I’m thinking they take 3 or 4 in this class because they only took 2 last year. Main targets remaining would be 4⭐️ Xavier Worthy and 4⭐️ Jaydon Thomas. There will always be a spot in the class for Worthy as he’s always been the main target for Gattis. I’m not so sure about Thomas though as there’s been some interest from the staff but I’m not so sure how hard they’re pushing for him.

The Harbaugh can’t recruit narrative is just bullshit.

edit.  Classy video btw.  Michigan seems to consistently get the types of kids that not only have talent but seem like the types of kids that have good character and personality.  They just seem like good dudes.

OSU is recruiting at an unprecedented level, no doubt. But you don't have to be recruiting the best to win a title. You have to be recruiting very well to win a title for sure. But our recruiting is very close to where Clemson's was when they won their first title and where LSU's was leading up to their title last year. The difference is they both had extremely good QBs lead a very talented team to the championship.

with saban so long in the tooth (old), it occurs that some serious and legit negative recruiting can be used against him - he's old.  now the bag men can make up a bunch of that, but don't be surprised if their recruiting is merely 'unbelievable' as opposed to you 'you gotta be kidding me'.

There were multiple posts, articles, and comments just a few months ago during the influx of defensive recruits from the NE full of people saying Michigan's recruiting is broken. 247's director of recruiting (Wiltfong) went on a radio show and called out Michigan's recruiting strategy. Mangus over on his site made comments in the same direction. People have called Harbaugh lazy (mostly Maizen) and disinterested in recruiting saying he isn't on the phone with top guys enough or site comments like "Harbaugh has been more involved in player X's recruitment and been on the phone more."

To play devil's advocate, Kerry Coombs wasn't hired until January 20th and he's currently the 3rd-ranked national recruiter according to 247. I know he was a re-hire, but he was gone for two years, thus having no existing relationships with recruits, and had to spend his first couple weeks securing the commitment of Cam Martinez.

That's all fine and good, but I never remotely implied that this commitment did that. However, the initial narrative was a false premise anyways.

Michigan's recruiting hasn't been otherworldly. Complete agree. They have missed on some guys and that has hurt the program in the long run. It also hasn't been a dumpster fire that some people claim it to be. And it's certainly not because Harbaugh is sitting on his couch watching TV instead of calling recruits.

It would be awesome if every single recruiting hello didn't have to turn into a thread about how Harbaugh (or Hoke, RichRod, and late Carr) can't beat/out-recruit OSU.  He seems like a good kid who's a talented football player and wants to come to Michigan.  Talk about the kid.  Goodness knows there will be enough other posts to raise our collective inferiority complex.

Right now, nobody in the country is recruiting at OSU's level and it is not even close.

Of course, I understand why they are blowing the B1G out of the water in terms of recruiting based on winning and NFL draft record but it is not clear how they are so far ahead of the Clemson / Georgia / Alabama / LSU tier.  Those teams have done more in terms of the playoffs and approx equal when it comes to the draft.

Sure, the bag man, but those other schools are deploying their "resources" as well.

No clue.

He can recruit. He's signed plenty of blue-chip guys since he's been here, and he's certainly found/coached plenty of under-the-radar guys who have now been given shots in the NFL. Winovich was a third rounder, Uche a second rounder, Paye could certainly work himself into the middle rounds next year with a great season. So he can find talent.

The narrative is that he can't win the one game that matters. The one game that, if you win, brings you the national respect you're currently lacking. The Big Ten title, the playoff. And that narrative, as of today, is 100% factual.

It's not only "The Game", but it expands to several other aspects of the program.  Michigan has looked woefully underprepared in road games, which results in slow starts and large deficits.  Bowl games have been duds.  QB is less than stellar. Lack of development of highly recruited players. Game management. So on and so forth.

Is Harbaugh an elite recruiter? Eh...I truly don't know.  He's brought in some pretty good talent, that's for sure, but a large portion of his classes is weighed down by average 3* players.

Agree.   Michigan has had enough talent to compete at least for the Big Ten title and should have beaten OSU at least once, or maybe twice under Harbaugh.  And Harbaugh's teams have gotten embarassed in recent bowl games, and normally lose against top 10 or 20 teams on the road.  It's more a coaching problem right now to me than a talent one.  Until he starts getting more out of the players he has AND can consistently put them in a better position to win, we're going to continue to see 9-3 seasons.  Maybe that's good enough for some programs.  But for the money Michigan is paying him, it's very debatable.

As others have said, it's The Game, it's bad performances on the road against quality teams. But it's also not dominating the PSUs and Wisconsins as Lloyd and Bo did. It's questionable strategies and in-game -- especially EOH -- coaching. It's not finding and/or coaching up elite QBs at M.

In any case, I agree with the sentiment that we would be positive about recruits. This is a good pull, and I hope he shines.

Awesome news. If we can get Worthy and Edwards, this is an incredible offensive skill haul.  O-line already looks great too.

Add spindles and rooks and the class closes really, really well.
