Exactly - you’ll put up with…

Exactly - you’ll put up with those turnovers every game if they’re winning face offs at that rate and being aggressive on offense.

Cohen had a helluva night. This will change a bit once updated, but I love that Boehm and Cohen are so tight on team points lead from basically even assist / goal ratios. Love to see the “generosity” across the season - it’s paying off come tourney time!

What a win! A stat I want to…

What a win! A stat I want to point out that no one on the broadcast has discussed. Faceoffs won: Michigan - 19, Penn State - 5. Taylor and the D were obviously great but it helps a lot to 4x them on FOs won. Very fun to watch.

Man, this blog has really Man, this blog has really began to digress. I come to read about sports and half the time it's cunts like you internet tough guying it. I vote for IP addresses accompanying posts so that maybe some of this would sort itself out offline.

That used to be my favorite

That used to be my favorite spot to park too. Unfortunately, a building was built on the site in the last couple of years. It is part of the athletic campus.

Found this article that had more info on the circumstances:

"According to Hairston, Taylor returned to her apartment on Thursday after she received a telephone call from her babysitter, who told her that Taylor's 9-year-old daughter was arguing with Simmons' 10-year-old sister. Hairston said that when Taylor attempted to leave with her daughter, Simmons and others beat on her car.

Hairston said that Ashley Bradley, another one of Simmons' sisters, then pulled Taylor out of her car and struck her several times, and that after Taylor was pushed to the ground, Simmons struck her several times with his fists. At the end of the video, another woman is shown striking and kicking Taylor. According to Hairston, the woman was Simmons' mother, Brenda Bradley.

"My 4-year-old grandson had to watch them beating his mother," Hairston said."

Apparently an arugment between a 9 and 10 year old led to adult women beating the piss out of each other, at which time Simmons jumped in. Pretty ridiculous.

I had the unfortunate I had the unfortunate pleasure of anchoring the 4x100m for my high school at the 2000 regionals in Saginaw. On the inside was Stu Schweigert while Charles Rogers was on my outside. It was pretty demoralizing receiving the baton in a tie for first place only to have two guys run 10.4ish splits and make my 10.9 (a PR) look like I belonged in middle school.
For me it's not even close: For me it's not even close: Cyrus. You'd think a movie starring John C Reily, Jonah Hill, and Marisa Tomei would be funny but that movie just made me feel terrible all over.
Let me start with I agree

Let me start with I agree that he shouldn't have had to go through that during the draft and there were obviously very nefarious intentions by whoever hacked his social media accounts.

But how can you take what he said about paying for his mom's utility bills at face value? Given that he accepted free car rentals and free vacation lodging, among who knows what other improper benefits, you can't really call Tunsil the face of integrity. His "mom's light bill" could have been true or a lie for needing money for any number of things. The jury is still out on whether his issues stem from coming from a poor background or are coming from broader character and judgement issues, something that NFL teams care far more about than whether someone has smoked weed in the past or taken a few interest free loans.

I guess my point is, no one knows how this whole situation played out and we will likely never truly know (particularly about what the monetary benefits actually went to pay for). Both Tunsil and Ole Miss broke the rules and Ole Miss should be punished as an institution for that.
I was just about to post the

I was just about to post the same thing so I'm glad I read through and found your comment. "Momma's light bill" is likely code for any number of things, such as gas for a car received from improper benefits, or for partying, or weed to put in my gas mask bong.

Absurd that the NFL continued

Absurd that the NFL continued to pursue this in light of the scientific evidence (or lackthereof in the NFL's case) discrediting their report. Looks like this is going to be drawn out further as this moves up to higher courts.

The only prerequisite, at

The only prerequisite, at least at the time I took it, was eng 101. We learned how to have the command prompt display things like "I love umich football" using the 'cout' command. The class hardly did anything to prepare you for 280, though.

To add to its claim of hardest class, I had heard that it had the lowest average gpa of any course at UM. I didn't see any data to confirm that, but from the misery my classmates seemed to be in, too, I could believe it.

I would have to go with EECS

I would have to go with EECS 280. As an electrical engineering requirement and no way to test out of it, the class had a wide mix of people with programming experience and many, like myself, who had only used a computer to chat on AOL with babes. Needless to say, I was ecstatic for my C+ in the class after spending 20 hours a week on the homework for a 4 credit class.

Moving day in the college

Moving day in the college basketball world, apparently. Good luck to Doyle. With Davis coming in and Donnal and Wagner moving ahead of him on the depth chart, minutes at the 5 looked less and less for Doyle.

Why is basically say it in Why is basically say it in quotes? I don't see that phrase anywhere in my post. If Hackett speaking with Sam Webb on a broadcast on Feb 5 is good enough to qualify for your definition of "actually say[ing] it", than he actually said it.
Back in February, Hackett did

Back in February, Hackett did an interview with Sam Webb where he almost certainly ruled out a night game for this upcoming season (amid talking about getting the MSU/OSU games on alternating home schedules). Not sure why everyone is trying to tear Manuel's head off when Hackett was the messenger in the first place. In the interview, Hackett emphasized TV and tradition playing a part in it, basically mirroring Manuel's opinion of a preference for day games.

While Manuel's opinion may be a preference for day games, he isn't an idiot and will schedule them in the future should coaches and the fans want them. You can bet on it. However, contrary to this blog's groupthink, an overwhelming majority of fans, the ones writing checks to the university, prefer not to have night games.

Weird, another basketball Weird, another basketball thread where the OP can't spell our player's name correctly. At least it's implied in a positive way! Though just waiting for the keyboard warriors to show up and give us expert analysis on how Caris "Lavert" couldn't hit that shot.
Are you guys talking about Are you guys talking about Lavert Hill or Caris LEVERT? The fact that half this thread can't spell the kid's name right tells me everything I need to know about your Michigan basketball fandom.
Damn you beat me to it!

Damn you beat me to it! Always love this picture.

Hopefully we can renew the

Did any mgobookies set an

Did any mgobookies set an over/under line on Weaver-related posts for today? Wish I would have taken the over on it, whatever it would have been. Its only 4pm eastern time, still a lot of hours in the day left to get at least 5 more of them...

What is with this incessant desire to post the same information discussed and posted in the 4 other threads about the topic and in the thread on the main page posted by Brian, you know, the guy who owns and operates the site (meaning its still on the front page so no excuse for not seeing it "fall off the board")?

Bingo. "Anonymous parent" aka

Bingo. "Anonymous parent" aka "the voice inside the writer's head scheming for way to get clicks"

Its astonishing to me how

Its astonishing to me how desperate writers get for clicks. They know that just by writing about or inserting the words "Jim Harbaugh" into their stories they'll get his supporters and detractors clicking through.

I, I'm sure many mgobloggers, and Coach himself find it hilarious. That Harbaugh is such an attraction for press only helps to keep Michigan in the news. They just keep writing this stuff for us. Bama may have won the CFP a few weeks ago but you can't turn on the TV or visit a sports site without seeing Harbaugh/Michigan on the frontpage. I hope it continues for years to come, and I know it will especially as we rack up the W's.

Sad to lose a rock legend and Sad to lose a rock legend and particularly one who grew up in the Detroit area. Glenn was great at writing catchy songs and had that tough as nails blue collar Detroit persona. Wouldn't take shit from anyone, which was part of the Eagles breakup. Also, didn't he have some role in Jerry Maguire where he had to give Tom Cruise's character some shit? I'm glad I was able to see the band during the History of the Eagles tour. I always thought Joe Walsh would have been the first "to go" from the group.
I wish the kid well. Good I wish the kid well. Good luck to him. I may be biased, but I see him developing himself for the NFL better learning under Harbaugh. A year or two more of success and these close calls will be falling our way more often than not.
Jed is such a clown but I'm

Jed is such a clown but I'm ever so thankful for his ineptness. His idiocy is what brought Harbaugh home. The fact that even the slightest slight by Harbaugh on twitter is enough to elicit a response is just priceless, too. This is going to be the gift that keeps on giving, for every year SF doesn't succeed someone is going to remind Jed of it.

Haha. I got a very good laugh

Haha. I got a very good laugh out of this, thank you.

My lean is towards the maize My lean is towards the maize pants but I have to admit that the white pants have grown on me.
You are spot on. Bert's You are spot on. Bert's imagination must be getting the best of him and he's convinced himself that Arkansas has been an SEC leader rather than basement dweller. SEC fans, unlike any other P5 conference that has had stellar teams, genuinely think that Bama's success over the last ten years means their team is somehow better because of it.
While I could see Chip While I could see Chip heading to TN, I could see him taking the year off. There could be some major college programs with vacant top jobs next year and there are always a few NFL jobs open each season that he would absolutely be considered for.
Excellent use of Excellent use of juxtaposition. This photo cracks me up
Hah, sorry to whine about the Hah, sorry to whine about the points. And I'm not defending Peyton here because like everybody else I have no idea. And I get how past revelations have proven to be true with some other athletes (Lance Armstrong). I'm just not willing to buy the story with the source going back on it, though I can see your point about him having second thoughts for other reasons, too. Either way, the truth will likely come out eventually as we have seen in other PED cases.
The fact that I said to wait The fact that I said to wait to believe the story of a questionable news agency who's source has recanted his story is grounds for multiple downvotes? Are people really that bad at reading comprehension or just that douchey? Given that "breaking" a story has become more important to "journalists" these days than accuracy, I just find it hard to believe an expose that's key source has recanted.
Or you're angry because of Or you're angry because of baseless allegations. I'm not taking a side in this debate yet, but for a site that has questioned journalistic integrity/story breaking (re: Harbaugh hiring), it sure seems like a lot of people on this site are quick to jump on the Al Jazzeera train even in the face of a source recanting his statements.
I lol'd a lot at this I lol'd a lot at this
I hope we're all able to make

I hope we're all able to make these Back to the Future jokes for years to come.

Thanks, very informative. And

Thanks, very informative. And its good to hear that it likely is a form that is successfully treated.

Maybe its just me not knowing

Maybe its just me not knowing the incidence rate but doesn't it seem like a disproportionate number of athletes and coaches have been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma recently? I hope the kid makes a full and quick recovery.

Is that a Sneakers reference?

Is that a Sneakers reference? Awesome, if so.

Sometimes the universe Sometimes the universe corrects itself and we saw that tonight. After the abortion of officiating that we had in the UM/MSU game, it was only fitting it would come back around their way. Another Dantonio heart attack in 3... 2... 1....

Overpaying for broadcasting

Overpaying for broadcasting rights definitely hurts the bottomline and so, too, would unbundling from cable contracts, however, the article doesn't mention the actual ratings drop the channel has seen among subscribed households and web traffic declines. I've seen other articles mentioning this and in my opinion this started when they appeared to lose their objectivity in sports reporting and began to push thinly veiled politicization into content and broadcasts. Some others have mentioned it here with the Michael Sam and Jenner references. The partnership with Nate Silver comes to mind, too.

Much like mgoblog does, ESPN would be better served avoiding content which is out of the realm of sports. Obsessive reporting about an issue which some may perceive as political turns off 50% of your viewers. They've fallen into the "grab for ratings" trap, trying to run with a popular headline while failing to recognize their expertise and viewers aren't looking for their opinion on such matters.

This just seems like a really dumb problem for ESPN to have and is self-inflicted.

I've been talking about the I've been talking about the curse for a while. It started the night Bo died in 2006. I don't know what it's going to take to end it, but I hope it ends soon for my sanity.
Not only the targeting call Not only the targeting call but the missed pick on peppers on MSU's second drive. Isn't this the same crew that had a few terrible calls against us in the oregon state game? The fact that the replay official upheld that targeting call is a testament to a need for change in nfl and ncaa officiating. For all the money the ncaa makes, enough of having a high school social studies teacher play football God.
Total shenanigans. Says "I Total shenanigans. Says "I was hoping for some political signs!" in the first post.
It's unreal that people like It's unreal that people like you can't have any situation in life where you don't interject politics. Take 24 hours off from politics every week to enjoy yourself and I guarantee you would be a much less miserable person. I need to participate in the posbangs more to get enough points to neg you.

Everytime I see this posted somewhere I have to watch it 3 or 4 times. I love his comments in the presser, too, where they asked De'Veon if he said anything to #15 and he was like, no, but I wish I would have. Haha.

Not at all. Rudock played his tail off, was a more efficient passer than we've had in ages, and moved around in the pocket great while avoiding sacks. Not sure why some of these clowns are dissing his performance from yesterday because, aside from the INT, he played pretty well.
