Will Michigan break the record for players drafted in a single year?
The record is 15 by Georgia in 2022. I say yes. JH will push us over if needed. Here is who I got. This puts us at 16. Anyone here not getting drafted? Anyone im missing? Correct me where I am wrong.
McCarthy
Wilson
Corum
Mikey
Zinter
Barrett
Wallace
McGregor
Jenkins
Colson
Nugent
Barnhardt
Keegan
Jones
Barner
Johnson

Henderson should get selected. Day 2 or 3 pick, I'd think.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:45 PM ^
Henderson is getting some negative reviews at the Senior Bowl.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:03 PM ^
He'll get drafted for his arm length if nothing else.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:24 PM ^
You know what they say about long arms....
February 1st, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
They need tailored shirts?
February 1st, 2024 at 1:25 PM ^
Wasn't he considered draftable last year before transferring to Michigan?
February 1st, 2024 at 4:21 PM ^
I believe that was the case.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
I think Henderson and Barhart are the two least likely to get drafted.
February 1st, 2024 at 3:09 PM ^
Jim will draft them with his last picks if necessary.
Some have said the only reason Jim went to the Chargers was so he could prove himself right when he said Michigan would have 21 picks.

I think Barnhardt, Jones and Johnson will not get drafted. Hopefully I am wrong.
Wallace is borderline, but everyone else will/should get drafted.
I also forgot about He Henderson. He should get drafted as the above said.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:54 PM ^
I think Barnhart and Jones pulling ability coupled with size will get them drafted late. Trente may be used as a tackle but not Barnhart. Johnson I think not but Henderson likely gets picked as he can be coached up.
Agree on everyone else but Johnson who may sign as a FA.

It feels like as long as Johnson runs well at the Combine he gets drafted
February 1st, 2024 at 1:37 PM ^
Does Barnhart project to playing center in the NFL? Seems like his mobility and intelligence would be key traits for a center. He obviously never played center at Michigan so perhaps he sticks at guard.
February 1st, 2024 at 3:16 PM ^
Barnhart is going to be a STEAL for someone in the 6th or 7th rd. Guy can play either Guard position or Center and can start for a team at any of those positions IMO.
My buddy is a Giants fan and says they need help at the interior OL positions. Barnhart would be a steal for them in the last two rounds.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:55 PM ^
Trente will absolutely get drafted.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:41 PM ^
Wallace is the big wild card there. Will come down to the very last round I bet. Going to be interesting to see that many picks without even being sure of a first rounder.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
I think Zinter would have been a first rounder if he hadn't gotten hurt, but I get your point. JJ is also a big wild card, could go pretty high, could slip surprisingly far.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
Not sure about first round just because of his position. But otherwise he's a first round talent imo.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
I'll be surprised if JJ doesn't go in the first round. His mobility and intangibles are going to help him. Also, first rounders have the 5th year option in their rookie contracts. If he needs a year or so of seasoning behind an established starter, that could be a factor as well.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
Yeah, I don't recall a QB, at least not in recent memory, who had such a wide variance on where people thought he'd get drafted. Some say he'll be near top-10 and go to the Vikings or the Seahawks, while others are LOL third round. I think even Malik Willis from a few years ago was essentially thought of as a near consensus first rounder, and he was always going to be a massive project.
Depends on how he performs at the Combine, and then if he rocks the Combine, is there a team that's willing to take a gamble on him and not really care that he only had to throw ~15-20 times a game at Michigan. Because his attempts will likely double in the NFL.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:19 PM ^
I think JJ will definitely end up in the first round once scouts and GMs actually look at the tape versus just the fact he didn't have a ton of pass attempts.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:23 PM ^
I saw a mock draft last week that had Zinter going to the Lions in the 3rd. Love to see that happen.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:09 PM ^
I saw an article where someone did mvps for each team. Selected onwenu for the patriots. Saw a different article that talked about key free agents on different teams. Onwenu was one. Lions should try to get him.
February 1st, 2024 at 3:20 PM ^
JJ is going to be a top 10 overall pick IMO. NFL teams have no idea about his arm strength or overall athleticism at this point simply because Michigan didn’t have to use him that way.
Once they meet him, find out how smart he is, how well he knows the game, knows how the win and they see up-close all of the athleticism. Top 10 pick, I’ve been saying it since last offseason.
Michigan colored glasses aside, I would take him over any QB not named Caleb Williams.
February 3rd, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
Can JJ throw the deep ball consistently on target? I know Michigan didn’t throw many verticals, but when they did I didn’t see JJ dropping them in the bucket ala Penix.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:41 PM ^
I think it'll hinge on Wallace and Nugent. Those 2, to me, are the most borderline UDFAs of the group. I think everyone else is a lock to be drafted.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
I hope they do but I don’t believe they will. If Rod Moore and Makari Paige left early then I think it would be broken. Happy they’re coming back, but would’ve been cool to set the draft record.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
Ledarius might slide back inside to guard and I think he'll be selected.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:44 PM ^
Wallace, Barnhardt, and Barrett are the only borderline draft picks I see on this list. Wallace and Barnhardt due to athletic limitations, Barrett due simply to size. I think Barrett has the tape to make up for it, but it will be close.
Wallace and Barnhardt need good combines to ensure they get drafted. They don't need to blow anyone away, but they need to not run bad 40s (as an example).
edit: forgot about Nugent, he needs a decent combine too
February 1st, 2024 at 12:50 PM ^
Isn't Karsen Barnhart considered pretty athletic for a guard and/or center?
February 1st, 2024 at 1:47 PM ^
Yeah I don't know why that slipped my mind. He can't hack it at tackle but he's a fine guard. Especially as a reserve.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:34 PM ^
Yeah, he was just playing out of position all year. When he moved to G after Zinter's injury, he did much better. I'm sure NFL scouts noticed. They'll just be smart enough to play him on the interior.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:56 PM ^
I feel like as long as Barrett runs ok he gets drafted for sure. He's got great PFF numbers and great tape.
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:00 PM ^
I think Barrett is honestly pretty safe given that he is also an asset in coverage. Given how pass happy the NFL is nowadays I feel his versatility in that aspect is a huge plus and that in the modern NFL this is valued more than just raw size.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:44 PM ^
I think the draft decision returnees (Moore, Paige, Edwards, Stewart) stop Michigan from breaking the record.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:49 PM ^
how selfish of them...... wait, j/k
February 1st, 2024 at 12:52 PM ^
Barret may take a position as head of the United Nations so we'll see
February 1st, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
Surely he can commute between there and the Meadowlands.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:00 PM ^
Can a person be head of the UN as well as President of the United States? There is an election in November.
February 1st, 2024 at 3:04 PM ^
Barrett was here a long time, but not quite long enough to get past the presidential age requirement.
February 1st, 2024 at 6:08 PM ^
I hear he’s too busy negotiating the peace with the aliens
February 1st, 2024 at 12:52 PM ^
I suppose James Turner might also have a chance?
February 1st, 2024 at 12:55 PM ^
Everyone thinks Wallace is not CB who will be selected. He rated as one of the best CBs in college last year by PFF. I think he is going to be selected for sure plus he played pretty well against the best WRs we faced.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:57 PM ^
He's just got to run well at the combine and he's probably draftable.
February 1st, 2024 at 3:43 PM ^
I believe Wallace was the last piece we acquired to complete the national championship puzzle. Made 2 key 3rd down stops against Alabama.
February 1st, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
And that fumble recovery in the 3rd quarter.
February 1st, 2024 at 12:57 PM ^
Won't be broken this year. I'm not so sure Wallace, Barrett or Jones get drafted. I could also see CJ go undrafted too.
Not sure why Jim would draft one of his former players just for shits and giggles.
February 1st, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
I think Trente is a lock. He's not a high pick because of a lack of experience but you know someone is taking a flyer on that athletic ability.
February 1st, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
NFL teams have (I think) ~150 employees. That means 4,800 football people employed. Many of them are Michigan folks -- heck, 3 of them are Harbaughs! Surely a few of them will have either seen Trente, or listened to the MGoPodcast, (or have lined up against him in practice) and will put someone in the scouting department on to him. I don't think a guy who started the last 3 games for the NATIONAL CHAMPION MICHIGAN WOLVERINES will fly under the radar for lack of playing time.
I think Michael Barrett gets drafted in a late round as an LB flyer / special teams lock.
NFL drafts CBs based on stopwatch time, and I'm not sure Wallace will make the cut.
