UCLA alum here (and no, I'm not a UCLA fan)...

The Rose Bowl is located nowhere near campus. There's buses and things but that takes effort and costs money which aren't really things college kids want to deal with. Imagine if U of M decided to play football at Ford Field. That's about the same amount of effort to get from campus to the stadium.

Back when I was a UCLA student (graduated in 2008) they had more NCAA championships than anyone but I guess Stanford has passed them.

I'm a rugby union fan, haven…

I'm a rugby union fan, haven't really tried rugby 7's. I've got tickets for every rugby 7s match at the Paris Olympics so I guess I'll try it out there.

It's OSU but the only reason…

It's OSU but the only reason it might not be OSU is as awful as they are, they're college kids which might earn them back enough points to be less awful than a few other teams.....but probably still not.

I mean technically Green Bay…

I mean technically Green Bay would've been worse but that would have made no sense at all.

It says Van Buren.

It says Van Buren.

ugggggggggggggggggggggggh

ugggggggggggggggggggggggh

Bears so terrible at…

Bears so terrible at drafting QBs they should take JJ just to make sure they got a QB.

This is an odd thing to…

This is an odd thing to watch. Love JJ and obviously the sooner he gets picked the better for him but at the same time there's yet to be a team where I want to see him go. Lions don't really need him so I'm not sure what I'm even cheering for here.

Went to this game. Also went…

Went to this game. Also went last year. Had tickets 2 years ago but cancelled last minute as I was in Dublin. I guess this one hurts the least of the 3. This was the only one I didn't expect to win. But at the same time maybe it hurts more. We didn't win when I thought we would so maybe we would win when I thought we wouldn't. Proud of this team and sure as hell not gonna get mad at a bunch of kids for giving it their all and doing better than they were supposed to. I just really want to win this tournament. Not sure if it's the right take, but give if I found a magic lamp and a genie offered me a national championship in the sport of my choice next season, I'm taking this sport over all the rest.

This Frozen Four kind of…

This Frozen Four kind of feels different. In a way it's like the opposite of the way football goes. 2 years ago we had like the best college hockey team imaginable. It felt inevitable we would win...until we didn't.

Last year's team didn't seem as good but we had a fairly decent draw for the SF and I felt pretty confident. And then we didn't.

This year we're probably the least likely of the 4 teams to win if you ask the oddsmakers (are there even NCAA hockey odds lol) but we aren't that much worse than the other 3 teams so it's certainly feasible we can win it.

I really want this. If given…

really want this. If given a choice of Michigan hockey winning 2 more games this season or Michigan football repeating as national champions, I would take this.

Not sure I would've said the same thing before the start of the season, but at this point I want a hockey championship more than any other sport.

I went to Miami and thought…

I went to Miami and thought we might pull it off. We were embarrassed.

I went to Phoenix and though there was no way we could lose. I was heartbroken.

I went to Los Angeles thinking we could win but was the least optimistic of the above. I was ecstatic.

I went to Houston and we won everything.

I had tickets to Boston but had to cancel the day before. Watched us lose to Denver in Overtime from Ireland and I think I sat on the floor staring into space for hours after.

Went to Tampa last year and was crushed.

Bought my tickets for Minneapolis in October. Third time has to be a charm. I'm so ready.

Frozen Four bound. I bought my tickets....in October!

They won the B1G regular season and tourney. They can have it. Hopefully they have nice comfy couches to watch the Frozen Four on TV.

I'll be there! Bought my tickets in October.

I'll gladly lose every game…

I'll gladly lose every game to them just to beat them in the tourney :)

That's fair. I didn't want…

That's fair. I didn't want to say the quiet part out loud.

Not what I wanted

Not what I wanted

Hit him in the head I think…

Hit him in the head I think. Need to see replay before I say for sure, but I think it might be 5.

Hate to be greedy since we…

Hate to be greedy since we won the NCAA Football title, but I really want to win the hockey title. I want an asterisk free championship*

*By that I mean that the NCAA doesn't recognize an FBS National champion but they do have one for hockey.

Yeah this coverage is great…

Yeah this coverage is great. And bonus points for bringing up Ireland in this thread lol.

Watching the game from…

Watching the game from Birmingham, UK (I'm from the US) and the coverage here is....different?

They've got a British and American guy doing play-by-play but during commercials they cut back to the pregame guys (British guy, Irish guy, and 2 former players) and do more analysis and highlights. Occasionally they'll show a few commercials but they always come back way before the US broadcast. I think it's literally illegal to show as many commercials as us.

Your title had me hope that…

Your title had me hope that you were a long-time season ticket holder and planned to not renew and that many other season ticket holders would do the same.

I don't think we'll be as good next season (I mean really how could we?) but I would love to be there every week and have season tickets so I'm hoping this is my year.

It's really hard to say. I'm…

It's really hard to say. I'm just greedy. I want both. One will never be enough.

I saw this same meme but…

I saw this same meme but with a 20 instead of an 18 lol.

Same. Maybe in that division…

Same. Maybe in that division but otherwise no.

This is why I hate sports.

This is why I hate sports sometimes.

I went to Maryland and watched us get win #1000

I went to the game and we won

I went to the Rose Bowl and we won

I went to Houston and we won

I went to both home playoff games and we won them both

Yesterday I went to Levi's and we lost. Despite everything I said above it's that very last thing that is all I can remember. And even if we won and then lost the Super Bowl, that would be what I remember. And even if we won the Super Bowl eventually Michigan hockey loses in the NCAA Tournament or the Wings get eliminated or something bad happens. And then all the good gets so hard to remember.

It's easy to not be…

It's easy to not be pessimistic but as leagues keep expanding and promoting parity, it's going to start to get really hard to win championships. People make fun of the Cubs for taking 100 years but I think that will start to be the norm. With 32 teams in the league even if there's a different winner every single year lots of fans are only happy once a generation at best.

That series looked won. Up 2…

That series looked won. Up 2 games to none I felt so confident. Then 3-2 after 2 we had 2 chances to win including game 7 at the Joe.

I didn't watch the perfect…

I didn't watch the perfect game live so that helps. And it helps that technically the blown call meant nothing. But it hurts because only 1 team in MLB history has been 1 out from a perfect game twice and never had a perfect game and it's the Detroit Tigers....and they've done it 3 times.

I'm actually flying to England today to see Liverpool play Chelsea. Not sure when I'm coming back home but I think I'll wait til after the Super Bowl. I just don't want to hear all the analysis and hear about us from the experts that don't care about us. Coverage in Europe should be quite minimal.

Detroit/UofM fan across the…

Detroit/UofM fan across the board. I was at all the biggest games for both teams this year (STH for the Lions).

I'm absolutely devastated. I think my 3 most painful sports moments are

2006 World Series Game 4 (we didn't technically lose til game 5 but it felt over here)

2009 Stanley Cup Finals Game 7 (which was also the last NHL game I ever got to watch with my dad)

Yesterday

I know there's a few Michigan games that absolutely belong here but winning the National Championship (and being there) makes my pain a little harder to remember. Odd opinion but I'm actually going to say losing in Overtime to Denver in the Frozen Four a couple years ago is the most painful Michigan sports memory for me at this time. I was supposed to be there but wanted to go to Ireland to celebrate my dad's would've been 75th birthday. I planned to fly to Boston the day after I got to Ireland but couldn't get myself to make that long trip and instead watched it in the middle of the night in my hotel room.

Probably not a popular opinion, but the Lions more than any team have traumatized me. We should be good next year but our schedule is much harder and Green Bay looks better. I need to see them actually go do something before I can feel confident that we'll have another chance in the next few decades.

As a Liverpool supporter (I…

As a Liverpool supporter (I've seen Liverpool play in person 9 times in all competitions this season despite living in the US) I'm absolutely gutted by this news.

Going to Lions game today and flying to England tomorrow to see them host Chelsea and I've also got a ticket for Burnley. Hopefully win the draw for a Carabao Cup ticket at Wembley as I attended all 3 home ties.

It's funny, I'm a bigger Michigan fan than Liverpool fan. I've been a Michigan fan for much, much longer. But this news hurts a lot more than Harbaugh. Harbaugh you saw coming and prepared for for years. This is an absolute shock.

I've been really debating…

I've been really debating that actually. I've got some furniture I don't want to move out (University of Michigan shuffleboard table in the living room for example) which might actually be appealing to people here.

I was debating buying…

I was debating buying baseball season tickets just for the sake of earning some points. I'm in the process of moving to Michigan for the winters (I'll remain in California the rest of the year) so the baseball tickets would be essentially useless to me but they're also cheap.

They had hundreds of fans…

They had hundreds of fans show up to see the Chargers play the Lions. Go walk around downtown LA and see how long it takes so see someone wearing Chargers gear. Now do the same in downtown Detroit (for Lions, not Chargers) or Ann Arbor (UM). Night and day difference.

Agree with everything. I get…

Agree with everything. I get he wanted to go the NFL and that's fine. He has that right. I'm bitter, but I'm not mad.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I will rank Lloyd Carr ahead of him. He was here longer. He won more games. Won more Big 10 Titles. Won the same number of National Championships. Yeah, these last 3 years were amazing, but I will put Carr ahead. Carr's legacy was ruined because he ended his career slow and because the program was trash after he left. Harbaugh's career ended on a high note and hopefully the program won't fall apart.

What are the odds seats open…

What are the odds seats open up? I tried to get tickets last year but couldn't. I *think* I'm on some sort of waiting list but I'm not even sure if they maintain one.

But to be fair go to Ann…

But to be fair go to Ann Arbor or Detroit and find 1000 random people. How many of them cheer for the Wolverines or Lions? Oh wait.....it's a hell of a lot more than 1.

Not sure if this is the…

Not sure if this is the popular take, but if Harbaugh leaves, can we give those wins to Moore? Especially if he's the head coach. I mean he was technically the coach for the games he won.

I've got Lions season…

I've got Lions season tickets (which come with parking for the regular season) but I'm also not a local...

Can't you just park at the casinos for free? I usually park at the MGM. Am I not supposed to do this?

Lifelong Lions fan (born in…

Lifelong Lions fan (born in 1987)....

Not to be a pessimist but can someone ease my fears a little bit....

How is this team different than 1991?

I'm looking forward to the…

I'm looking forward to the new playoff because I feel like in my lifetime we have finished #5-12 reasonably often but other than 1997 and the last 3 years finishing in the top 4 has not happened at all.

I'm glad the playoff didn't happen that way this year. While I obviously think we're the best team in the country, we don't win 100% of games against any playoff team. Even if we beat team X 99% of the time, there's still that every 100 games. Georgia was down this year so we should beat them, but it sure as hell isn't a 100% chance and as things stand, there's a 100% chance we're 2023 National Champions :)

For fun?....

Lions last win…

For fun?....

Lions last win in SF was in 1975 (0-13 since).

Lions last playoff road win was in 1957....in SF.

I'll see you there! To be…

I'll see you there! To be fair I technically live there. Haven't been home in a month (Lions season tickets) but I do live there.

Moody makes that kick

Moody makes that kick

Okay Packers.....let's have…

Okay Packers.....let's have your longest TD drive of the year and then don't score another point this season.

Let's not count our chickens…

Let's not count our chickens before they hatch. SF has the ball and can take the lead. I think we win but we haven't yet.

Moody with the nice kick. I…

Moody with the nice kick. I tried to root for him to miss but that was just one step too far and I just can't do that.

That's a bad pass and that…

That's a bad pass and that could be huge.

There's no way that things…

There's no way that things can keep setting themselves up for us like this?

Dallas and SF (maybe) losing at home? Us beating Stafford in the playoffs? Maybe the league really is rigged....and maybe it's gonna be rigged for us.
