Eh, even though Detroit lost to the Niners I have a hard time hating them.

There are two reasons for that.

One is that Mr. Irrelevant tearing up the league is an echo of Tom Brady.

Two is that, in the 80s, the Niners were my second team. Bill Walsh came in and did a terrific turnaround job, turning them into an NFC power with a highly likeable group of players.

Are CBS' microphones screwed up, or is there basically no crowd noise?

The atmosphere for this game, it sounds completely DEAD.

Admittedly, this has been a pretty dull first 12 minutes.

Watching the game from Birmingham, UK (I'm from the US) and the coverage here is....different?

They've got a British and American guy doing play-by-play but during commercials they cut back to the pregame guys (British guy, Irish guy, and 2 former players) and do more analysis and highlights. Occasionally they'll show a few commercials but they always come back way before the US broadcast. I think it's literally illegal to show as many commercials as us.

Yep.  I watched a Super Bowl from Dublin about 10 years ago, it was the middle-of-the-night but the coverage was awesome.  Analysis and highlights during every commercial break.

Tony Romo has become --- well, awful.  He has a hoarse voice today too.  I'm jealous of your alternate announcers.
