Will You Root For the Chargers? and Will Jim Win A Super Bowl With the Chargers?

Submitted by FlaWolverine22 on January 25th, 2024 at 7:09 AM

I want to start this off by saying I love Jim Harbaugh. I’m very thankful for what we accomplished here and I will absolutely root for him to succeed in the NFL again. As far as winning a Super Bowl, I’m not so sure he’ll be able to win one. I think he’ll make the AFC Championship Game twice in 5 years. I can’t see him making it past Mahomes, Burrow and Josh Allen right now.

Eventually, I'll root for the Chargers to represent the AFC in the Superb Owl against the Lions.

Right now, I'm still a little salty and want Herbert to full Andrew Luck (grow a civil war general level beard and retire).

Yes I will continue to root for JH.  No, I do not think he will win a Super Bowl.  I think he will do fine with the Chargers, but a Super Bowl is a whole new beast.

Like most of you, I have many thoughts about Jim rolling around in my head. Thankfully you asked specific questions, so I'll just answer those while I process everything else going on.

I root for all former Michigan players and coaches as much as possible, so yeah, I'll root for Jim and the Chargers some. My AFC team has been the Ravens since '98 or so, so as long as it doesn't conflict with that, sure, go Jim.

Overall though, I'm a Lions fan, so that's my rooting interest most of all.

Will Jim win a Super Bowl? He has a good shot at it. He almost won one with the Niners, he already has a good QB, and you know he will field a great defense since he will take Minter with him. My guess is he'll either win one in 3-4 years or not at all, since his shelf life with an NFL team will only be 4 years or so.

As far as a firm prediction, I will say he will reach a Super Bowl, but he won't win. The AFC just looks very strong for the window of years he'll be in LA.

No, and no.

I couldn’t care less about the Chargers and Jim has chosen to no longer be our coach. I am thankful for what he did for our football program but I feel for his family getting jerked around by his ego.

He was not run out of Ann Arbor by anyone but himself. And I have become tired of defending his odd behavior.

Go Blue.

Yep I will root for JH for life, wherever he goes, because I know that, while the NFL is his truest love, he bleeds Blue for life and will do anything he can to help us out in the future.

I'll root for Jim Harbaugh to lead the Chargers past the Swiftie Mahomies, that's for sure!

And the Russ Wilson/Sean Paytons, the Mark Davis', pretty much the rest of the AFC. Although someday I'd be ok with it if the Bills finally win one!

And should he get past all those obstacles (I'd bet he wont unless Mahomes got hurt) I'd root for the Chargers over any NFC team except my Niners or the Lions.

So yeah, I hope he does well, but I have zero emotional attachment to it!

Go Blue!

Washington I think would've been perfect place for him. More cap space than any nfl team, have 9 draft picks in this years draft including 6 picks in the top 102 . He also could've drafted JJ if he really doesn't believe in Sam Howell.

Its NOT just that he let Harbaugh Go...Hes Let Bakich go...He let the succesfull Water Polo coach Go...He Fired a Final 4 Hockey coach ...he let the National Champ Mens Gym coach go and he couldnt retain Belien and he hired Juwan Howard who is a disaster...Im sure there are others as well but his track record has been ABYSMAL...Manuel has to GO

I'm 100% rooting for chargers. I moved to the LA area during COVID year, and have no NFL home team to watch. Now I am going to have a home team with my favorite coach. I am as happy as I could ever be.

It's a tough division, but I can see Harbaugh turning around year 1 and eventually with the right draft picks to go to the super bowl at year 3 ish.

He will try hard to win a super bowl, or die trying. That I'm 100% sure.

I don't care about the NFL and don't have a team I follow. I root for individual players and, sometimes, coaches. I look forward to rooting for Harbaugh to succeed, just as I enjoy watching Jourdan Lewis, Rashan Gary, etc. I am especially excited to see the next crop of Michigan rookies, many of whom are in my pantheon of favorite players.

Go Blue.

I haven't paid attention to the NFL since I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. For some reason Michigan changing players every four years was fine (perhaps because I was used to it from the start) but once my childhood idols retired I lost all interest (was lucky that Montana->Young was seamless). I will try to become a chargers fan but we'll see what happens.

Maybe.  If they were playing someone I didn't have some other attachment to, which is most of the league.

I mean, I wish he'd stayed but I don't blame him for wanting to chase a Super Bowl.  Or get away from the NCAA.

Yes, will always appreciate Coach Harbaugh and his 9 years here and will always root for him. No I don't think the Chargers will win a Super Bowl while they are in Los Angeles.  Imho, they don't fit or belong there.  Then again probably a lot of ex and old Cleveland Browns fans  thought the Browns would never win a Super Bowl in Baltimore, and they did with a Coach Harbaugh.   Would be quite a coincidence if Coach Harbaugh won one with the L.A. Chargers.  Finally, I think Coach Harbaugh is a great coach and his track record is proven, so he just might at that.  Going to miss him badly as our Michigan coach for sure.

Ill be like a Chargers fan. Ill check the score from time to time. Maybe watch them play a road game in LA vs the Raiders. We shall see. Probably check him out in the playoffs, superbowl and since I dont watch ESPN/Sportscenter anymore that would be about it.

No, I won't be watching the Chargers.

I do not care about the NFL.

What I do care about is if Minter, Herbert, or anyone else gets strip mined out of the Michigan football program to join the Chargers.

I think it's kind of interesting that the obstacles in his path to a Super Bowl are largely the same as he faced here:

- a more talented in-division team with a better QB (Chiefs/OSU), relegating him to a backdoor playoff entrance.

- a talent-acquisition model that doesn't favor him (Spanos-notorious-frugality/Michigan-NIL).

He eventually overcame those hurdles by building his Michigan teams from the lines out and using the portal extensively, and by allocating the NIL money towards proven performers and not highly rated high school recruits.

It is possible that he will be able to open the purse strings a bit, and build two solid to great lines, and just like that he'll be in the picture.  It's also possible that Mahomes keeps stuffing the Chargers into a locker and denying Harbaugh his dream.

-----

Clearly, he should have maneuvered Andy Reid into retiring so he could take that job!

Will always root for a Michigan man.  Tall order to win a Super Bowl with the Chargers.  Too many teams that are too strong.  But he will do whatever he can to give them the best opportunity.  Curious how long he lasts.  Would not be shocked if one day he ended up back in Ann Arbor.
