Because his is the most…

Because his is the most famous name, especially among Michigan fans? I mean if you’re hiring a name, Juwan is the way to go. If you’re hiring a head basketball coach for a college team, on the other hand..,

Where I live--far western…

Where I live--far western Wayne County, it's all dirt roads into Washtenaw.  I have a gravel bike and love it. I have a 19.5 mile loop I ride and only encounter 10-12 cars on average.

And I'm an Ineos guy. Bernal's having an encouraging start to the season. I don't think he can beat the Big 4, but I'm hoping he can podium.  Looking for Pidcock to make some strides in this year's Tour.

You would think Sherrone,…

You would think Sherrone, with three years of observing Clink in the Ravens' system would know whether he wanted him to be the DC.

Pretty sure that's not the…

Pretty sure that's not the pitch.

Thanks for the writeup. Much appreciated.

We’ve been scammed!

We’ve been scammed!

Excellent logic there.  I…

Excellent logic there.  I can't say that the TdF is only for people who want to watch on tape delay, but I can say 100% of spoilers wreck it for people who are watching on delay.  Because if they're watching live, they already know.

In addition to the above,…

In addition to the above, teammates will drop back to the team car to pick up hydration and snacks/calories, and carry them back up to the team leader, which saves them huge amounts of energy.

Also, the leaders can often just relax behind their teammate(s) for long stretches and not have to worry about anything ahead, keeping them mentally fresh for closer to the end.

And finally (I think), if a team leader has a flat tire or mechanical issue, and teammate will give up their bike and wait for the replacement/tire change.

Not sure what the rules of…

Not sure what the rules of the board are on this, but I'd really appreciate it if people could keep spoilers out of the titles, thanks.

That said, Go Blue! Go Woods!

If all of his credits…

If all of his credits transferred to UM, he'd have to sit out a year because it would his second transfer.  Same thing if he tried to transfer anywhere else without graduating.

The only way he can be eligible at any school other than Kentucky next year is by graduating, unless he gets a waiver, but the NCAA announced a few months ago that they plan to be stingy with those going forward.

What's the protocol if…

What's the protocol if representatives of a player not yet in the portal contact a school to gauge if the school would have interest if he were to enter the portal?

Good point on not upsetting…

Good point on not upsetting Sherrone, though the counter is that the lack of title might limit the pool of candidates.

One person in the "Harbaugh…

One person in the "Harbaugh Ties" category would be Tanner Engstrand, current TE Coach and PGC for the Lions. Played QB at San Diego State, then was a GA and eventually OC for Harbaugh at San Diego.  Was an analyst at UM in 2018 before leaving to become an OC in the XFL.  Started with the Lions in 2020 as an offensive assistant. Campbell retained him and then promoted him to his current position when he promoted Ben Johnson to OC.

Not if you replace them with…

Not if you replace them with an equal number of "culture/glue guys."

You can't just keep kicking…

You can't just keep kicking the Kanka down the road.

The analytics show that…

The analytics show that players with bitten kneecaps run slower.

I think Jaelin Llewellyn…

I think Jaelin Llewellyn will definitely be a long range threat. Jace recounted him hitting threes on seven possessions in a row in a game this summer while going against a "UM alum guard."

I listen to at least parts…

I listen to at least parts of Sam & Ira's show most days, and Sam hasn't shied away from the topic. (Ira has been away this week). For example on Wednesday Sam lamented Michael Spath being on vacation, because he wanted his take. But he still discussed it at length. It's been discussed on other days as well.

He’s Jonathan Godwin’s son…

He’s Jonathan Godwin’s son. And Jonathan helps coach his and Jadyn’s high school team. Yes

Went this morning.  Lots of…

Went this morning.  Lots of great stuff.  In my opinion the most concentrated area of exceptional artists this year is on the west side of the pedestrian way between Rackham and the Diag. But everyone's tastes are different and there are great things throughout.

Reportedly long enough that…

Reportedly long enough that he sometimes blocks his own kicks.

I believe that number has…

I believe that number has been retired by UM.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Wouldn't have been my top…

Wouldn't have been my top choice, but found this little article:

https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/high-school/2021/07/12/former-asu-baseball-coach-tracy-smith-provides-feedback-dv-ad/7946734002/

which made me feel better, particularly the "starting with diversity and inclusion" part. Because as I may have posted here before, I think one of the best things Erik Bakich did, and a key to being competitive with the warm weather teams, is to recruit beyond the baseball showcases in which kids from families with means are over-represented.

I'm generally biases toward…

I'm generally biased toward hiring up-and-comers, and would be really intrigued by what Brdar might bring. BUT given Michigan's (and all other northern schools') "mid-major-at-best" status in college baseball, it might be a good move to hire the 53 year-old McMullan.

If Brdar comes and has five years of success here, he would likely go from up-and-comer to movie'-on-upper.  Whereas after five years of success McMullan would be 58, and while still having a good number of seasons' worth of tread on his tires, he'd presumably be a bit less likely to be poached by a "major."

Basically, I guess I'm saying UM should consider using age discrimination to its advantage.

I think it's more like …

I think it's more like 'titles to allow for increased compensation's sake.'

I think Newsome's promotion…

I think Newsome's promotion from GA to position coach at UM is a reflection of just how highly he's thought of.

Plus, legend has it he was the de facto OL coach a couple of seasons ago when Ed Warinner apparently had better things to do than hands-on coaching.

Actually they weren't…

Actually they weren't. Gattis's title was OC. Moore's was Co-OC.

How is it in contradiction…

How is it in contradiction for Sam to say Gattis felt under-appreciated by administration because he was paid less than the DC's, and for Gattis to text the players he was under-appreciated by administration?

Minter wouldn't be the Co-DC…

Minter wouldn't be the Co-DC, Clink would. Minter would be the DC. Similarly, Sherrone Moore has Co-OC in his title, but Josh Gattis's title is OC.

"You're welcome, John. …

"You're welcome, John.  Thanks for the OSU win and B1G Championship."

I love his press…

I love his press availabilities. Always insightful. Sometimes funny too. Like when he was asked this year about the possibility of a trick play with one of the specialists throwing a pass, and said something along the lines of, "They all think they can pass. They're crazy."

I love how this staff always…

I love how this staff always has a backup plan when recruiting. Curious to see who they move on to if Kevonte Henry decides to go elsewhere.

I believe Nick Saban is a…

I believe Nick Saban is a Kent State grad.

Also, I'm a fan of KSU's coach, Sean Lewis. But Rumler's really going to have to get into shape, because Lewis thing is all about hurry-up on offense.

I've heard it's because Mike…

I've heard it's because Mike Hart would prefer to have five RB's on scholarship.

His fellow nominees should…

His fellow nominees should be very, very nervous.

Careful. Your statement…

Careful. Your statement could be admissible evidence in a scalping trial.

Story I heard was the he was…

Story I heard was the he was constantly injured, and finally said he was still injured and refused to practice even when he WAS cleared. So they said, 'Okay, you're a medical."  Then he had a change of heart and transferred.

Best wishes, Brian.  I hope…

Best wishes, Brian.  I hope for your sake that building gets built in a way that suits and pleases you.  Even if there isn't room in it for Michigan Football.

Protecting their trademark…

Protecting their trademark is not arbitrary. As I read elsewhere, do the New York Yankees allow their players to use their logo in the ads they might do?

"May your spinster sister…

Carnac the Magnificent (Johnny Carson) to Ed McMahon, circa 1975

They aren't all from the…

They aren't all from the same class.  Last year's class, that had Power, Berniers and Johnson, had 10 guys in it, almost all very highly rated.  The wtka morning show with Sam & Ira coined them, "The X Men," which I thought was pretty good.

They can't. When the B1G was…

They can't. When the B1G was trying to entice them back then, the ACC passed a rule that any team that leaves the conference has to pay 100% financial payouts they get from their new conference to the ACC through 2035.

Edit: Source for this is Ira Weintraub on this morning's show.

Matt Painter.  Seems like a…

Matt Painter.  Seems like a good guy.

The OP also said Matt…

The OP also said Matt Campbell was offered full control. That's the part that doesn't make sense to me, given his lack of NFL experience and Sheila Ford Hamp's "collaborative effort" mantra.

Welcome Steve "Colonel"…

Welcome Steve "Colonel" Clinkscale!

I have great hope for Seb…

I have great hope for Seb Korda to break through. Easy power, no gaping holes in his game, and already way better at the net than most of the up-and-comers, it seems.

The key to me would be whether Turgeon felt his life was actually in danger in that moment. Hard to imagine he did.
