I was at Mon Jin Lau in Troy an hour ago and the last thing I saw before leaving the restaurant was a pic of Frey and the restaurant owner among the celebrity diner photos above the establishment's main entrance. He was a Detroit native, Dondero HS Class of '66. I probably have to fire up his Miami Vice episode now (Smuggler's Blues). RIP

Thanks, it is indeed him. Grew up watching him on Channel 7 as a kid and my brothers thought he was legendary based on the stories heard about him despite them being too young to remember watching him.

I was having the same thought when I heard this news, and it reminded me of a tweet that came across my feed earlier today with the ages of various rock icons as they will be (or are, if their birthday has passed already) in 2016. I was actually a bit awestruck by the fact that a lot of artists I grew up listening to (I am nearly 40 myself) are now in their 60s and 70s, some in fact the same age or older than my own parents (74 and 72). Didn't really think about it until I saw that list.

RIP Glenn Frey.

... at first I thought this was someone from the Philadelphia Eagles, and I thought, "Hmm... never heard of him.

Then I saw it on a newsfeed, and made the connection to one of my favorite bands growing up. Sucks.  RIP.

Hell finally froze over. I love Lebowski but he was dead wrong about the Eagles. Wonder how Felder is doing tonight.

Joe Walsh said to be stunned he wasn't the first to go.

There was some absolutely outstanding rock music produced in the 70's and these folks are getting old.  They produced the music of my youth and I still enjoy listening to most of these songs.  Unfortunately, this trend is going to continue as these folks continue to get older.

Never understood those who "hate the Eagles".  Like, I get if it wouldn't be one's true style or maybe something about them just didn't click.  They made some decent music that I find hard to debate and to hate a band like that, I don't get it.  Is it more of a "too cool" for them, type outlook?
