Safety recruiting has been interesting to me this year since I've felt like there aren't that many elite guys to go around. Michigan's board has been pretty small which is understandable given their last two years, but this post finally made me look at the 247Composite over the last few years and confirm my suspicions.
2021: 22 4-stars, 10 top 200, 3 top 100
2020: 33 4-stars, 17 top 200, 6 top 100
2019: 30 4-stars, 17 top 200, 8 top 100
2018: 25 4-stars, 18 top 200, 8 top 100
2017: 24 4-stars, 19 top 200, 13(!) top 100
There are obviously some caveats since 2021 is only about halfway over and more kids will be discovered. Plus guys like McMillon (top 150 to 247) and Rod Moore I think will end up as 4-stars on the composite. But overall, there is definitely a dearth in safety talent this year, especially at the top.
This is such a sensational title. The body is at least more reasonable saying that it had a negative effect on Payne, but let's not act like he was gift wrapped to Michigan at some point in his recruitment. The Belleville stuff started with Dobbs and Barnett in 2019, so this rift didn't suddenly come in and interrupt Payne's recruitment with Michigan.
Lorenzo Styles, Xavier Worthy, Jayden Thomas, Cristian Dixon, J. Michael Sturdivant, Thomas Fidone, AJ Green, and Prophet Brown aren't good enough for you at the skill positions? How many four-stars is enough to be satisfied?
And that's after you hand-waved Edwards and the three top-100ish OL that Michigan is in with. The offense will be fine
I bet you didn't have dozens of schools offering the chance to attend for free and fighting to make themselves look the best, though. Might make the decision a bit tougher
It's funny though, as soon as Urban Meyer took OSU's recruiting national, the amount of Ohio players has been decreasing and they're just getting better. Recruiting players from Ohio is not some secret sauce that will beat OSU
Well, El-Hadi is already in the class. Michigan has big leads for Colson and Kendall according to insiders and are deciding this month so there's three right there without even getting to the instate guys like Edwards, Spindler, and Benny.
Dellinger has also been receiving a lot of attention lately and still hasn't committed to LSU afte receiving a huge run of Crystal Balls, which only means good things for Michigan.
Not to mention Fidone, who Michigan is a close second to without even having him on campus yet. And Michigan probably even has a better shot with Somerville who just said that they will be getting his first official visit when he can take them.
I didn't even include Corey Kiner before who is also in the top 200 and who is basically down to Michigan and Louisville.
But you keep on being miserable and pretending that you're being "objective" when really you're letting your emotion cloud the facts.

My god, Bush was 30 spots away from being a 3-star on the composite, that is extremely borderline. It is legit psychotic that you cannot concede literally one inch of ground on your arguments. When DPJ and Rashan Gary don't live up to their ranking, you have a litany of excuses. But you just absolutely cannot accept that Ronnie Bell might be better than his ranking suggests.
Another quick question. When someone blocked you on Twitter today, you called them a "pussy." Yet you frequently block people that you get into arguments with (which is all you do on that site). So when you block someone else, what does that make you?

Jay Harbaugh has been the RBs coach since 2017, so the last three years. In 2018 he coached Higdon to the first 1,000 yard season at Michigan since 2011 and was six yards away from doing it the year prior. On the trail, his evaluations have proven to be excellent, with Hassan Haskins turning from a nondescript 3-star to a co-starter, and having Charbonnet break the freshman TD record. He landed Charbonnet from across the country and watched him blow up to become a top-50 player. Blake Corum has had a similar ascent in the rankings and Harbaugh held off a strong OSU push to keep him in the class. You can say that there hasn't been talent in the RB room these past few years, but next year it will be loaded and Jay Harbaugh is the main factor for that.
Harbaugh is visiting Giovanni El-Hadi and a bunch of other four-star OL in the state today, so Edwards will have holes to run through at Michigan. Shocking, but he can't visit every target on their board in one day, no matter how much people want him to grind like James Franklin or whatever.
