Washington-Oregon. Texas has to hope Florida State loses, and would be best served if Alabama beat Georgia.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:10 AM ^
In this final year of the 4 team playoff, it would be great to see the purity of the remaining 4 undefeated P5 teams: Michigan, Georgia, Washington and FSU.
November 13th, 2023 at 11:14 AM ^
Texas' win over 'Bama is looking better and better each week. 'Bama is starting to look like a contender. 'Bama vs Georgia is going to be a very good game.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:40 AM ^
Some serious chaos would need to happen to get 2 Pac12 teams in. Two spots are very likely taken by a B1G and SEC team, then you've still got FSU, Alabama, and Texas out there.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:45 AM ^
Washington coming off this "perfect" board is a big deal for the two remaining B1G schools.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:50 AM ^
Throw in an FSU loss and things start looking really good.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:07 AM ^
Sounds bad to me. UM needs to take care of business at home against OSU & OSU can be the ones locked out of the playoffs by unbeaten UW & FSU
November 13th, 2023 at 10:22 AM ^
This is the only game of the seven that realistically could see an undefeated fall.
While Tennessee could get their act together, Georgia's really clicking so I just don't see that one happening.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:35 AM ^
Wish we could play a team like North Alabama to tune up for OSU.
<sees November Maryland>
Oh, wait, we do. Nevermind.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:17 AM ^
It's actually kind of perfect. Maryland is OSU-lite.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:16 AM ^
Nonsense, Taulia is at least twice as good as Honda McCord
November 13th, 2023 at 8:41 AM ^
Florida could be a problem with FSU. Miami is hot garbage and if their QB doesn't get hurt, may have taken it to OT at least.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:09 AM ^
Florida stinks, they wont be a problem
November 13th, 2023 at 8:46 AM ^
The Georgia-Tennessee game, at the beginning of the year, looked really intriguing and maybe like a possible loss for Georgia. Was the only true "road game" and truly hostile environment Georgia was going to be in all year. I'm sure the crowd will still be that way at kickoff, but now, the only question is how badly will Tennessee get stuffed into a locker?
That's got a 49-7 beatdown written all over it.
I suppose Washington could stumble and is certainly the most likely one, but I'll bet they eek it out and keep marching along to the Pac 12 title game. I'll bet Oregon gets revenge on them at that point in time.
OSU ain't losing, and Michigan is not, either. Harbaugh or no Harbaugh, we are in full November Maryland right now. Even Josh Gattis throwing the kitchen sink at Michigan will not be enough to stop Michigan from bulldozing this Maryland team into a fine paste. This is going to be a pseudo-Michigan home game, anyway. I'd bet the crowd is easily 50-50
November 13th, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
Joe Milton has been regressing to the mean.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:01 AM ^
They'll get stuffed into the locker so far they will discover Narnia...
November 13th, 2023 at 1:20 PM ^
I still can't believe that UGA UT game is only at 10 points. It hasn't moved all day. UGA rolling and UT is a dumpster fire. Make it make sense.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
I think Oregon State beats Washington, App. State takes down James Madison and Minnesota beats OSU just because I cannot stand those crying bitches in Columbus, OH.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:52 AM ^
Minnesota fans have to be pulling their hair out about this year’s team. The division title was right there for them, despite everything, and they noped on it. That boat ain’t rowing no more.
November 13th, 2023 at 8:53 AM ^
- Florida State (4) hosting Alabama – this should be a great game. Oh, my mistake, that’s North Alabama
LOL. Yeah, it's SEC/ACC vacation week. I hope NMST beats Auburn. Only chance I see is Oregon State over Washington. Although they were decent at the beginning of the season, the Washington D has turned "Pac-12" in a hurry.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:29 AM ^
Yeah, it's SEC/ACC vacation week.
Correct, this week is ChickenShit Saturday™ in the SEC.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:43 AM ^
Chuck, I’ll share more details on this week’s schedule either later today or tomorrow. But, you are correct.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:45 AM ^
Crazy FSU has 2 straight non-conf. games to end their season
November 13th, 2023 at 9:01 AM ^
Most likely to lose: Washington (but still heavily favored-- they're rolling)
Maybe: James Madison, Georgia (but the bloom is well off of Tennessee's rose)
No chance: Michigan, Ohio State, Florida St, Liberty
November 13th, 2023 at 9:03 AM ^
Just the imperfect ones
November 13th, 2023 at 9:11 AM ^
Michigan will not.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:42 AM ^
Washington has been playing with fire for a while now and I think this is the week it will finally burn them. Oregon State beats Washington, everyone else wins.
My current playoff projections (with seeding):
- Georgia (13-0)
- Michigan (13-0)
- Florida State (13-0)
- Oregon (12-1)
November 13th, 2023 at 9:56 AM ^
Put a gun to my head and I'd say the same, and even same order. I think Michigan and OSU are so evenly matched right now it could be either of us in that second slot.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:01 AM ^
Yeah no, #6 Oregon beating #5 Wash moves them up one.
#1 OSU losing to #3 Michigan also swaps so Oregon is not going to CFP.
Unless the bottom 2 of #3 Michigan or #4 Florida State lose, Pac 10 not getting in.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:18 AM ^
Neither Michigan nor OSU have notably better SOS or marquee wins compared to UO/UW to justify them being a better team, so a 1-loss conference champion will probably get in over a 1-loss non-champion.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
The CFP will highly value a 1 loss conference champion over a 1 loss non-division winner.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:46 AM ^
If everyone wins except Georgia loses close one at Tenn., where do you drop Georgia to?
A one loss Georgia in the middle of the season would still stay in top 4 regardless of undefeated others...but at end of season?
Especially if they then bury Alabama in SEC championship.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:57 AM ^
Did you watch any of the Mizzou-UT game? Georgia ain't losing to UT.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:49 AM ^
I hate HATE HATE the feeling I have... but it appears to me that, right now, Alabama can beat every one of these teams. And probably will beat 3 of them (or 2 of them, one of them twice) before the season ends. I really hope I'm wrong about that but... I have seen this movie before and am already hating it before it ends. Pretty much like any of the last four or five X-Men movies.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:51 AM ^
Washington is the most likely to lose, but should eke out a win, IMO.
James Madison is going to go unbeaten and the NCAA will still not let them go to a bowl game. I kinda feel for those players and fans. Even though they aren’t cfp worthy, they should still be allowed a NY6 bowl game.
November 13th, 2023 at 9:53 AM ^
Georgia and Washington both losing
November 13th, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
Washington has been playing with fire. I think the Beavers are going to burn them.
November 13th, 2023 at 10:05 AM ^
Last week I felt that there was a very good chance 2 teams would fall. The top teams however all prevailed. This week, the only game that I think could be interesting is Washington (who has been playing it close the last few weeks) travelling to Corvallis.
Georgia handles Tennessee and we and OSU trounce our opponents in preparation for ARMAGEDDON III
November 13th, 2023 at 10:10 AM ^
I am really wondering what will happen in this scenario:
Michigan/OSU go 13-0 B1G Champs. Lock.
Alabama beats UGA in the SEC Championship. Alabama Lock.
What happens if Washington and Florida St go undefeated and are conference champs. Will the committee have the guts to leave out non conference champ and 2x defending champ Georgia? All basic knowledge says it's a no-brainer but will ESecPN have something to say about that?
