You forgot Ohio. Harbaugh and his staff need to beat their heads against the wall in that state to the point of exhaustion and then settle for the run-off OSU spurned (which would be similar to the end result they'd get with 19% of the effort).

Then, the 3-star Ohioans with their extra motivation to beat OSU will overcome the talent gap and lead us to victory.

Something like that.

I do think we should pay attention to Ohio and recruit there. Expectations should be realistic while OSU is rolling.

You realize this kid would be the, checks notes, 15th highest rated commit in OSU's class right? Not sure what that has to do with UM missing out on way too many in-state kids that they should be landing. You going to be saying "but but but Belleville" when OSU gashes us for 350 yards rushing again because we didn't recruit Damon Payne. That's what I thought.

Michigan DID recruit Payne. Payne is just a kid that is adamant that he wants to leave the state. Michigan saw this and it’s not worth the staff’s time or resources to continue to pursue a kid that doesn’t want to go to your school.

Are we REALLY to the point where we’re going to bash the staff for not continuing to recruit a kid who has flat out said he has no interest in going to Michigan?

The Belleville thing hurts...they've got talent that won't come to Michigan.

Some can be replaced (i.e. Jamari Budden), some can't.

But not keeping a fence around Michigan DOES hurt. That's what you all who tease don't get. Because these kids go to teams in our league! It's part of the reason MSU got good during the RichRod era.

If we miss out on a kid from TN, he probably goes to an SEC school. A kid from FL probably goes a FL or GA school.

You keep letting these kids from Michigan go and they're going to PSU, MSU, Iowa, etc.

It's not the end of the world, one kid won't make a difference, but it does matter over time.

The last thing I'll say on this right now is...also some of the panic is that Michigan's board is VERY thin.

If they hit on everyone. That's GREAT! We'll all be happy. But Michigan takes lower rated guys super early when they could get the same kid late if they swing and miss on a bigger prospect.

But also, they don't have the sheer numbers/options that our rivals seem to have.

Michigan HAD to get Colson and Hood and it looks like they're going to get both. That's GREAT!

People (myself included) just get nervous when it feels like all the eggs are in one basket. But if we hit, hey...that's all that matters.

I did a piece on this thought process recently (LINK). You say guys are going within the conference and are hurting Michigan, but that's simply not the case. Reggie Pearson was the only in-state guy who started for a team that beat Michigan in 2019. Theo Day, Elijah Collins, Cody White, and Antjuan Simmons didn't hurt Michigan much. David Reese went to Florida. Dez Fitzpatrick went to Louisville.

Reggie Pearson was the #49 safety, #686 overall, and #16 player within the state in 2018.

Michigan is getting the vast majority of players who excel from the State of Michigan: Ambry Thomas, Lavert Hill, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Michael Onwenu, Aidan Hutchinson, Jalen Mayfield, etc.

Does this address the Rich Rod era? Because I specifically mentioned that.

You're talking about guys Harbaugh recruited and he was recruiting in-state heavily early on. Going to SBSM (or whatever its called), he had his satellite camps.

It wasn't until this year and last year where that's seemed to fall off and those guys are freshman, were supposed to play this year or they're in high school.

I specifically said Rich Rod and the rise of MSU. MSU sucks now...and I think partially thats because Hoke then Harbaugh started to shut off the state. PSU got guys like Hamler.

Cass Tech was like our Glenville. It was a damn near lock.

In 2009 MSU got 3 out of 4 top players in the state. 7 out of the top 10. Michigan got #2 and #7.

In 2010 MSU again gets the top player in the state. Michigan gets ONE player in the top 10.

2011 top player goes to Tennessee, MSU gets #2 and 3 in the top 10. Michigan gets 2.

By the 2012 class Brady Hoke is in full effect.

...Michigan doesn't get the top kid but gets 8 of the top 12!

And just like that Michigan starts getting closer to MSU and eventually starts to pull away.

MSU used to be an L preseason, then it was a toss up...now it's a clear W. We took away their base. Hoke stared it and Harbaugh finished it.

2013 Michigan gets the top 2, 5 out of 10. And off we go.

I'm not going to say it IS the reason but I absolutely think it played a big part. We could've gotten someone with the career of Onwenu elsewhere in the country. Solid career.

But if we did that, Onwenu goes to Michigan St and now we're not going against some guy who could barely sniff Michigan's second team. That made a difference, IMO.

It wasn't the difference makers, as in one player, per se. It was the collective. Pissed off average Michigan players now at MSU can beat Michigan. And that's what happened.

And if I don't provide supporting DATA, you would just complain about that.

The reason the post is so long is because I went year by year in 247 and found the data to support what I was saying.

Next time you could just not respond if it's too long. Especially when it's clear you didn't read it to begin with.

But but but “Trust in Harbs” but but but “if the coaches want a no name 3 star it is good enough for me” but but but “when Harbs beats OSU in year 9 what will the haters say then” but but but “0 Big Ten Titles, 0 championships, 0 wins vs OSU, 1 bowl win, the 2 worst losses in the OSU rivalry history, Who has it better than us!”

Mgotakedown... what is your weight class lineup for the good guys this year assuming we have a season? Here is my best guess:

125: McHenry/Medley (NCAA qualifier)

133: Micic (Top 3)

141: Silva (Blood round)

149: Storr (Blood round)

157: Lewan (AA)

165: C Amine (Qualifier)

174: Massa (Top 4)

184: M Amine (Champ)

197: Garcia? (no qualifier)

285: Parris (Top 2)

Thoughts?

Fair, and normally would look at a lineup similar to this in any sport and think you have the most elite lineup or close to it in the country, and an embarrassment of riches. Sadly, this is only on the top few of our conference! So much good effing wrestling inside the B1G. Every meet or tournament is like watching the NCAA tourney

I was walking my dog one night when a small white dog (think Maltese) ran up to me and my daughter. I saw a hulking figure about 50 yards from me yelling "Zeus!". I was intimidated by the sheer magnitude of the person in front of me and could not see his face. Luckily, the man who approached me was as kind and gentle as any person I have ever met. Though he crushed my hand when we shook, I immediately realized it was Mike Martin. Very nice guy in real life.

Kid comes from St. Thomas Aquinas. Where both the Bosa kids among many other top flight players came from. I think Rudock came from there too.

If nothing else you know this kid faces the best competition week in and week out. And he plays with the best.

Highly accomplished wrestler listed at 212 for junior year of football, wrestled at 195 sophomore year. Curious what he would have wrestled at as a Junior. Just tells me he has mostly all good weight on with a bit of room to trim and add more. Between Hood and Colson, I’m about as excited as I was for the class that brought in Anthony and Singleton

Michigan's punter is NOT the lowest rated commit in this year's class.  Either he's a really good punter or TrUsT tHe CoAcHeS!
