Could he be the missing piece of the puzzle that sends UCONN into the playoffs???
November 11th, 2021 at 10:16 AM ^
PLAYOFFS?
November 11th, 2021 at 10:18 AM ^
Don’t talk about playoffs
November 11th, 2021 at 4:40 PM ^
He'll just be happy if they can win a game. UConn hasn't been able to do diddly poo
November 11th, 2021 at 10:14 AM ^
That's a Mora.
November 11th, 2021 at 11:51 AM ^
When the M00N hits your eye like a big Husky pie?
November 11th, 2021 at 12:51 PM ^
Oh, good. Though I hate explaining a joke, I was tempted to add an explanation of the reference because it's an old one.
I should have known the MGoGang would get it. That it wouldn't need their humor hand held, so to speak.

He did a decent job at UCLA. Surprised he has been out for so long.
November 11th, 2021 at 10:22 AM ^
UCLA thinks they are USC and has unrealistic expectations. Cant recruit on an elite level so they will always be middle of the PAC (pun intended)
November 11th, 2021 at 12:25 PM ^
I mean they are USC without the preseason rankings bump and then inevitable early season crushing loss
November 11th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
i meant historically. USC has been a shit show since 2010 but they cant stay down forever can they?
November 11th, 2021 at 4:28 PM ^
For most of my conscious life though (born in '80), USC has been trying to return to dominance, with uneven at best results. Carroll's 02-08 run was elite, but that was more an exception than the norm. UCLA beat them almost every year in the '90s
November 11th, 2021 at 10:55 AM ^
He did a decent job at UCLA for his first three years. The last three were basically a disaster. Hope he's going into UCONN with his eyes open about the challenge there.
November 11th, 2021 at 2:36 PM ^
His biggest challenge is that very few people in the Northeast are interested in college football.
November 11th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Someone pointed this out on twitter, but after getting fired by the Seahawks in 2009, he had a three year buyout, then took the UCLA job in 2012. He got fired with 4 years left in 2017, and just took a job now 4 years later lmao

Great hire, shit program. Should be fun
November 11th, 2021 at 12:38 PM ^
Jim Mora Sr. >>>>>>>> Jim Mora Jr.
November 11th, 2021 at 1:18 PM ^
Two time USFL champion Jim Mora
November 11th, 2021 at 2:44 PM ^
I’d kill for that hair.
November 11th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
Careful. Your statement could be admissible evidence in a scalping trial.
November 11th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
Playoffs?!
November 11th, 2021 at 10:32 AM ^
Mora! Mora! Mora!
November 11th, 2021 at 10:41 AM ^
If he gets out of UConn what he got out of UCLA, he can coach there for years as the best football coach UConn has ever had!
November 11th, 2021 at 2:32 PM ^
Never forget that Randy Edsall took UConn to a BCS bowl in his first stint there... only to ditch them for Maryland, then later to return and completely torch UConn's program.
November 11th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
to be fair uconn was already ablaze the second time he got there
November 11th, 2021 at 4:28 PM ^
Looking at the totality of the situation, a case can be made that no program had a hire this century worse than Paul Pasqualoni replacing Edsall. A healthier football program makes them an easy candidate for the ACC over Louisville and potentially B1G over Rutgers (they obviously have healthier programs in basketball).

Bring back the Civil ConFLiCT trophy you coward.
November 11th, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
From a regional standpoint, this is a really weird hire. Mora's been a West Coast guy for pretty much his entire life with the exception of his coaching stints in New Orleans helping his dad as an assistant and Atlanta as the Falcons head coach. On top of that, he's been out of the coaching game for a few years. I assume he's going to find some coaches with Northeast connections? Otherwise, it just seems that the transfer portal is going to be his friend.
November 11th, 2021 at 4:19 PM ^
he's been working out of Bristol CT for ESPN the last couple years.
November 11th, 2021 at 10:56 AM ^
That's a very interesting hire. Read some articles recently regarding coaching hot seats and positions to be filled and I don't think saw a single mention of his name.
November 11th, 2021 at 11:14 AM ^
I wonder what he presented in the interview, as others have said he’s been out for a few years and has, at least from a coaching perspective, has never been a Northeast guy.
Perhaps they’re hoping to use the portal aggressively to be competitive sooner, as it’s not like there’s a ton of regional recruits coming in, then using that momentum to find a football conference.
November 11th, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
Jeez, playing UCONN again? Whose idea was this?
November 11th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
Have you seen the non cons the next two years? It ain’t pretty.
November 11th, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
Somehow I had no clue we were playing UConn again. I thought we were done with that
November 11th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
One of the strangest road games ever. Desmond Morgan saved our ass
November 11th, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
A pretty good hire for UCONN. Not sure I can say the same for Mora.
A pretty large career downfall for this guy. Going from coaching prime Vick in Atlanta to one of the worst jobs in FBS. He wasn't terrible in the NFL or at UCLA either. Surprised he didn't get picked up prior to this.
November 11th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
Could have been worse. He could be the head coach of the Lions.
November 11th, 2021 at 11:35 AM ^
Facing Steve Addazio, Todd Graham, and Jim L. Mora in our 2022 non-con
September will feel like a timewarp to circa 2010
November 11th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
Does UConn fill the non-conference Power 5 requirement because they are an independent?
November 11th, 2021 at 11:51 AM ^
Dude must really want to get back into coaching.
November 11th, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
Les Miles to Kansas 2.0 this should end well.
November 11th, 2021 at 12:32 PM ^
Interesting tidbit: He's going to be an assistant coach for the rest of the season. After he gets an up close and personal view of the talent, he'll live on the Transfer Portal.
November 11th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
that's... a really good idea. fills an opening on the coaching staff, allows him to assess talent like you said, and crucially can hit the road in recruiting.
November 11th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
UCONN believe it!
I'll show myself out...
November 11th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
You can literally trace his decline at ucla to the day he got busted cheating on his wife. Had things going pretty well before that
